I've been lurking around here for a while and here is a point no one else has pointed out. I know the double bass pedal thing has been done to death but it's kind of lame the drummer in game gets a double bass and we get a single kick drum to replicate the sounds we're hearing.
That's like rubbing in our face. I know that the guy in the game depicts the guitar having more than just 5 frets as does the bass, but as a musician an extra bass pedal would be more beneficial than a 6th fret button.
With a double pedal it would unlock many more songs and genres for their dlc.
Just my 2 cents

And the guitarist and bassist only get ten frets and one strum bar. I mean they get more in the game. Damn them.

There is a difference between the bass and guitar. Pn the guitar the red button for instance represents a whole multitude of different notes and can in conjunction with other buttons be used for many different combination of chords. But on drums one of the only way to get different feels or sounds would be to add new hardware. I know that some times the blue isn't just used for cymbols but as toms during fills but really we're limited to about 8 core sounds. The addition of a double bass drum would help out the drums be not so monotonous and give us more depth than the simple 4 tom or whatever their being used for at the time buttons.

This is the thing: Rock Band is a game. You want drums buy drums dammit.
The truth is you're playing a game where anyone can rock on Expert with practice. If it's too real, and maybe too difficult, that may ruin the very delicate difficulty balance Harmonix has tweaked for 5 years.

Then why have different difficulties. Just have one called expert and one called expert(double bass) or something like that. If Harmonix makes games not lifelike or not hard enough people will stop playing. I hated Bark at the Moon on GH1 because what I played was not what I heard and it messes with me every time I play it.

If guitar can get simplified to 5 buttons, drums can get simplified down to 5 pads, too. Besides, I hate double bass ;)

A crappy blemished drum kit (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Pulse-Pro-5Piece-Shell-Pack-?sku=444019X) is $212, still a lot to spend, and add lessons and it's more expensive than RB, so let's not hear any of that.
Also, why couldn't drums be very hard? If it's the highest difficulty, it should be hard. I'm sure it won't hurt your ego too much if you can't beat expert on all the instruments.

What about the guys who want to imagine they're using a 12 string? Where's their love?

Crovax,
Please find the search function and use it. This has been discussed to death and has been determined that it would be too difficult for the vast majority of people to effectively use it.
Harmonix has to think of the average joe first and foremost, in this regards they will NOT be implementing anything that will make the game impossible to master for the average joe. Keep in mind that a lot of this has been thought of by Harmonix and I'm sure that they'll make expert difficult enough.

There are several threads about this elsewhere with extremely good conversations about this. Please use search before starting new threads.
