Do you guys think they'd be a a good choice for the game?

Was just listening to You're Living All Over Me which is an absolutely amazing album. I'd really like to see this band in the game. They could take pretty much any track from Bug or You're Living All Over Me, although if I could only pick a couple of tracks I'd hope for Sludgefest, Little Fury Things, Freak Scene, or Raisans.

Here's hoping they have Some Dinosaur Jr!

Because they're another alternative band. This is the first time I've ever been in another thread promoting another because I generally thought most people who like Dinosaur Jr., might like to listen to Urge Overkill. It was only one part of my entire post.

I'll compare who I want, when I want. You decided it pertinent to double post purely to berate me for equating Dinosaur Jr. to Urge Overkill. I only did this because I thought someone might like both bands. It wasn't directed at people who hate either band.

'Puke + Cry' is my favorite Dinosaur Jr. song, I think it would fit well with the catchy drum beat. But 'Freak Scene' would be the "obvious" choice for the game. But they might pick one of the new album for all I know.

If you were a fan of the grunge movement then you should probably give them a try. Along with Pixies and Husker Du (as well as several others) they were pivotal inspirations for the likes of Nirvana, Mudhoney, and Soundgarden. If you don't like any of that music then fair enough, but if you are a fan of alternative rock in the early 90s then you probably shouldn't be so quick to dismiss arguably one of the biggest influences on the music of that decade.

Maybe you can borrow You're Living All Over Me from someone. I think that's their best album and of all the videos posted only Little Fury Things is on that album. If you give it a chance I'm pretty sure you'll like the album. If you can't borrow that particular album of anyone then at the very least try and download the song Sludgefeast. The song is amazing, and is my most wanted Dinosaur Jr song for Rock Band.

While I'm not into most of the songs posted here, I would agree with the desire for "Freak Scene" just because it was off the first Jr album I owned and it was a seminal tune for me for that band.

I would be happy to see all of Green Mind done, since I like that entire album nearly cover to cover.

Speaking from a Rock Band perspective, I really look to Where You Been for some songs that I think would be really fun for the whole band.

I'd love Freak Scene too. Even if they took out the "Don't let me **** up will you" part they could allow it to be used instead of whatever they'd use to cover it with. Also the Beyond tracks are pretty good so I could see Been There All the Time as a great pick (although I'd rather Pick Me Up, but that's more of a GH song) especially for the drums, some very dynamic fills in there.

While I would agree that they had an influencing factor to the alt rock of the 90's I don't think Dinosur Jr influenced early bands like Mudhoney as they actually started in another form as early as about 1980-81.

as for older stuff i'd really love to see "puke + cry", and for that awkward mid-period i'd love to see "i don't think so".

To be honest, I like that middle period much more than I do their first 2 albums, though I've been planning on giving them another listen to and seeing if my opinion changes. Bug is still excellent though.

Ew I refuse to pay for downloaded music. I'll buy all the cds I can after I've dled them and seen if I like them, but I'm not gonna pay to own something that's not physical. Bug is out there, there's a torrent or a rapidshare somewhere, since I have it and I haven't bought the CD yet.
