lyrics that remind me of rap songs(buckcherry anyone?)

shouting(when a screamer vocalist doesn't know how to sing, he will shout and call it clean vocals. bands like misery signals and august burns red sometimes do this)

once again,

disrespecting the word rock by misspelling it. especially misspelling it 'rokk'.

On the subject or explicitives...

I don't see the big WHO-HA! My view is, if you don't like it, don't listen to it. That way it can totally be avoided.

> 10 out of 12 songs on an album going: verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus with nothing to make them "special"

> pointless cursing (agreeing with Xzyliac & TheRocker)

EDIT: Its not that "I don't like it" because of the words; its because sometimes it sounds like a complete copout because the writer couldn't think of a better, more descriptive and intellegent way of portraying what he/she is trying to convey. So this certainly doesn't need to become a "cursing vs. no cursing" debate, haha. pleeeease no because it isn't about that :p

Who is turning this into a debate? All I simply stated was my opinion and view.

that was of a general comment to anyone reading it, sorry :) It seems there's been a lot of topic changing in threads lately because one person takes a comment and runs with it, not only changing the thread topic but creating a completely senseless debate because more people jump on the train.

I find it funny that people can get upset at me saying 'rokk' when I used both spellings a million times and no one has ever cared. How do you step out your house and tolerate society if such wee things, like a lack of a letter, can tick you off? :p

But then again I ***** about little things as well. I don't speak my *****ary most of the time but I do get peeved at little stupid things.

I didn't say it ticked me off once.

Meh, I guess you mentioned it as a peeve so that's how I took it. Sorry if I misunderstood.

I'm trying to make some fun topics. All the Rock Band board post turn into stupid arguments now.

I agree with you about the pointless cursing point. It's a real peeve of mine. I firmly believe what Angus Young once said: "Any Comedian can come on stage and say "f**k", it takes a real master to say it without saying the actual word".

That is very true of music and hence the reason why I like the music of AC/DC, Judas Priest, The Who, etc. They all express the ideas (Sex, revolution, etc.) without resorting to base, vulgar swearing. (And yes, I do believe that swearing is very base)

Other pet peeves:
misspelling Rock. It's not "Rokk" (any misspelling really bothers me, and hence 99% of the "internet generation" drives me around the bend because no one seems to be able to spell or use grammer properly anymore!!!!)

Misspelling titles, or incorrectly naming songs (i.e. "Who's Next?" instead of "Who's Next", "We Won't Get Fooled Again" instead of "Won't Get Fooled Again" and the worst of the worst "Teenage Wasteland" instead of "Baba O'Riley"!!!!) (Is it really that difficult to look up the proper title of a song/album?! Research people! It's a great life skill)

Crappy guitarists who can not properly put together a good, melodic solo and instead go for speed wankery

Singers who can't sing (99.9% of the pop music today, any death metal singer, and many other modern "musicians". There was a time when someone actually had to have talent to make it big. Anymore, you just have to have a look)

...any death metal singer, and many other modern "musicians".

are you kidding me?

for the death metal bit, have you ever heard of mikael akerfeldt? that's the first one who comes to mind for me, but there are others with good singers(in flames, killswitch engage, and between the buried and me pulled off some good vocals in their new album)

and there are many great modern singers, listen to some mars volta, as tall as lions, or ra

Wrong forum n00b...
And I hate bands that recycle their music or that have crappy lyrics... Such as Nickelback where it sounds like every song is the same

Misspelling? That implies a mistake. Alternate spelling is more on target seeing that it was intentional.

I agree with all but one...

The original cookie monster + rock = win.
