I've looked around for this on here but I can't find someone asking this particular question. Does anyone have any good advice on how to get excellents on the spoken vocal parts (the parts with no pitch) consistently?

I try to holding the phrases out as long as the lines after the words show and it's hit and miss and then i just try pausing as little as possible between each word and it's hit and miss too. I can't seem to find the in between to do these consistently.

My friends and I are nearing completion of all sets on expert, but it's really frustrating being the only one who has below 95% on some of the songs and it's partly because of these spoken phrases.

Off the top of my head, the songs that trouble me the most with this are Tom Sawyer (really only the "catch the mystery" part, but that has star power on it a couple times so it sucks missing it), Are you gonna be my girl, and Epic.

I apologize now if this has already been discussed, but I couldn't find it on here, I'm new to this site, but not to the game. Thanks.

What i normally do is just practice saying the words backwards or while listening to my ipod through the headphones sing aloud with the song while in public. It really helped me finally get past vasoline (by far the hardest song in the game).

You get a decent amount of "disc fill" for ending words on time as well. Talky parts are generally hit and miss, and pains in the neck though.

You might try turning down your mic sensitivity (seems to help many folks tremendously), and clearly enunciate the ends of words. Knowing the song really well will help, because sometimes the words aren't always arranged so that they cross the arrow when you're supposed to say them (e.g. - Ballroom Blitz, Epic).

make sure ur sensitivity is all the way down hold the mic real close to your mouth, either have very little noise in the area your playing or be a good distance from it, and also wrap your hands around the mic while you hold it to your mouth to keep it from picking up other sounds in the area

Hmmm, I'll have to try messing with the sensitivity. I've always had it up high and tried experimenting holding it different distances away from my mouth, but that sounds like a better idea. I have put every song that I have trouble singing in the game on my mp3 player, so I'll just have to work harder on my enunciation. Thank you, and any more tips are welcome.

BTW cowshark, very impressive job on I get by. That song still kills me, but I can actually get through it now pretty well, nowhere near five stars though.

One thing I found to be helpful: You can actually just tap the microphone to the beat of the words and it will register them the same way. I was shocked when it worked, and after experimenting a little with it I was finally able to 5-star Epic. Play around with it for the phrases you can't ever hit.
