I have a feeling that if everyone stayed away from the forums, this would go so much quicker. The more you look at a clock, the slower time goes. Maybe the same would hold for the forums?

Maybe RB would come out tomorrow? bahaha

When I'm stuck at work all day with nothing to do, I just spend time staring at the forums. It definately make things go a bit slower, but it also keeps my anticipation up. I wish Rock Band came out yesterday haha :D

I like to be on top of news regarding stuff i'm interested in, so i usually come here after work to see what's going on. If there is nothing good I usually just don't come back that day, might check back at night for a sec.

Awesome.

Basically I enjoy the slow wait (believe it or not), I talk too much, and I just love the community here.

If I didn't visit the forums on my breaks, then I would be bored on breaks. Besides, I can't get it out of my head that a release date is coming soon and that the release date doesn't involve November.

Besides, there is a great 360 line up to keep a person busy until Rock Band. This month has an array of sports games, bioshock, and MOH: Airborne. One of those holds me over until Spet., which is Halo 3, which holds me over until October, which if my hunch is wrong about October release, I'll have GTA: IV and then Rock Band. It all works out.

Whats with you and the daggers today? I haven't heard that and it makes me sad... That just means I'll have to take an August title and move it to October.

Did they mention why it was delayed?

Didn't GTA 4 get delayed until 2008? Also I think October Rock Band release is very possible and would be a really nice surprise.

Heres an article on the delay: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/810/810238p1.html

You'll have to wait until next year for GTA IV, it's been pushed back to 2008 for more development time

I have my GH2 and my download songs and whatnot to comfort me until Rock Band comes out.

This is far better than waiting for GH2 360... I played a ton of Frets on Fire in the six months of anticipation. That was torture

If you're on the 360, there's an amazing fall lineup which kicks off this week with Bioshock and then goes on to include Halo 3, Mass Effect, GH3, etc, etc. I am as hyped as anyone, but I'll survive the wait.

Halo 3 is a negative to me. All the press will be pushing even the most minimal news down readers throats. I'm not even picking it up until next year.

For me is the otherway around, actually being in the forums calms my impatience a little bit, the fact the I can talk about the game and other stuff with people who share the same interest helps.

No, its just a hunch I have. It is rare that a company be so mum on a release date as close as this one. The fact that they let Red Octane and GH3 talk so much crap also leads me to believe that they are going to "oh yeah?" them and murder their opening day sales. I honestly believe that if people had a choice, they would buy RB first.

Totally agree with that, GH3 (Assuming RB is released in Nov) is gonna thrive on those first week sales, especially people just buying it as a filler to RB. If RB release is indeed moved up, could potentially crush GH3

it would be great for us if the release date was pushed ahead of schedule, and it would likely be done to compete with GH3. if it does happen though, i wouldnt expect any type of announcement until october, because announcing it prematurely would just allow GH3 time to push up their release.

They should release it 2 weeks before guitar hero 3........ I think its a really good idea business wise too.

I think this talk of a pushed up release date is just wishful thinking. Let's assume the software is "done" or "close to done". (Pretty huge assumption since I've never seen a software project in my life finish ahead of schedule.)

But anyway, assuming all that, ramping up production of the hardware is a time-intensive process. There's factories, shipping, revisions, testing, government red tape, and so on. There's caps on the number of units that can be produced in a given day. (Simply because Joe Blow and his team over in China can only solder so many PCB's a day.) It would not suprise me in the least to see that the hardware from concept to factory is just as intensive a process as the software.

There is precedent for hardware bottlenecks as well. Back in April it was widely believed that Xplorer production was the reason behind a tight supply of GH2 360 units. It would not suprise me if hardware is the reason this 2008 release date for Europe and Australia is being speculated.

McDeezy
08-17-2007, 09:03 PM
But assuming that the hardware is finalized wouldn't that mean they are producing it right now? They have at least a month and a half to make that stuff. I'm sure they would have plenty by oct. I don't know when it was finalized but I read somewhere it was. This could have been a month or so ago meaning even more time to produce. Shouldn't be a problem.

If RB released two weeks before GH3, then I don't think GH would stand a snowball's chance in hell. It people would see how sweet RB was, and shift a lot of opinions.

i know it's wishful thinking, that's why i said it would be great. im not expecting anything. although i do believe they're pretty set on the game itself. id assume at this stage they're working on DLC. the slowdown is the peripheral production. i think they're worried they wont be able to meet the demand. i think that would be good though. it worked for the wii. it would just suck if im lost in the middle of the treasure hunt.

I don't know that would certainly be working on DLC at this point. You'd think they will use every day up until the gold cutoff to refine the retail disc. (After all, if the retail disc isn't any good, who will want downloads?) Based on nothing but wild speculation, my guess is that after RB goes gold, development resources will be diverted into two main projects.

QA plus some sort of dedicated team will be cranking out the insane song downloads. The Rock Bandwagon will rejoice in an ever-flowing orgy of rock n' roll goodness.

The hardcore programmer types will begin work on a from-scratch software engine for the Wii version of Rock Band. (since that seems to be the logical next project in the pipeline)

Anyway, just wild speculation from someone a little too carried away here at work. :)

i agree that theyd still be working on finishing touches to make sure everything is right with the release, but im positive they would be starting on DLC. they need to stockpile some content if they expect to keep their promise of having new DLC every week after release. that was an official announcement. it would be crazy to wait until the last minute to start encoding new tracks.

im at work too :) this game is the devil.

Three cheers for people who browse while at work!

Honestly, it isn't like releasing on the same day as GH3 is like 6 months before release. It is 2 weeks, a month max. They could satisfy preorders on the same day as GH3 and then send out units as they are produced afterward.

I know for sure I want this game more than any others this fall, but I don't want it to be rushed and put out just to compete with GH3. I want a really good game that'll last.

But if it's really done...

Give it to us!:)

Someone should take me hostage and threaten to feed me nothing but crackers and water unless they release Rock Band mid-september. Yeah...they'll give in all right.

Maybe I'll take myself hostage, and just eat crackers and water on my own! ...nuff said 'bout all that...just release the game sometime soon.
