Double bass pedal on the drumkit?

Was wondering if anyone else was interested in adding a double bass pedal to the drumkit. Would it be overkill or would it add more difficulty and depth to an already deep game? I thought it would be a good idea for potential metal songs that almost require double bass pedals. I don't think I want to play 32nd notes with one bass pedal. Just a thought and please speak out about it.
