I haven't been in here as much as I should be and for that I apologize. I'm hearing more and more reports that threads are descending into chaos and the overwhelming urge to hate on someone else's band has caused a Lord of the Flies sort of thing to happen.

I'll be in here a lot more now.

Things to do-

Feel free to post threads, get feedback, and comment on other people's setlists. When commenting take it seriously, if you like someone's picks let them know why. If you don't also let them know why and explain it.

Things not to do-

Start making personal attacks on other users due to their musical preferences. Especially the kind that make me reach for my ban hammer (I call it mjolnir), if you are unclear please read the rules of the boards.

Reasoning-

We've all been to boards that started off good and decent and where awesome conversations could happen. Then all of a sudden people start acting crazy and super defensive/offensive about every little thing and it turns into a riot that would be better turned off then allowed to continue.

So have fun, feel free to have some awesome discourse about music but refrain from suddenly making it personal. Life is too short for that.

NOTE FROM JOHNLOK: The Ultimate Set List is *NOT* the place for religious or political discussion. The Rock Band forums are here - especially the Ultimate Set List forum - to talk about kick-ass music. People who insist on flaming, trashing, and otherwise spewing complete insanity will be dealt with.

As long as he equally goes after the myspace kids we flame, and/or implements a system where it fixes common spelling mistakes I'll be happy. Beyond people who listen to MCR style stuff, it does get a little annoying when there is flaming.

For a second I thought HMX made a setlist, and I was excited.

Hmmm, I have a feeling a lot of people need to be banned under these new stipulations. *cough* battleaxofdoom *cough*

Seriously though, there's too much hate around here. Yeah I did make a few threads about stuff that I hate, but I wasn't barging in and preaching my opinion like it was fact like some people like to do around here.

Sean said to keep our comments "public" if you will and not personal...that doesn't mean we cant say that a band sucks, we just have to explain why...we shouldn't say they suck if we never heard them and we shouldnt say they suck because we dont like their music. our opinions should be based off of what would be ideal for the game...we should be opinionizing over if the drums, lead guitar, base guitar, and vocals of the music are what the public wants to play...

ok i understand wut you're saying and when this week is over i'll start posting as baod with explainations instead of just dt blows, but all i'm saying is i don't like being singled out when toadie and countless others did the exact same things i did, and before i even signed up to this forum apparently.

and before sean comes back in here and says i wasn't banned cuz of my arguing i can't help but to feel that way especially after this thread. out of everyone that argued i was the only to be bant wut gives

I have to admit though, I have talked about how bad Dragon Force sucks too...and it's not only because I dont like their music, but I'm assuming that the general public doesnt want to sing and play music about dungeons and dragons and of the such...

yea, we havn't gotten a word yet saying whether our choices of bands and songs and suggestions are even being considered...heck, we havn't even gotten a word on any other songs that are confirmed for the game, when is harmonix going to update the current songlist? or at least add another video to youtube or something, so we have a better look at the game...I want to see a video on star power, rock band game updates and new features on the game, and some more gameplay of course...and what's this deal I hear about Metallica sueing Harmonix? is it true? sorry to come at you with all this at once, but im dont know where else I'm going to get these answers...

(sorry for the double post)

ok, first, idiotec was making a joke. j-o-k-e

Second, "we havn't gotten a word yet saying whether our choices of bands and songs and suggestions are even being considered" WHAT???? Need I go back and find where it has been mentioned whos job it is to listen to suggestions, how many they are getting, and how they are discovering bands they've never heard of through our suggestions? No, I think I need not >_> That was just silly of you to say.

Third, "heck, we havn't even gotten a word on any other songs that are confirmed for the game, when is harmonix going to update the current songlist? or at least add another video to youtube or something, so we have a better look at the game...I want to see a video on star power, rock band game updates and new features on the game, and some more gameplay of course" I suggest you read through all the 9849234 threads saying "i want new info, i want new info, i want new info" and LEARN that new info will come when they are good and ready to supply it. And this goes for anyone who has even thought for a millisecond about saying "so, how bout that new info?"

Fourth, "but im dont know where else I'm going to get these answers" That little word at the top of your screen that says "search".

That was an incredibly rude post, especially for the first comment you made. HMX have been going above and beyond to create an enjoyable community experience and communicate with us. I recommend you don't say things like this in the future because it will be met with defensive (not flaming) responses (like this one).

Too bad some people don't read this thread more.

i could care less if people read this or not. let them seal their own fate of getting banned. there will be less useless and ignorant posts we will have to weed through. :D

everyone has their own taste. there's so many setlist/band requests that id like to reply and say,"open your ears buddy!" but it's not our business to tell a person what they shouldnt like. so i just ignore the topic and move on. what's so hard? a lot of it has to do with maturity. it's great to have a magic ban stick, keep em in check :)

Can we insult people for being stupid seperate from their musical taste? Most of the time the people who are targets for insults to their intelligence are the ones who listen to the popular rock of today ("emo" and Nu Metal). It's kind of sad, but I see so many of those users are otherwise stupid. They can barely spell, they have no grasp of the english language in general (Probably off myspace). They're behaviour in general makes them seem quite err.. slow. I've seen one triple post, and bump a bunch of random threads to add nothing to the topic.

Once in a blue moon I see an intelligent person who likes these types of genres, and I will respect them (And listen and see if the song would be good for RB). I'm sure there are idiots in all genres, but this seems to have the most. Probably because of it's popularity, and teen culture when it comes to the internet.

That's a real reach.

Just because someone listens to crappy music, doesn't make them a moron. It just means they listen to crappy music.

There's no need to try to "convert them" or anything, all it does is makes the person feel bad and makes you look like an elitist snob. Besides, no one ever gives up on the internet, so you're fighting a useless war.

I didn't say that. I said the people who listen to a certain genre of music seem to have higher incidences of stupidity. I'm sure there are some intelligent Fall Out Boy fans out there, but there are more idiots. Did you even read the post? I had a whole section devoted to saying this.

And even though it's their taste, the stuff like Nu Metal, and the modern emo/pop punk is pretty repetitive. I'm sure there are a few exceptions, but they wouldn't fit that great. It's not like I want them to add Wild Thing. That's a classic rock song that's repetitive. I enjoy it, but it wouldn't fit. It's 3 chords.

The amount of Snobbery in here is disgusting!

I remember when people used to have good discussions and offer suggestions without resorting to personal attacks against individuals.

What happened here?

I don't want to hear blaming the "other group", it's all you people and you should be ashamed. You disgrace the name of "rock snob". Rock snobs don't resort to lowering themselves to the level of morons by resorting to personal attacks. They may attack a form of music as being INFERIOR, but not "stupid". Also, rock snobs attempt to convert people to their ranks by showing them the light, not calling them imbeciles.

If you don't like a form of music, great! Good for you! Do not use it as a launching pad against someone to start throwing personal insults against them. The style of music one listens to does not determine who that person is.

For example, my taste in music is Classic Rock and Classic Metal.

When most people look at me they see someone who should be listening to modern and classic pop crap. I'm a professional looking person (wearing a suit everyday to work, short cut, professional hair), who works in the legal field. 99% of the people I work around are surprised when I tell them I hate Pat Boone and love the music of Judas Priest and Ozzy Osbourne.

Do NOT generalize about a style of music, otherwise everyone here would think I'm a metalhead who wears leather and studs, has a million tattoos and numerous piercings. You can not tell ANYTHING about a person from their musical tastes.

Every single one of you so-called rock snobs should hang your heads in shame.

Was that referring to me? Or just in general? Usually on this forum, people get called stupid because the music they suggest would not fit, and is repetetive. There are classic rock songs that don't fit too.

Any type of music that is incredibly popular today with teenagers, and is new, and is in the U.S is going to have negative stereotype, because a discouraging amount of teenagers today are really stupid. Not all though, but dear god, a lot of them are. I am one too, so I know first hand.

To be honest I believe Rock Band can surpass Guitar Hero if and only if they put any Led Zeppelin song on the game list itself. Many will agree that Led Zeppelin is UNARGUABLY the best rock band of all time and its about time they are put into the game. We owe Led Zeppelin atleast that much for all the great songs they wrote for us to still be listening to.:D

P.S.
Atleast one Tool song should also be included on the game itself. I would put any one of their songs on from any album except 10000 days as it would make more sense.

So uh how about Sly & The Family Stone, hah they probably won't work until Rock Band 2 w/ multiple singers & a keyboard.

Fleetwood Mac and Tool work well for this IMO. I'll be so pissed if they don't have Tool, they're nowhere near being my favorite band but I know they work so well for this game.

It would be the best selling game of all time.

In a nod to those who like punk - a band w/ all 4 parts that would be fun to play - OPERATION IVY with tracks like 'sound system' etc.

SUBLIME also has great tunes w/ a huge cult following as well as songs that would work very well. And on another not would provide a reggae type sound yet to be used in a music game.

why not throw san fran area amazing punk band SWINGIN' UTTERS - i love them and they have tons of songs that would work out well.

BOB MARLEY - but the faster more intense song's w/ running base lines such as 'could you be loved' - the drums would have many roll's in a lot of his songs

PETER FRAMPTON - 'show me the way'

AC/DC - some of their songs are essential rocking out tunes..in fact people during the sars concert in toronto rocked out way more to them than even the stones.

ROD STEWART - "Stay with me" a nice long rock and roll songs w/ drum and guitar solos

RANCID - 'olympia' 'roots radicals' or actually most of 'and out come the wolves' album would work very well.

maybe some skate punk like PENNYWISE - which would have many game-friendly songs such as 'bro-hym' or 'date with destiny'

also forgot to mention a band like TEN FOOT POLE w/ clean vocals and nice drumming i think an ideal song would be 'this is but a test' ? not sure the title right now, but the drums for the entire songs would be different than any other song because it uses a a slow roll rather than a traditional high-hat snare combo - it uses a couple snare hits then about for tom hit's (both) and ends with a snare hit while including a symbol hit here and there, very cool.

I know that the full setlist(except for 12 remaining unlockable songs)has been released, but who agrees with me that there should be some great hard rock and metal included in the downloadable content? It seems like the songs already included, excluding enter sandman, just don't rock enough.

They should include more songs by bands like metallica, disturbed, iron maiden, ac/dc, led zeppelin, new and old sabbath, rush, andmaybe some really heavy metal stuff. But my ultimate setlist would definately have to include some john 5 songs like damged although it wouldnt be much of an experience for the vocalist because john 5 does instrumental guitar work.:D

When you press the buttons on the top of the neck, it makes it so you don't have to strum right? If that's the case, we can swap out bass for one song and put it as a second guitar, and be able to play the famed double guitar solo.

Are you going to strum the top frets and play the bottem frets as well? 3hands?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you use the buttons that are above the neck for tapping? I don't mean the fret ones, the ones on the side of the neck. So I mean if you can do that, maybe take out the bass line and have two guitar lines for this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rutyA12z3Ok
ANd just use the tapping buttons for both guitars or something.

HMX Sean: read this and think it through
I am a hardcore Megadeth fan....HARDCORE Megadeth fan. I loved the inclusion of them in both of YOUR guitar hero games...Neversoft didn't share the love...

Through my HARDCORE FAN-NESS I have turned a VERY LARGE percent of my friends into hardcore fans also....so many of them too are Contemplating getting this game.... (I am getting it regardless). But they like myself are just waiting for the announcement...SOME MEGADETH IN ROCK BAND!!!!!! Either in game or as DLC.....some of my friends are using this as a teetering point as whether they will get the game, whether megadeth shows up or not....some aren't as intrested in the game but would play it if any Megadeth was in....and some more of my friends are just upset like me that it isn't in the game at all when their music is SO good and has been SO influential to metal...so as you think about the possiblility of the number of sales you would get through announcing some megadeth then the number of sales you would get from the MASSES of megadeth fans hitting up the DLC of the Marketplace.....it just makes sense....why not? Here are the main suggestions my friends and I agree on that we feel would make great for Rock Band and before the Idea is dismissed...listen to the tracks and just envision the group of hardcore megadeth fans sitting in a room together wielding your instruments playing any of the following (in order from most wanted at the top)

Holy Wars...The Punishment Due
Peace Sells
Tornado of Souls
Reckoning Day
Blackmail the Universe
Skin O My Teeth
Kick the Chair
Washington is Next

Please HMX read this and just ya know...consider it;)

Agreed wholeheartedly, great call. Three of my favorite current bands!

We all realize initially they're going for the bands MOST people would recognize, from common genres and time periods, with songs that any instrument will have fun with, but it's time to be a bit more open-minded with the downloads, right? The first 3 sets (Metallica/Police/Queens of the Stone Age) seem to be the most promising out of everything Harmonix has announced, but we've seen all of these in the guitar hero games already. Let's get obscure, Harmonix!!

Megadeth - (if it had double bass it would be easier to decide, but) anything off Rust in Peace

Bad Company - Feel Like Making Love

Testament - Practice What You Preach

Leaves Eyes - Anything

Nightwish - Anything!!!!

Pantera - Cemetery Gates

Iced Earth - ANYTHING!!!

Demons And Wizards - Would be tough, but Fiddler on the Green would be a good choice. No double bass in that one.

Baba O'riley - The Who
Layla - Eric Clapton

Locomotive Breath - Jethro Tull
Jumpin Jack Flash - The Rolling Stones

I think it's important to add popular songs that people like to sing along with. Typically when playing guitar, bass or drums it doesn't matter as much, but its fun when you have a room full of people and everyone can sing along cuz they like the song and know the lyrics. I'll personally play drums or guitar to any song but I only like sing to the songs I like or know (ie popular). I'd like to see hit songs from:

Van Halen
Def Leppard
Bon Jovi
Stone Temple Pilots
Pearl Jam
Kid Rock
Motley Crue
Nickelback
Alice In Chains
Godsmack
Guns n Roses
Staind
Metallica
ZZTop

My list is a little less conventional simply because for the first time I can remember, my family and I are in a band together, so it would be cool to have a few songs that they have heard of. With that,

Chuck Berry - Hail! Hail! Rock and Roll, Let It Rock, or Johnny B. Good would be cool
Beatles
Basically some older songs could be cool, and obviously optional so if you don't like the older, often slower songs, you wouldn't have to download them.

Personal wishes

Tenacious D - I understand they are normally a duet, but JB seems like the kind of guy who would join in on this, similarly to The Metal in GHIII.

Disturbed - A group with cool sound, and a unique vocal pattern that would be fun to watch people attempt.

Queen - same reason as Disturbed. Would love to sing Can't Stop Me Now, and others.

Red- maybe

Stryper - This group is awesome and would be equally awesome in Rock Band. They were around in the mid 80's, took a break and are back together, so they would probably welcome the publicity, and their songs would be fantastically fun to play. If you've never heard of them, and you like fast metal with soaring vocals you should check 'em out. Specifically To Hell with the Devil, Reborn (newer song), and Free (older song) I would pay much to play their songs. Definitely check them out.
To Hell With the Devil - on their myspace at http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=7009042
Free - [URL="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIkchk19GV8&feature=related"]

The Faint - Paranoia Attack

Muse - Several possible

Sixx AM - Life is Beautiful

More Kiss, Megadeth, and Iron Maiden

Maybe an AFI or MCR, not my thing for normal listening, but for some reason those kind of songs are fun to play, (Dead! in GHII as an example)

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Staind
Metallica
ZZTop
Whitesnake
Soul Asylum
Poison
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Live
Linkin Park
Green Day
Foreigner
Creed
Collective Soul
Boston
Black Crowes
AC\DC

Nice list...I'd add some Anthrax to it and call it good.

Yes people are still adding bands because maybe, just maybe Harmonix will take note and add these artists. Its a forum no need to be rude and start a flame war.
With that said I have some that I would love to see added. Forgive me if these are repeats as I did not read through the entire list.

Clutch- The grooves, rythms etc. especially off thier current album would be phenominal for RB.
Pantera
Evanesence
Coldplay
Chevelle
White Stripes
Led Zepplin

You do realize that is what the entire "Your Ultimate Setlist" Board is for right? This topic however was never meant for that, if you read even the first post you as well as anyone else who posted song lists in here would know this, and people would probably notice it more too if you had your own threads dedicated to what you thought would make good songs for DLC.

Ultimate Set List:
This is really hard to choose. Mostly do to all the really good music out there, but, if I could:

1. As One Song
"Lost Carol" – 0:37 [performed by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn]
"You're Not Here" – 3:46 [performed by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn]

2. "Your Rain" – 4:42 [performed by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn]

Yes I know that these three songs are from the Konami video game Silent Hill 3 and Silent Hill 4, but this is an ultimate set list right. lol

3. "Halo" - performed by Dogstar

4. "Weapon of Choice" - performed by Victim Effect

5. "Burn" - performed by The Cure

6. "More Human than Human: performed by White Zombie

7. "Devil's Rejects" - performed by Rob Zombie

8. "Hurt" - performed by Nine Inch Nails

9. "Hurt" - performed by Johnny Cash (yes it is a good verison)

10. "Way to Fall" - performed by Starsailor

I think a package for Mastodon needs to be included in the downloadable content. They are one of the driving forces in alternative/metal and some of their songs would be probably at the top of the most fun to play list. Songs like Capillarian Crest in which the drums are blaring and the guitars would be a blast to play and though the vocals would be difficult the pitch varies a lot. Iron Tusk is simple yet quick paced and an adaption of this would be fun as hell. I'd love to see March of The Fire Ants and quite possibly Colony of Birchmen.

I would like to see some more metal become available. Bullet For My Valentine and some Trivium and All That Remains Any of these bands would enhance the difficulty ten fold on all the instruments. I'd also like to see some cKy and Sevendust

I know you guys are making an entire Who album to download for Rock Band, but Who's Next is missing the one song you guys need to really put on there. That song is My Generation. Just listen to it, it's perfect for Rock Band. The vocals would be super fun to sing, especially with the stuttering, and the Bass gets it's own solo, and at the end, the drums goes into a crazy whirlwind that would definitely put it in the impossible difficulty list. Please don't ignore this song, that's all I ask.

Ever since i've gotten RB, iv been thinking about what kinda stuff would be sick-nasty to play... ie sweet vocals, intense guitar, and beastly drumming----
here are some artists that i thought would work exceptionally well:
DragonForce
System of a Down
Hendrix
Rage against the Machine
Limp Bizkit
Linkin Park

these are some that particularly stood out in my mind...

Well i hope you (Harmonix) take this into concideration. I'd love to see songs from these artists (esp. the first 4!) and would be willing to buy them all if they were released for downloadable content.:D

Dear Harmonix,

A song I would love to see for download is Christmas Jam by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The only reason I could think of for not making it is that the song is very light on the lyrics, though there are some sounds that could take advantage of the mic's percussive ability. Thank you for considering.

Love,

I'm glad they have Radiohead in the game, but they need to have their "rivals" included in the game. Their already included in Guitar Hero III but, their talent goes way beyond the drums.

Who's the band, you ask? MUSE. They are a very talented group, and I would like to see many talented people playing Rock Band take the challenge. I've been dreaming of this band to be in this game since day one. EA, MTV, and Harmonix have to take this band highly into consideration.

Knights of Cydonia would be pretty epic. Get on it, HMX!

Please no more glam! That's why GH 80's sucked so bad. One of the main reasons I bought this game was because the set list is mostly alternative with some good punk and a bit of classic rock. I know DLC is optional and all, but if they're working on junk like Breakin' the Law by Judas Priest, they're wasting time they could be spending on Stairway to Heaven or something.

Looking forward to full album DLC. Nevermind is great (Bleach would have been awesome), Metallica...not so much.

One song you have to get in Rock Band? "What Would Brian Boitano Do?" by DVDA, AKA the South Park guys, Matt Stone and Trey Parker's band. You already have one song made by Trey and Parker, the Timmy song, so that gives me a little hope that WWBD might someday be in RB. It may have a couple of dirty lines, or really just one at the end, but it's not too dirty to put in the game. It would just be a lot of fun to play, because the song is crazy, off the wall, and hilarious. The chicken wing section alone would make it worth it.

Anyone who's interested, the song is

What Would Brian Boitano Do - DVDA

Anyone can agree that it would be a great song for RB

The guys (and girl) that I play with aren't rabid rock fans, so a lot of the lists I've seen are of songs and bands we've never heard of. One thing that I've noticed is that the more well-known and universally liked the song is, the better time we have playing it, so here's a few songs I thing would make Rock Band even better in '08

Simple Minds - Don't Forget About Me
Metallica - Turn the Page
Roots - The Seed 2.0
Cold War Kids - Hang Me Up to Dry
Bush - Come Down
Three Days Grace - I Hate Everything About You
Stone Temple Pilots - Plush
Evanescence - Call Me When You're Sober
Tom Cochrane - Life Is a Highway
Eagles - Hotel California
Guns 'N Roses - Sweet Child O'Mine
Guns 'N Roses - Paradise City
Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall
Incubus - Drive
Incubus - Dig
Rolling Stones - Start Me Up
Staind - Outside
Staind - Right Here
Staind - It's Been Awhile
Run DMC - Walk This Way
Three Doors Down - The Road I'm On
Three Doors Down - Kryptonite
Aerosmith - Dream On
Gym Class Heroes - Papercuts
John Mayer - Belief
John Mayer - Don't Trust Myself With Loving You
Linkin Park/Jay-Z - Jigga What/Faint
Linkin Park - No More Sorrow
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Scar Tissue
Red Hot Chili Peppers - City of Angels
Stereophonics - Maybe Tomorrow
Crazy Town - Butterfly
Hinder - Lips of an Angel

Just a few recommendations. Awesome job, Harmonix. Keep it coming.

I only want one song to play in DLC

The Boys of Summer - Don Henley

great recognizable song, slamming drum beats, and at least two distinct guitar parts, even a nice solo thrown in there. I need to play this song

ancientwolf13
12-18-2007, 04:55 AM
I can definitely list a lot more songs than this from my library of over 2500+ rock songs, but I'm keeping this set list as my top preferences. My family loves to play it, but my mom wants some more older stuff like the Beatles which is her favorite band and the hits I have listed below are what the rest of us enjoy lol.

1. Three Days Grace - Home
2. Lacuna Coil - Our Truth
3. Rammstein - Engel (English Version)
4. Green Day - Blvd of Broken Dreams
5. Adema - Giving In
6. Crossfade - Cold
7. Chris Daughtry - Home
8. Chevelle - Vitamin R
9. The Beatles - All My Loving
10. Blind Melon - No Rain
11. Blink 182 - Stay Together For The Kids
12. Blur - Song 2
13. Breaking Benjamin - So Cold
14. Bush - Machine Head
15. Cracker - Low
16. The Cranberries - Zombie
17. Evanescence - Going Under
18. Finger Eleven - Paralyzer
19. Fuel - Bad Day
20. Godsmack - I Stand Alone
21. Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc
22. Hoobastank - Crawling In The Dark
23. The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army
24. Steppenwolf - Magic Carpet Ride
25. Korn - Got The Life

And maybe you can throw in the Ulitmate Song for vocals to master.
REM - Its The End Of The World As We Know It

Please no more glam! That's why GH 80's sucked so bad.

You're kidding, right? What did you *expect* from Guitar Hero 80s?

That's like saying you thought Dance Dance Revolution sucked because you only like to waltz.

I don't *think* you're forced to download any of the new content, so if (heaven forfend) they should do an 80's hair metal song, you can safely retreat into whatever alt song soothes your troubled soul.

People, listen everyone has a right to determine what they want to play on the game however there are some songs that won't make the cut. This is to see what songs we would download, they are trying to improve a product that is allready good, but make it great. I don't like all of the complaining that someone is watching us (see big brother syndrome.) here is my ultimate list that i can dream of buying to download.

Led Zeppelin When the leevee breaks

Jimi Hendrix Axis bold as love

the Cream Politician

Tool Lateralus

Rage against the machine Maggie's farm (cover)

Metallica don't tread on me

Radiohead Paranoid android

Red hot chilli peppers can't stop, and hey oh,

The Offspring feelings, americana (too many f bombs) but cool track

green day Novicane or When I come around

The Beattles Revolution

pink floyd Shine on you crazy diamond or Time

Incubus The warmth

Gov't mule Cortez the killer (Cover)

gov't mule w/ ben harper: lay your burden down.

one day, I hope to buy or purchase a funk band, with james brown the ohio players, and Parliament, maybe rick james on it.

wheres the hair?

how bout some of these great 80s metal bands:

Motley Crue (Livewire, Dr. Feelgood)
Def Leppard (Rock of Ages, Rocket, Animal...classics)
Queensryche (eyes of a stranger?)
Iron Maiden (run to the hills is ok, but boring on guitar...i need more iron!)
Ozzy (cmon, someone needs to get crazy train or mr. crowley)
Bon Jovi (wanted dead or alive is crazy, but what about some more?)
Billy Squire (The Stroke? cmon, thats rock!)
Anthrax (Bring Tha Noise would be insane as a rap track)
Alice Cooper
Night Ranger
Scorpions
UFO
Pantera
Van Halen (what's rock band without one of the greatest guitarists ever behind Hendrix?)
etc...

These are the epitome of bands, and they are overwhelmingly outnumbered in rock band by crappy modern emo rock. I mean, c'mon; Fallout Boy and the Killers and 30 Seconds to Mars or whatever aren't even bands. Guitar Hero had the right idea with their mainly-metal soundtrack, and it would be even better with the drums from rock band.

BTW, my ultimate 5 song setlist would be played in Japan:

Maiden Japan:

Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love by Van Halen
Rock You Like a Hurricane by Scorpions
Message in a Bottle by The Police
Fade to Black by Metallica
Cemetery Gates by Pantera
Encore: Hallowed be Thy Name by Iron Maiden:cool:

Stuff from The Smiths would be so brilliant as well.
Finally can we get some "Boys Are Back in Town" by Thin Lizzy in here?!

Not to attempt to knock rock band or anything it stands for, but I throw alot of parties and with my friends it's hard to get a good game goin because we're more familiar with r&b and rap. maybe some old Prince (when he was knonw as...) or some hip hop with music instead of a beat machine... maybe i'm reaching but alot more sales would take place (i think) if this new technology would open up to different genres... just a thought

Honestly, I have about 70 songs, but I'm losing interest in the game because I've played every song over and over. If a new 3-Pack came out every week, I would have to keep coming back and re-newing my love for the game.

Rock was most popular in the late 70's to early 90s. This is a fact. This game needs weekly DLC and should start with these 3-Packs.

Remember this is a game that is playing well at parties. The songs in ALL CAPS are either great for guitar, great for drums, or great for everyone for singing at a party. Some of these songs should be in the game simply because "Rock and Roll" is in the title.

AC/DC - ROCK AND ROLL AIN'T NOISE POLLUTION (Guitar / Title)
AC/DC - Thunderstruck
AC/DC - You Shook Me All Night Long

Bad Company may be a stretch for you young kids, but listen to these songs and dream of playing them on the drums.

Bad Company - FEEL LIKE MAKING LOVE (Party)
Bad Company - ROCK AND ROLL FANTASY (Guitar / Title)
Bad Company - CAN'T GET ENOUGH (Drums)

Billy Squier - EVERYBODY WANTS YOU (Drums)
Billy Squier - THE STROKE (Drums)
Billy Squeir - Lonely Is TheNight

Cheap Trick - I WANT YOU TO WANT ME (Party)
Cheap Trick - Ain't That A Shame
Cheap Trick - Surrender

Def Leppard - Rock Of Ages
Def Leppard - PHOTOGRAPH (Drums)
Def Leppard - POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME (Party)

Guns And Roses - Welcome To The Jungle
Guns And Roses - Nightrain
Guns And Roses - PARADISE CITY (Drums / Party)

J. Geils Band - Centerfold
J. Geils Band - Love Stinks
J. Geils Band - Musta Got Lost (Live)

Journey - DON'T STOP BELIEVIN' (Party)
Journey - Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'
Journey - Any Way You Want It

Led Zeppelin - WHOLE LOTTA LOVE(Drums / Guitar)
Led Zeppelin - BLACK DOG (Drums / Guitar)
Led Zeppelin - ROCK AND ROLL (Drums / Guitar / Title)

Led Zeppelin - Heartbreaker
LedZeppelin - Livin', Lovin' Maid
Led Zeppelin - Kashmir

Queen - Another One Bites The Dust
Queen - WE WILL ROCK YOU (Drums / Guitar / Title / Party)
Queen - WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS (Party)

The Rolling Stones - Shattered
The Rolling Stones - IT'SONLY ROCK AND ROLL (Title)
The Rolling Stones - Honky Tonk Woman

Van Halen (Not Van Hagar)
Van Halen - YOU REALLY GOT ME (Drums / Guitar / Party)
Van Halen - I'll Wait
Van Halen - PANAMA (Party)

Singles
Billy Joel - It's Still Rock And Roll To Me
The Clash - Train In Vain
Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight
Styx - RENEGADE (Drums)

Classic Rock Pack #1
The Eagles - Heartache Tonight
Joe Wlash - ALL NIGHT LONG (Party)
Joe Walsh - Life's Been Good

When this is played at parties, . . . girls like to get involved and many of them like these songs, . . . keep the wives involved and we can all play a lot longer.

Ballad Pack #1
Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight
Guns And Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine
Journey - Faithfully

Ballad Pack #2
Cheap Trick - The Flame
Night Ranger - Sister Christian
The Rolling Stones - Beast Of Burden

freaking LOVE all the 90s alternative stuff they packed into this game.
lets keep it coming!

PIXIES - anything. everything. (although my neighbors might complain if you manage to add "Tame" to the dlc).

PAVEMENT - one of the best bands of the 90s is nowhere to be found on the setlist :( if those full albums ever get released, 'Slanted and Enchanted' is a must.

SONIC YOUTH - I just saw them perform 'Daydream Nation' in its entirety and goddamn! that would be a hell of show to emulate in World Tour Mode.

SINGLES SOUNDTRACK - a perfect fit, this soundtrack is made of awesomesauce! the music behind cameron crowe's ode to the seattle grunge scene has some of the best songs these bands ever did. including:
Would? - Alice In Chains (amazing)
Dyslexic Heart - Paul Westerberg (surprised the Replacements aren't represnted already, too)
Birth Ritual - Soundgarden (when they were more of a metal band. rules!)
State Of Love And Trust - Pearl Jam (fav pearl jam song of all time)
Waiting For Somebody - Paul Westerberg (and yes, with songs like tehse he deserves to be on here twice)
Drown - Smashing Pumpkins (again, one of their best songs and i don;t think it came out on any of their albums).

also of note: Pixies - Digging for Fire and Temple of the Dog which are not on the actual soundtrack but are heard in the movie.

come to think of it, great soundtracks (though few and far between) would be a really fun concept to play with.

im surprised by the lack of Sonic Youth on Rock Band. they are one of those bands with a balance between instruments and vocals, and it's a great choice for RB

They need a Rolling Stones pack with Start Me Up, Paint it Black, You can't always get what you want. Any Stones would be awesome.

Pearl Jam - Better Man.

Saturday's alright for fighting - Nickleback's cover of Elton John

Champaign Supernova - Oasis

Sweet Home Alabama - Lynard Skynard

Paradise City, Welcome to the Jungle - Guns n' Roses

Somebody told me, All these things I've done - The Killers

Small Town - John Cougar Melloncamp

Pretty Vegas - INXS

Flagpole Sitta - Harvey Danger

Collective Soul Pack

You Give love a Bad name - Bon Jovi

Walk this way - Aerosmith

I was trying to think of a good Nickleback song to put in there. I'm not much of a fan of them, but I know they have a large fan base and I do think they are all right.

As for "Run To The Hills", it's already in Rock Band (as a rather good cover) and it's one of the hardest songs I have ever played in a music game. Much respect to anyone who's mastered it on any instrument.

I think this pack would make a great game even better. Thank you for listening Rock Band and thank you for making THE BEST GAME EVER!!

TO EVERYONE THAT HAS SUGGESTED SONGS AND/OR BANDS HERE:

READ THE FIRST POST OF THE THREAD BEFORE POSTING IN ANY THREAD, INCLUDING THIS ONE!!!

Even if a HMX developer made it. Sheesh, seriously, It's not like they're going to listen to you. Mainly because you guys strayed off-topic and started posting setlists just because Sean made the topic.

And I wouldn't be surprised if someone suggested more bands/songs after I said this.

The Keyboard can be done through anything though, you can have a lead guitar do that, for example.

Anyway, some songs that I would love to see in the game, eventually.
The Beatles- While my Guitar Gently Weeps
The Beatles- Tomorrow Never Knows
The Beatles- Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds
Bon Jovi- Living on a Prayer
Coheed and Cambria- In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3
Coheed and Cambria- The Suffering
Cream- Sunshine of Your Love
Derek and the Dominos- Layla
Dragonforce- Through the Fire and Flames
Dragonforce- Lost Souls in Endless Time
Drea- Justified
Iron Maiden- Aces High
Iron Maiden- Powerslave
Iron Maiden- Brave New World
Journey- Any Way You Want It
Jethro Tull- Aqualung
Metallica- Master of Puppets
Queen- Headlong
Rainbow- Stargazer
Sex Pistols- God Save the Queen
Wolfmother- Minds Eye
The Zoutons- Tired of Hanging Around

And, if your on the lookout for unsigned indie bands, check these guys out, they are not as well known but they are pretty good. All are from the NY area, and they represent different genres, from progressive to metal to punk.

Silver Spade- Living Dead
Race The Sun- Under Polluted Skies
When Distance Fails- I'll Call You
Midway- Dance With Alcohol
Black Water Rising-Brother Go On
