you guys at harmonix should make a double bass pedal thing for rock band. it would make so many more songs available that require double bass, only you wouldnt have to make it to where you have us skip it. only a suggestion though, and think it would open up more doors for the DLC for rock band.

I say yes not because we need another bass pedal (although it would be nice in a few instances) but mainly because I want a high hat pedal.

Lol... why? So that you would end up having two pieces prone to constant breaking?

The hi hat pedal isn't used enough in songs to warrant inclusion. Most pop songs only change the hi-hat position once or twice, don't they?

The only reason I disagree with this idea is that the average person cant use a double bass pedal. Im sure you all remeber how much whining there was when rock band first came out about the kick pedal and asking for cheats, well if they did add a double bass pedal you would get another wave of whining and people saying "hmx you suck, QQ." I would be all for it if more people could use one but this is the only reason i could see it not working.

I fail to see how this could be a problem as people who aren't ready for the second pedal can just use one.

Take to Drum pedals plug them into a "2 into 1" converter and there is your double bass. Don't tell me it doesn't work because mine works flawlessly

i figured you could do that

the only down fall: pedals arent sold seperately and i dont wanna spend 80 buck on a new set just for a pedal:mad:

Isn't there already a poll out there about three months old about this?

How is this a bad idea? How would you play most of the metal songs out there without double bass? Ride the lightning is a perfect example of this.

Yeah, ever since this game's been announced, people have been asking why there's no double bass.

One problem with having double bass is that it would add extra cost to the drum set, but it would only be used in the harder expert songs. The set already costs $80, and I don't think the average user would pay an extra $15-$20 for something they probably will never use. And you have to worry about where the pedal itself will go. You could put it to the side of the kit, but then it will slide. Even if you could somehow attach it to the kit, it would make the kit slide even more than it usually does.

Being a drummer, I would like there to be double bass/ a hi-hat pedal, but I think harmonix is better off keeping it simple.

And to the person who said the hi-hat pedal isn't used much, it is. The more I think about it, the more I think a hi-hat pedal would be much more useful than a double bass pedal. For example, Orange Crush, Flirting with Disaster, Tom Sawyer, Black Hole Sun... they would all make more sense with a hi-hat pedal.

im pretty sure its the term for a real bass pedal

cuz it is also called a kick drum vs bass drum

Both kick drum and bass drum(and therefore kick pedal and bass pedal) are correct. Both are commonly used and accepted.

Damn good idea. I'd be first in line for a double bass pedal.

I have 3.5mm jack splitter, but it doesn't work when i put two pedals in. Can you tell me the exact splitter you use, stuntna.

I don't want to spend more money unless its worthy. Is this is to be consider what happen to the poor people that don't have this option. If you want to play more real get a real Drum. This is just a Game.

Anyway in the event that I would like to test the feeling i'd take downthebeatenpath's advise.

Good Idea man, the only problem is that i don't have another drum set to test that.

That's a video of a kid using a headphone jack splitter and an extra kick pedal to play the game with "double kick pedals."

Madcatz or some other 3rd party company should consider selling just the kick pedal at a higher quality standard than the stock ones if they won't be sold seperate from the stock set. They could also sell a "Y-splitter" cable to split the plug and make profit for noobs who don't know what Radio Shack is.

Using the splitter is pretty much worthless. Yes, you CAN hook up 2 pedals and both will work using a MONO splitter. HOWEVER. If one pedal is pushed down the other will NOT register as the circuit has already been completed. Therefore you have to lift the first pedal BEFORE being able to use the other which totally defeats the purpose of the double bass pedal. Once you have lifted the first pedal high enough to open the circuit again so you use the other one, why not just push the first one back down again?

There are some circuit board mods to allow a double bass pedal work like it should and you can even buy them already made too, but using JUST a splitter is a waste of time and money unless you already have 2 drums sets and a splitter laying around. Don't waste your time or money getting a splitter and extra set thinking you will get a double bass pedal effect, it is NOT that simple.

Yes, I do have 2 sets and yes I have tried the splitter. I removed it after one song as it was usless and will just wait til I have time to build a board so it functions as it should.

Well I agree with most of what you said- its true it doesn't register together or function as a real one would, but it still looks interesting to me, the main problem I have with the drums is the fast kick pedaling, my foot dies. Not sure how some of you can do it lol, but yeah, if it can save 50 percent of the effort from one foot then I could probably hit 50 percent more kick pedal notes :p

with proper foot techniqe and the songs curently in the game you dont need a double pedal, i do think one with adjustable springs would be nice.

I did it! An electronic solution to play with 2 pedals. Now I can let a pedal down while playing with a second one. My "pedal adapter" fix the problem.
The timing is altered for a few milliseconds but can't cause any problem in the game nor in a software as "Drum machine" by Andrew Rudson. :)

:eek:wow bud, do u OWN a set of drums for rock band? i believe, because i a, staring at it right now, that there is room for 3, if not 4 pedals in the middle where the one sits. dont tell me it wont work, because i have already tired the double bass pedal, and obviously enough, they both fit in the middle somehow:D

The fact that they have a converter that allows you to play both without any hiccups is nice, but still not worth $25.00 in my opinion.
