Hi.

Rock Band has interested me, and I have heard good and bad things about it. I have played all three Guitar heros, and have loved them. I have beaten all 3 on expert level and love playing online in GH3.

My question is: Is Rock Band REALLY worth it? The $170 dollars I mean. How does it compare to GH? I am the kind of person that doesnt like buying things unless i am completely satisfied.

Also, what is the deal with the instruments? I have heard that they break easily. Are there any mods that will make them last longer?

So, what do you think? Thanks for any answers :)

If you have friends to play with, yes.

Drums dude, drums!

If you've got 3 friends, it's a brilliant game

If you've got 3 friends who also love the Guitar Heroes, then yes. The 170 dollars is definately a great purchase. If you're more of a solo player, you might still enjoy the game as long as you like all the different instruments' play styles, i.e. if you enjoy singing, you'll get a kick with the mic, or if you want a serious challenge, try using the drums.

If you just buy it for the guitar parts, you might be slightly disappointed. The guitar is more simplified, but the emphasis of the game is focused on 4-player co-op play. When you're all together playing, it's an absolute blast. I'm glad I got it.

If you don't care about drums or singing and you don't have any friends, then no, it's probably not gonna work for you -- unless you're lucky enough to have a 360 Xplorer, which is compatible with the standalone disc.

Rock Band is a party game and shines in multiplayer. Solo there's fun to be had but the real scene is with the four piece ensemble. I've got plenty of fun online despite having no location friends, though -- and I've cleared the Hall of Fame in Band World Tour by myself (vocals + guitar simultaneously), which was a blast.

You're asking on the Rock Band forum. Obviously, we all think it's worth it.

just what i was gonna say. but yeah, from our standpoint, its totally worth it. the guitar is easy, but buy the metallica pack if you want a challenge. i konw its to late, but just so you know, GH3 wasn't worth it!

I never play with friends at my place. So far I've only played online and mostly alone. I can honestly say that this is the game that has captivated me the most. I bought it back in January, and I'm STILL playing it and it's as much fun!

Rock Band is the most fun you can have with your pants on. And if you play without your pants, it's even more fun.

Buy it now.

Ha!

You can play the bass and pretend you are Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, he plays the bass naked a lot.

On topic,

Buy the game, you have already cheated yourself out of almost 3 months of fun.

I've bought the game.
I've bought a drum throne.
I've bought a drum pedal and pad.
I've bought several sets of sticks to figure out which ones I liked best.
I even bought a mic stand and a cowbell, just for fun.

Worth every penny.

Be aware the guitar parts in RB are NOWHERE NEAR AS HARD as Guitar hero I, II, and especially III. So, if you can play through GH III on expert, you might be pretty bored with the guitar part in RB. That said, drums are a lot of fun and singing has it's moments.

IF the $170 is bothering you, most of us are looking for someone to play with once in a while. Find a few people in your town and head over to their house. RB gets better when you add more people, so as long as you get along (no getting drunk and throwing up on the floor unless they do it all the time anyway...) people will welcome you. You might not get to play the part you want as often (since it isn't your house your rules), but you should be able to have fun.
