Harmonix has yet to release anything on dates yet. Gamestop and EB games and all those sites/stores just used those dates as an estimate. And Gamepro just added a tiny little thing at the very end of their article "Get ready for your band to go around the world on November 6th!" (Something along those lines). No official evidence or announcements on either date. No one knows for sure. Hope that clears it up.

how do these dates get published anyway? i mean we all know it's not official until we hear it from harmonix or EA...so where exactly did all the retailers get their 11/20 release date from? and every other game for that matter. for the most part theyre pretty accurate. im hoping of course, theyre way off and rock band ends up going head to head w/ GH

I don't know where that first date came from, but games are released on Tuesdays, for some reason, and the 20th is the last Tuesday before Thanksgiving weekend, the biggest shopping day of the year. So maybe it's a "we hope" sort of estimate?

How great would it be out of nowhere HMX announces that its coming out early oct. I honest to god don't know what I would do. I'm so scared that my EB Games is gonna get robbed or something and I'm not gonna make it to play. I'm so stupid. hah :D

Quite simply, this game is on a much larger scale than anything in GH1 or 2. It is only reasonable that they would want as much time as possible to polish, QA, and debug everything.

Compared to GH2, some of the major additions include extra note/lyrics charts for the new instruments, network play, all the character customizations, etc. To quote one of my own developers "That's a massive F'ing body of work!"

By not announcing a "set in stone" release date, they are affording themselves some flexibility in the timing and release. This also assures YOU get the highest quality piece of software possible.

If these dates have any basis in reality, I would guess that Nov. 6 is the date they want to have it out by, in order to get a couple more shipping weeks in before Thanksgiving to restock after the initial sellout, and Nov. 20 is the date they have to have it out by so they don't miss the Thanksgiving shopping weekend. Due to the size of the box, stores won't be able to hold many of them in stock at a time (other than the big box stores of course), so it would be their best interest to have as many shipping dates in between release and the biggest shopping day of the year as possible.

Of course, this is all speculation, which gives me an excuse to meander on about something that sounds rational but is really just my brain trying to justify the hope that Rock Band will come out sooner rather than later.

I just find it annoying that we haven't heard jack from HMX/MTV/EA on any of this. Release Date, Pricing, wired/wireless. Nothing!!
I'm just hoping something comes out of PAX and/or Leipzig.
