I'm surprised they just didn't throw up their hands and go for Band Hero yet...from Kotaku (http://kotaku.com/357408/activision-trademarks-dj-hero):

Trademork is reporting that Activision has applied for a trademark for the name DJ Hero earlier this month. There's not a whole lot of details at the moment but in legal terms, the trademark refers to "computer game software and related instruction manual sold together as a unit; interactive video game programs; computer game discs; downloadable software for use in connection with computer games; video game controllers; interactive video game comprised of a CD or DVD sold as a unit with a video game controller."

Sounds suspiciously like Konami's Beatmania but it will be interesting to see how Activision would make the game their own. It also leaves me curious as to what the song list would be like.

Since it's just licensing news there's no official art to go along with it since it's yet to be in development. Still, the pic Kotaku used as a bumper is cute...

God... this company just continues to demonstrate how out of touch with the consumers they are. Air Guitar Hero, DJ Hero... what's next? Bagpipe Hero? Xylophone Hero?

This might actually turn out to be pretty cool. Except that it's Activision...

EDIT: From Xboxic (http://www.xboxic.com/news/4362), these sites sure love their silly pictures to go along with articles, huh?

I agree, although the music for this game will surely be more towards the rap and hip-hop genre, and that's not really my bag of tea. But A LOT of people are into that, so it makes sense that they would go for this now that music and rhythm games are becoming so popular. But like you said it's Activision, and I'm actually glad it's them and not HMX, I need something to remain pure.

DJ Hero? Yeah, they're going after a market that I'm not a part of, nor have ever been.

I think we should all petition our money together and trademark the name "Guitar Protagonist"

....Just to piss them off.

They're probably just doing this to make sure no one uses the "Hero" name to make money off the public but them. Just because they trademark it doesn't mean they'll make it.

Another Hero game? I'm sorry, but Rock Band make Guitar Hero 1 2 and 3 look like demos for Rock Band, and Activision is digging they're own grave with this game.
