This thread isn't in any way meant for arguments of any sort. I am a huge Beatles fan and I am more or less curious of others top favorites by them. Just seems like there has to be songs I've over looked so I figure asking for everyones favorites will give me a good direction to start. Thanks ahead of time for any and all suggestions/favorites. :) (Oh and if you haven't seen the movie Across the Universe yet.. Watch it!)

Well, I have no list, but my favorite is probably While My Guitar Gently Weeps, for George's really nice sounding vocals and the Eric Clapton solo.

Did you know Clapton almost joined The Beatles?

In no particular order, because that would be too hard, and doing this is hard enough:

- I Need You (see the Help! movie)
- In My Life
- Oh! Darling
- Help!
- I'm Looking Through You
- Revolution
- Something
- Here, There, and Everywhere
- A Day In the Life
- Here Comes the Sun, She Loves You, I cheated..

Just got Across the Universe from my Netflix Queue.

Is it suitable for viewing with 10 year old twin boys? They want to see it.

There is one scene that's kinda like eh, Titanic? The girl lays on a couch partially covered and it does show boob sometimes (during the song Something, if that helps). Other then that there is other topless girls later then that, but they're make-up covered if I remember correctly.

Edit: Oh and thanks for the suggestions so far :) Most I know very well but a couple will be checked out soon.

Thanks. Sounds like mom and I need to check it out first.

So -- gonna take these suggestions and make a poll? ;)

Some early ones I like a lot:

You Can't Do That (opening lick alternates between major and minor, very cool)
I'm a Loser
Baby's in Black
Taxman is a great Nickel Creek do a great cover live but I can't find a recorded version
And My Bird Can Sing -- they used to play that as the opener for the Beatles cartoon show way back when

Like your choice of If I Fell -- I resisted the Beatles at first, but that was the song that made me sit up and listen. One of few songs in rock era that has a recit and then the song -- classic song structure.

Thanks :D Yeah my mother grew me up on the Beatles, I'm just a "young buck" at 29, but I appreciate good music. I'll definitely check those out. Ironically since you mentioned Taxman, I saw the Smashing Pumpkins here in Austin back in November and they covered that song in its entirety during one of their encores. I was in heaven. I could easily honestly list 20 or 30 top songs I love by them. To mention a little fond memory. My mom used to sing Good Night to me to have me fall asleep at night when I was really young. Song holds a special place in my heart.

Much appreciated but not necessary ;) I use the song list on "Steve's Beatles Page" great reference tool. I just like seeing what others like, it just seems like great reference to start digging deeper. But again, thank you for offering. Heck if you want to list 10 more songs to check out, by all means. Perhaps others will see the thread and do a "oh yeah, I love that song! Wow I haven't heard that in ages" and perhaps go dust off a vinyl or two. :D

We did the same thing with our twins :D

Have you checked out the "Love" CD -- the one where George Martin and his sons did some remixing/re-editing of songs for a Cirque de Soleil show? It's really cool.

Found live video of this song!!

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0DcV1UI1B6M&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0DcV1UI1B6M&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

It was very rare, almost unheard of I'd say to hear a song in minor key then. And the switch to the major for the bridge is sweet -- everything picks up. More than a lot of the hits from this time, this song and If I Fell were the ones that convinced me there was more than fun pop stuff in the Beatles.

my Beatles favorites tend to be mostly Lennon's songs, and mostly later era

Bad to Me (Unreleased)

There are way too many to put into 10. So, without repeating the other ones, the one song that some people don't know and should deffintiley look at is "It's All Too Much".

It was on the revised Yellow SUbmarine soundtrack. Written by George and if you ask me, it is his best song.

One of my favorites was actually done by Peter and Gordon, but Paul wrote it and you can just imagine how good it would have been by the Fab Four
