Okay, so I was playing guitar, finishing up the Solo Tour mode and after sitting down to rest upon finishing "Green Grass and High Tides" for the first time on hard (I got 157,000, a feat I'm very proud of, btw) and I noticed that from playing the song I hurt my shoulder.
I don't think somebody injuring their shoulder from playing plastic guitar happens very often... :(

Joel Zumaya (a pitcher for the Detroit Tigers) missed a few games in the playoffs a few years back because of a Guitar Hero related injury so it isn't unheard of.

It's probably tendonitis or a similar repetitive motion injury.
Usually those are caused by poor posture or improper adjustment of the controller while playing.

Make sure your strap is adjusted right (and that it's not digging in to your shoulder) and the guitar hangs at the proper level for comfortable play.

In the meantime, ice it (15 minutes on, 15 off, repeat as needed) and use ibuprofen to minimize the inflammation. And take a break from guitar gaming for a bit. If you need your fix, do the vocal tour or something. :)

I did the exact same thing earlier this week. I figured out it was the Big rock endings (quickly sliding my hand across the lower frets) that had started all of the pain.

Don't feel bad...my wrist has been hurting me. I'm icing it down and taking a break for a few days. Geez I feel like an old man, but I'm only 31!

The back left side of my neck has been killing me the last few days. My real drum playing friend asked me how much I had been playing and I said about six hours straight on Mon night (RB party). He laughed and said I need to take breaks or to expect my neck to hurt like that. He says he gets the same pain from hitting his high hat at gigs. I'll try the ice / aspirin route and work on my posture too. Maybe I should do the lefty flip too.

Thanks doc!

He's not a doctor, he just plays one on the forums... :)

I'm not a doctor, but I am a medical professional. I'm a dialysis technician. ;)
