View Full Version : Should the RMA system ask more questions?

Personally I think it should, particularly with drums. When the RMA set that I just received (and promptly shipped back) is received by EA they're going to look, and appear to work great. It isn't until you use them for more than a minute you start to notice dropped notes, etc. If I sent my QM's back, it wouldn't be unless they did a drum roll that the set that it would be apparent they didn't work correctly. The only thing the support site asks about is 'working' drum set.

I guess, I just wonder what they do if they get a 'defective' set back before they decide it's user error and send it back in the field without actually fixing that sets problem...again?

More accurate data would only really serve to benefit EA in terms of technical feedback. They only ask questions on the road to any of the answers in their database. Once they reach the "it's broken, you need replacement" conclusion then that's what happens, your answers to the questions are forgotten and all returns are treated the same.

Yeah, I was thinking more from EA's perspective. It's pretty obvious that a lot of drums are still out there with the same issues:

Random missed notes
Dead spots
Great hit detection, except rolls
etc, etc

It'd be nice, I'd think, to be able to have an idea on WHY the customer is returning a set so they can investigate appropriately and make the appropriate adjustments where necessary.

Case in point: I just RMA'd my set. Got a spanking new set in the mail. At first glance they appeared great, until a full song was played. Then the deadspots become really really noticable and it's impossible to keep a combo. Now, I'm sending back the brand new set because my older set has less issues. Soon as they receive that, I'll try the RMA again.

I just had to get a second RMA for a drum set. The first set they sent me was defective, so I sent those back, kept my old set (which is still slightly playable), and repeated the process.
