Hey guys.. First off I just want to get it outta my system how much better Rock Band is than ANY GH out there! Oh and for all you saying it's just a rip off of GH, it's not..it's the original developer of the genre you idiots! It's just improved a ton!!
Anyways...The topic of this thread is music. Sure the songs are fun to play, but once you have played them a few times over they get really...really.....REALLY repetitive, and yes, boring. The only ones that are still fun to play are the modern ones. The ones that people actually listen to. I can't remember the last time I wanted to play a song from some yahoo band...one that I have never heard before. Me, and every fan of this game genre I know of, want to play songs we connect to, GOOD songs. The teenage fanbase for RB and GH is amazing. Let us play songs we actually listen to. I know the developers are putting music in that they grew up on...and that's fine. ...all im saying is it's been done, and then done again, and done yet again.. What I mean is think of how many 80's songs are on the 3 GH games put together (that's NOT counting Rock The 80s). Oh and they are making a GH:Aerosmith... COME ON GUYS! This is your chance to do something fresh! Stomp on GH:Aerosmith with new, fresh music. Good music tho. Am I the only one that is wondering wtf weezer is doing on this game? The DLC is getting pumped out fast, and that's the good part...but the terrible part is the song choices for it. We don't want Oasis. No Weezer. Look guys I'm not saying I hate the older music, just the stupid older music. If you want good 80's, do Def Leppard, Boston, Journey, Foreigner...stuff like that.
Here is a list of GOOD bands they should be putting as DLC, instead of this old, unheard, stupid music that is coming out:
Paramore
Linkin Park (Older songs are better)
Lostprophets (From latest two cds)
Saosin
Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
Anberlin
AFI
Angels and Airwaves
Story of the Year
30 Seconds To Mars
Boys Like Girls
Breaking Benjamin
Sugarcult
Sum 41
Cartel
A Change of Pace
Coldplay
Death Cab for Cutie
Evanescence
Evans Blue
Taking Back Sunday
Fall Out Boy
Gorillaz
Hawthorne Heights
Hoobastank
Jimmy Eat World
The Killers
Logan Square
Matchbook Romance
My Chemical Romance
Quietdrive
Switchfoot
Three Days Grace
Trapt
Yellowcard
+44
My point people, is that the music that gets played over and over is the stuff that doesn't get old as quick as the stuff that's already old. ...Am I the only one who agrees with this theory? ..the only one who is ready for some fresh music? ...Listen to ANY of these bands and you will be wondering how in the freak Timmy and the **** of the underworld, and Honest Bob and the factory to whatever even made it on the game.. Oh another quick question: you wonder why people aren't completely blown away with RB? ...how some are still hung up on GH? ....the music..
...wouldn't it be nice..

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude. Guess how old I am?
Fourteen. Yup. Fourteen.
Guess what music I want in Rock Band?
The classic rock and metal and stuffs. Bon Jovi, Megadeth, Guns N' Roses, Ozzy, Sabbath, Dio, Van Halen...
Music was better in the '70s and '80s for one reason: Production. There was the perfect amount from every band. Not too much, not too little. Now you see bands putting out albums with songs about "ZOMG MI GIRLFREND LEFT ME I WAN 2 END AL DIS ****" over and over.
Not to say there aren't good modern bands. Foo Fighters, Stone Sour, Airbourne, all that stuff. But a lot of the **** on your list is over-produced emo ****.

Wow, either a lot of you are elitists, or automatically disregard bands because they're not from the 80's or before. I like Zeppelin and Pink Floyd as much as the next person, but at least I'm open minded enough to listen to some bands that aren't old (GASP!) for example, Breaking Benjamin and Linkin Park. God forbid.

listen, I love the Weezer music in the game, and Oasis i enjoy also... But i do agree with him some bit, in the way that when your playing with a bunch of your friends or family... a lot of just average music knowing people, it is not fun to sing and jam out to songs YOU DONT KNOW! I'm not saying dont add great 80's music, or anything of that nature, all i am saying is that a few mainstream rock songs would be nice. Just for the reasons i listed above. I mean maybe 5 songs! thats it! Would be perfect. And whoever said that highschoolers are the ones always *****ing about the "old" music, Plenty of kids my age in high school love Classic Rock! Hendrix, ACDC, Zeppelin, Cream, Clapton, ect.... So don't stereotype please. And one other thing, no offense but high schoolers are the majority of the players of this game I.M.O., so their opinnion pry means more to Harmonix than adults.

Actually high schoolers are not the majority of people that play this game. I read somewhere it was like 25+ that make up the majority of players.

I agree. If you do some research, most people playing this game and many others are college age and up. I have read that numerous times, you want proof go look it up yourself, I know what I have read. I also agree thats not the best list of bands by far. Someone singled out Linkin Park, I liked them for awhile, but man they sure are good at re-producing the same song each time:)

So all teens listen to is modern crap? Rock Band hasn't even touched most of classic rock (licensing issues). You know how many modern songs are in Rock Band? IMO anything after 2000 sucked basically.

Actully I don't
and I'm 15 too
I listen to bands that are related to Metal and Hardcore, but i'm not into the classics.
Bands I like before the 2000's:
RAGE
Metallica
Pezz
Some Aerosmith
AC/DC
and almost any metal band started in the 90's

You know, I used to think that one didn't have to be musically inclined to properly HEAR a song, and hear all its components. The more I'm on these boards, the more I'm convinced that I was wrong.
People always claim that modern bands are boring, repetitive, and lack skill. I'm sorry, but most people have absolutely no ear. This isn't to say a lot of modern bands suck, because a lot do, don't get me wrong. :p But being repetitive? That's what music IS. That's what a chorus is. Just because something may be stripped down, it doesn't mean the people can't play. Not every song has to be 15 minutes long with a 10 minute guitar solo.
It really seems like there's a lot of hate for newer bands... probably because they're automatically shunned because they're modern. God forbid people play music today. Would you rather bands just stop making music, so we can forever bask in the glory that is 60's and 70's rock? I've been playing in concert bands for 10 years now, and to me there's no better way to build up an "ear" for music, when you have to listen for so many instruments and entrances, etc. But, am I elitist? No, I like everything from classical, to classic rock, to modern rock.

while ill concede that they do need to expand the music selection,
*personal opinion warning* a large part of the bands you have listed are FAR from the demographic of people who can afford to buy this game for themselves** also id like to point out that i can listen to weezer all day (oasis not so much but i just have a thing about his voice). SO yes more varried music would be a good thing. but tbh, i dont know about your friends, but the people i know that listen to that cross section of music would rather spend that $ on beer then DLC and thats the real key...simple formula: $ > all
and the bands they've focused on have higher apeal accross a wider demographic
...in closing, next time you wonder where your favorite band is, remember, its just business

I'd be up for more modern music being offered as DLC as well as older music, but there's more to modern music than "indie"/emo/"pop-punk". Not to say that stuff doesn't belong in Rock Band, but there's other stuff out there. Also, there's a lot of people interested in 70's rock and metal that want music they can have fun playing too.
I don't like a lot of those bands, but I think "The Middle" would be a fun Rock Band track. Also, "Pain" was in one of the Karaoke Revolution games, I believe, so there's always a chance of some Jimmy Eat World being in the game.
Personally, I'd like some 50's Rock n' Roll than modern stuff right now. There's nothing pre-1960 on here and some Chuck Berry stuff could really be awesome in here.

There are many different age ranges, I am 33 and some of these songs I have never even heard off. There should be songs from all different age genre's, but if they are putting three songs out a week.. do a couple new, one old or the other way around. I am all for some newer stuff.. but it is great to play some of the older stuff as well.. The older stuff (that everyone has heard of and not just something off the wall) is what makes this game fun to me. I honestly think that all of the different suggestions don't really make a difference in what they choose... it is out of our control. In other words we are waisting our time. I will never get the songs that I want... Journey, Foreigner.. skid row, Motley crue, Ratt... Beatles, Fleetwood Mac.. Dave mathews, Def Leppard.... Guns N' Roses.. Either way, I doubt we will all get what we want.

Yeah, that was a joke.
Personally, I can't wait for GH: Aerosmith. One of the best rock bands ever, and I'm sure that it'll sell crazily, especially if it's got the drums and vocals included.
As for your choice in DLC... I couldn't disagree with you even more. Though there are some bands on there such as...
Paramore
Anberlin
AFI (more of the old, like Midnight Sun :D)
30 Seconds To Mars (which they already have 2 songs for dlc)

And alot of those bands would barely fit in onto rock band.
I can agree with you when it comes to having a load of crappy bands and songs put on rock band (B52's... omg KILL) But you have poor taste in music if the majority of the songs don't appeal to you after so many times.
And my theory is that people only like guitar hero still because they're a bunch of hardcore fanboys, or that they like the difficulty that GH has over RB ('When You Were Young" and "Cherub Rock" are much more difficult on GH)
So, I give you the permission to get over you and your justice

k That is exactly what I'm trying to get at.. If they had even put more hit 80s songs in the game it wouldn't have been as bad... (No def leppard??) ..Seriously tho the music that people turn on the radio and hope to listen to is the kind of music that would make this game way fun! And let's face it, most of the stuff that is on the radio is newer, modern stuff. Oh and I do agree that teens make up a big part of the players, cuz all my friends on it are teens...but the only reason adults make up the actual majority is cuz of the music. Teens don't have any music game out yet that they can connect to so to speak.... The game developers have aimed these type of games for their generation.. All I'm saying is its about time we got our game too

K so majority is adults right now...but wouldn't it be a better decision (for gamers and developers) to include some of these bands? Not only will you have the devote 80s fans, but also the modern teen group! Perfect business plan for both sides. Now you can't argue with that...I don't think people bought this game or played it ONLY for the music.
Heck, whenever I saw the tracks that were going to be released for this game, I told my self "this is so not gonna be worth buying or playing". The only thing I was looking forward to was Nirvana, Metallica, Flyleaf, and Aerosmith. But then I play it, and I'm automatically addicted and love the game right away. I even listen to some of those "old crappy" songs that are on Rock Band now because I can "connect to them", and the music's catchy. Same goes for the Guitar Hero series (cept for Rock the 80's)
So generally, I think the game relies more on what would be enjoyable to play, not solely on the gamers taste in music. It wouldn't be that much of a market strategy.
And it's not like it's easy for the developers to where they can go on Limewire and be like "Ok! Download this song, make the charts, and voila!". Otherwise, I'm sure there might be a few Beatles songs on here already (cover versions, of course)
