Building the n00b survival guide right now (should be done before the week is over). To make sure I forget nothing I need help compiling a list of questions and concerns the n00bs keep clustering up.

And any rare, official, info with a referenced link is welcomed.

"How do 4 USB devices fit into 3 ports????!!!!"

"What's the release date?"

It's late for me... so there's two.. lol

Add the 'does the bundle come with a wired guitar' and those are the only 3 questions that I see the most on here.

MrGrieves

add 'what's the price of the bundle' and individual instrument costs

"Will my old GH controllers work with Rock Band?"

"What are the Instruments?"

"Can I add a double bass pedal for my drums?"

I'll think of more...

That's all I can think of.

I've never heard that one before, but it's really a good idea. Only if they can use clothes. I'm sick of one color shirts. I made a bunch of freaks for my Miis. I may post a picture of them in this topic. They're pretty funny looking.

"Is there a Wii version?"

Edit:
Oh yeah, and..
"Are Fenders the only guitars in the game?"
"Is there a delay?"

Kang_Zircon

"How do 4 USB devices fit into 3 ports????!!!!"

Precede that with "Where's the third USB port?"

also:

"How does singer/drums activate star power?"

"What does singer do during solos?"

"How much does the game cost and when is the release date?"

"Is there a bass career mode?"

"What are the head-to-head modes?"

...maybe just retyping the Gampelay description from the main site would answer a lot of those questions.

Do you plan on making it a "One stop shop for all your rock band needs" Like some of those guys on the GH forums like to do with rumored and confirmed song lists and stuff like that? OR strictly the mult thread causing questions?

Oh and you might as well give them a hand holding walk through on "how to use the search function" while your at it.

Good luck with this Xzyliac.

"I read that Xbox 360 bundles don't have wireless and I really wanna play guitar on the john. Am I out of luck?"

I know there's already been a suggestion about the wired/wireless thing, but I had to do a second one because people talk about it so damn much it deserves a second one.

"Is the Character creator going to be detailed?"

"Can my character look like one of my favorite guitarist/bassist/drummer/singer? Like Angus Young or Neal Peart?"

"Is this just a cheap knockoff of Guitar Hero?"

"How Many songs are there going to be?"

"What songs are announced so far?"

"Why aren't they announcing anything new?"

More to come...

"Is it true they're going to be releasing full albums each week for download?"

"Will I be singing on top of another voice track, or by msyself? Can the singing volume be adjusted?"

"I heard a rumor that Waldo is hiding in the game. Wheeeeere!?!? "

A lot of people ask about the singing difficulty, and how easy to expert will be different.

Also whether or not you will be able to download individual songs from DLC, and how much DLC will cost.

"Can I sing and play an instrument at the same time?"

"Is there a bass career mode?"

"Can I use my Xbox 360 headset to sing?"

"Can I play online and with my friend at my house?"

And of course the others asking about wireless controllers, pricing, bundles, release dates etc.

MotleyPriest111

To add a suggestion, hopefully after you make the thread whatever it may be called, Sean can lock it or something. That way it's not some thread that's going to be filled with 500 questions in it.

Then, anytime someone does ask a question in a new thread, we can just redirect them to the sticky, and tell them to read.

Okay, this is probably noobish, but I found this out. Please remember, I am new to the 360, I just got it like, not too long ago for Rock Band. But I was at Gamestop, chatting with the guys behind the counter (Lucky for me, I know them). They said even if you have a Core 360, you can still use Wireless controllers. Now, I didn't know this. So that would solve the age old question:

"How will it work, it would take up 4 USB ports, Guitar, Drums, Bass, and Controller with a Mic in it"

The Wireless controllers apparently work with the 360 Core.

AKA_The_Joker

Wireless controls definately work with the Core package Akaymay. The console itself is identical to the premium package but without the Hard drive and didnt come bundled with a wireless controller. The only reason for that was so they could offer a cheaper way for gamers to get a next gen console and add the wireless peripherals at a later date when they could afford and/or wanted to. Mind you 360's are pretty useless without the Hard Drive. The issue you mentioned is a definate problem. It's too easy for others to say, "Oh easy fix go and buy a a wireless controller" But why should you have to? Microsoft should stop being dicks about the wireless controllers. I'm a big fan of the 360 but Microsoft constantly slap us in the face.

Yeah, there's really no difference, internally, on any of the various Xbox 360 consoles. They're all the same, just each "package" comes with different accessories (hard drives, type/color controllers).

I also got another one, not sure if I posted it before, if I did, my bad.

I think most of the regularly occuring questions have been answered.

Maybe HMXSean could make the list obligitary to read when a user registers (like the Ts&Cs) so people come on here with a base understanding.

Can there be a sub section about what not to suggest in a playlist? Like you state which band and a reason why they would suck for Rock Band. We see it all the time in the boards, we might as well have a place where reasons have been agreed upon. The same bands are always repeated ergo all the same responses are repeated. We all know what wouldn't fit into Rock Band and we have to set the newbies straight.

I imagine it would look something like this:

DO NOT SUGGEST:

BAND: Fall Out Boy
REASON: Not music

BAND: My Chemical Romance
REASON: Too emo

BAND: Your dumb emo and/or indie band that no one but yourself has ever heard of
REASON: They suck

Etc, etc, etc.

I just thought I'd put in my two cents.

I am giving fair warning towards emoism and the like but I won't discourage them.

But they have been warned. Very, very, warned.

Update: This gonna be one big ass guide. I have it all written in my notebook. Should be up this weekend if I can get to a PC.

MCR isn't too emo. In fact, few of their songs can be classified as emo. Once someone talks about death or such, everyone turns them into emo.

Also, who made you the fricken decision king? >:/

well MCR just had a whole DLC pack devoted to them for the 360, so I hope that means MCR's rock band/guitar hero days are over. But yes, we DEFINITLY need a FAQ of some sort to answer all of these questionas that get asked each day. If you need help answering some questions i'd be happy to help.

I couldn't think of a better word at the time, I needed an example. And I'm not the one writing the decisions, it's the collective responses cause we get the same damn suggestions which get the same responses. I was just too lazy to write multiple reasons.

In conclusion, I'm not making the decisions.

I would be very wary of attempts to make this guide have anything to do with musical taste. It injects opinion into what should be a resource of factual information. People should be free to suggest whichever music they would like/think would be a good idea, and the weight of consensus of the more active forumgoers of a particular time period should not suppress that, particularly not in a hopefully stickiable resource.

I think we should have a section that tells people what they can't suggest. Something like this -

DO NOT SUGGEST:
Emo - Not music
Metal - Too guitar-centric
Punk - Too boring
Classic Rock - Too many young people
Modern Rock - Not as good as the old stuff
New Wave - Nobody likes the 80s
Indie - Too obscure
Popular rock - Already overplayed
Your favorite band - They suck
My favorite band - I already suggested them
Any other band - Little Steven already ruled them out/included them so there's no point

That ought to cover all the bases ;)

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this because I just did a glance over of the pages but there should be a section on not bugging sean for early updates. No, he won't tell you anything and no, he won't tell you when exactly we will hear anything definate.

My god, THANK YOU, finally someone who knows actual music, No offense to the listeners but I think Fall Out Boy is GARBAGE, whoring themselves all over the place, In commercials trying to get attention

This is why MTV and generic (plays every "popular" song out there) radio stations ruin music
