Several questions

1- Can we just use a normal headset, like one we'd jack into the guitar like 360 X-Plorer? When I play live my ideal is wireleass guitar and a wireless headset and a "prop" mic on a stand for effect, and if I want to sing and play at the same time, it's easier, plu easier on the wallet

2- the official mic, will it come with, or at least fit into a standard mic stand? That was always my big sadness with karaoke revolution, part of the rock is in the stand.

headset= Nsync, Britney Spears + a bunch of other really bad, unnecessary pop bands.

mic = rock music.

i would really be surprised if there was no micstand on that sucker.

Headset=Freedom to move, play, and sing at the same time. Garth Brooks uses one, though he's obviously not rock.

Do you perform live with a dynamic act? Because I do, and when you're the only male vocalist for a band that does both male and female songs that are fast paced, you don't want to be tied down.

I ask about the headset also because i already have one, and therefore if I can't afford the "band pack", I can just jack that in

consider many of the incredibly theatric Metal Acts that are out there, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, Hammerfall, and the like. they use thier whole stage AND they have a Mic instead of a headset.

also take into consideration that chances are your not gonna be performing live in this game like you do with your real band. your either gonna be stationarily standing (or if your like me sittin on your butt in the living room) singing.

granted they have not made any official annoucements, but i do believe that all the periphreals are purchasable as standalones, so that you can buy them one by one as you can afford them (if you allready have GH guitars that knocks out about half the price right there)

Another question with mics, and this to the singers out there.. is there any particular brand/style of mic you'd like to see them replicate for RB.. or is any old crap alright?

Personally, I'm quite fond of those old steel "grill" (i dunno what else to call it) style mics that you can grip around the head.. I dunno exactly how rock or praticle they are though

Yeah, the old honeycomb style would rock!

Understand, my primary motivation is the "what if I don't have $150 when the game comes out and want to still play singy parts"

I finally got the MadKatz mic for karaoke revolution that worked just as well, has a longer cord, and wasn't the size of a tube of lipstick :)

Shure SM58. Dependable, fits in your hand, sounds great :)

What about using the SingStar mics, they have a USB adapter. Not to mention that you can plug that adapter into your Mac, it picks it right up and it can be used with Garageband.

Too bad there's nothing I can really use to test this out, but it might be an option if it does work.

I doubt headsets will be compatible. I spose there is a chance though. What if the RockBand mics have other functions than being just a mic, eg buttons to navigate menus, Star Power-ish function button... that kinda stuff.

what if it doesnt cost that much for both things? i say lets wait till harmonix gives actual price ranges instead of what EBGames/Gamestop are GUESSING at (they put those prices out so that they can get money on the reservations, if you dont believe thats all it is, consider that in less than a week of Starcraft 2 being announced they allready have pre-orders for that as well).

and if it really is that expensive, i personally would say tough **** and either start saving up now(which is what me and my buddies are all doing), or deal with it. nothin against you, its just that if I were part of the design team, i would only allow the actual mic periphreal.

There is simply no possible way that it WON'T cost at least $150. Wireless guitar, mic, and drum perhiph? $50 SRP MINIMUM (and judging by Guitar Hero, probably $60-70) and as I recall that's pretty much the lowball figure that was reported to be thrown out at the playtesting session. We're probably talking closer to $200.

I am saving up now, but I also have to buy a 360 in that space. It's still a lot easier to be able to jack in a headset (like you can with the GH 360 controller), because you can't rock a mic and a guitar at the same time.

hopefully it wont be expensive. plus it better have some greedy way to set off star power that would be cool.

i agree that a headset would be really girly, not rock band like. i dont think it is that big of a deal to just adjust the mic to where you can sing and play at the same time.

One question. Do you think people will really buy the game with just the mic. I think that would be silly.

hand sets wouldnt be that bad cause you could sing and play on the guitar at the same time

Well so far Harmonix has said that the GHII 360 guitar will work with RB (although there will be some sort of "special goodness" that the strat has that the Xplorer doesn't), so they're meeting us halfway and giving us the option before we get soaked!

or if there was a mic-stand you could do that as well. and i would find it really hard to believe that the mic periphreal would be that expensive without a stand considering i can get a regular PC mic for 10 bucks at work.

actually i can see that very easily, and for one reason alone.

the songs that have been in GH (and probably will be in RB as well) are songs that are actually worth learning to play/sing to.

Yep. I already have the GHII guitar, and have no desire to play the bass or drums right now. So it'll just be the mic for me.

Singing ain't my bag, but it would be pretty cool do sing and play the bass or guitar at the same time. We're gonna need those N'Sync headsets

You just use your standard live headset. It worked fine for karaoke revolution

I was just thinking, if your playing drums guitar or bass it would be cool if you were able to talk to your buddies your playing, probably headsets. I know when me and my friends are playing muliplayer we like to chat while we play, sych out each other or just give a big dramatic "Nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!" when we screw up an awesome note streak.

Theres also the possibility of Playstation Eye compatiblity aswell... Who knows? Not me, thats who!
