The Official "Rock Band 'LINK TO GAME' Fix Petition" Thread

Hello people. Today after witnessing many threads and posts to the infamous "LINK TO GAME" bug plus all the issues with the leaderboards that we seem to be experienced, I decided to start a free online petition for those that want to properly show to EA and Harmonix that we not few and that a feature such as a band profile that might seem minimal to some is what could make the community more united than it could ever be without it.

I signed the petition because it been more than 3 weeks and don't even see that customer service is worried or at least giving us news that they are working on it... and that shows a little interest on the consumers.. :mad:

From what I heard, I believe it's been longer than that; in fact, I bought Rock Band no longer than 2 weeks ago but I just don't want to wait, and I believe customer intervention is necessary, especially based on the price of the product. When I think about it, Rock Band is the most expensive game I have ever purchased; not to say it wasn't worth it, but for every feature that has been promised, I am willing to take advantage of it all.

i signed it, and im glad someones actually trying to do something about this. im pissed off that i cant link everything, and my drum pedal broke + wammy bar is messed, so i kinda just feel like taking it back n doing something else with my money

It's sad because apart from problems like the ones mentioned, this game is amazing; in fact I am playing it right now!

1 - "LINK TO GAME" is a feature that supposedly allows you to link your Playstation Network or Xbox Live Account with your Rock Band's website account; assuming you do that, I don't know the exact result other than being able to see your scores and band profiles - however it's bugged, people haven't been able to link;

2 - For the people that are already linked, some are having issues with the leaderboard not getting updated, and once again, it's something that didn't happen this week or the week before; it's a problem that apparently was swept under the carpet.

When I think about it, Rock Band is the most expensive game I have ever purchased; not to say it wasn't worth it, but for every feature that has been promised, I am willing to take advantage of it all.

I agree with this, I actually bought my PS3 so I could have Rock Band and then I also bought (2) Two game bundles so I could have a second guitar.

PS3 - $499
RB Bundle - $169 x 2
HDMI Cable - $24 x 2
Plus Tax - .0825%

Total cost around $958.01

for a video game and thats also a reason I have not added any DLC to my collection yet, I am for sure not disappointed in the cost nor the game I LUV IT

but I want to drain as much as I can from the features

Thanks for the good news, bigwilly. If only a notice like this was announced more publicly, say if Staff opened a thread dedicated to getting the said character names and such, I probably would never have opened this thread. Either way, I believe it's important to show the range of people that are getting affected by this.


I have a ps3 and it all works fine for me.

I do understand there are systems that still work, but judging by your Join Date (Nov 2007), I can only assume you managed to link the game successfully at least 3 months before I opened this thread, which means you managed to link the game at a time that it didn't have any problems.

To derrikirred, in addition to that, how do you know that your Leaderboard entries are being updated? Which the majority of us believe now is the probable cause of our linking woes.

I've been trying to link my account only since yesterday (ps3) but judging by this thread and numberous others, I can see I'm not alone

Yep this is a load of crap why can't we get this link to game working. I have had rock band for 1 month and I would like to link it it sucks but these idiots won't fix it. I have PS3 and wounder if the Microsoft XBOX users are having the same issues.

I really think that if something like this gets fixed, the community will be a lot more united outside the forums and also more competitive. With that said, there will eventually be community-based tournaments and the such, who knows maybe a "record label", and by that I mean the equivalent of a guild/clan/team, where different bands are allied together and as such will have their signature songs, the ones that they score best, which would most likely even include DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT songs!

What does that mean? Are you saying the actual website profiles haven't been updated in a while, so you have characters there that you don't anymore?

By the way, although not expressed earlier, feel free to spread the word on other forums about this petition; after all, I don't believe every single person that has problems with the game would visit the forums; in fact they might check other ones like QJ's or Playstation's.

I just got Rock Band yesterday and I played most of the nite and all day up till now and I found out I can link game to site like GH3 so im all WOO HOO i'm gonna rule easy scores ;p I find this site usin google then make my acc like a few mins ago then try and link and BAM mo'fo says I put wrong ID and code I decide before breaking my TV i'll try and check in game again for code I have my code exact as they say so i try 1 more time and again this happens so i'm pissed off I was gonna break guitar then i'm all forums should have help right?Nope just other people like me (kinda) havin same prob. well I guess at least im not alone..... oh and i play guitar in RB I can't play drums to well and I got a raspy voice so haha no singin well I hope EA get that stick out there ars and fixes this prob soon.

just some friendly advice bro, being that you are new, insulting the people who develope and support the game you need help with is not the best way to get them to help. I am sure the folks over at HMX are working to fix this issue and will let us know as soon as its ready.

It's cool I guess, however although I agree with misfit when it comes to throwing violent comes at the staff, the fact that there is no public notice is very painful to all of us due to the fact that there is nothing better in this case than a good communication pattern between the company and the consumer. It feels like we are sending an SOS and not getting an answer back, even if there is a boat on the way to save us.

Thanks for making this thread, though, because I had just posted on what the heck linking is, and things about the leaderboard. This took care of it.

Make sure you use your windows live id login (username=email and pw), not your gamertag login when you are linking.

It's a sticky thread on the PS3 Linking subject that we are talking about, straight from one of the developers. I am not going to guarantee this is a result of this thread in particular, but all the previous threads didn't seem to cause an effect that's for sure. Whether the credit is due here or not, I am glad that there is FINALLY an official notice on how things are going! :)

Good news people. Today just because I was bored I decided to try linking instead of waiting for an official notice, and guess what... It worked! I wrote the code in CAPS and it was successful! So if you guys haven't yet, try it again today! You might have the same luck I did!

Well to tell you the truth, that was the good news: that it worked for me. It almost feels like they intentionally set it up so it works JUST for me lol. But there are bad news that I didn't realize: now I am part of the crowd that doesn't have the scores and such updated, since my characters' cash is completely off by like 5,000 each!

Actually got my linking to work today! Though I did get 2 gateway timeout errors after entering my PSN & website code & clicking the button to link.

The info is not necessarily up to date, it shows deleted characters, is missing one band, missing several recently created characters, and the scores/cash amounts are old as well. I also PM'd HMXJohnlok a few days ago with my character names, band names, PSN name & website code. Perhaps people who supplied this info are getting fixed up faster than those who don't?

It, it worked for me too!! in my case, there was a character in my code that looks like an "o" but since someone said that the code worked in capital letters, I tried an "0" (number zero) and I finally linked the damn thing!!

Maybe in my case it wasn't HMX fault at all..but hell, at least they can give more "readable" codes isn't it?

And thanks to tenchibr for the caps suggestion, it eventually led me to the solution.
