Activision has released the first few song titles for GHIII to the world. Let's hope Harmonix officially releases info on a few of RockBands songs soon. It's gonna be hard for them to beat the list of GHIII song, but they can do.

C'mon guys, don't keep us waiting too long...

I'm waiting too.
At moment, i don't like 80's and GH3 tracklist; imho, they're too commercial, anonimous and Metal so far.
I want to believe in the Harmonix Staff Metal's Faith. :D :D :D

I was thinking the exact same thing.

I was not thinking that at all. Cult of Personality? Pretty Cool. Paint It Black? Hell yes. Heat of the Moment? That proves there is a just God.

Though, I will admit I just like playing the game. I care less about the music then most people do.

I think the track list for GHIII is pretty solid so far. And considering how many more are original recordings, it is that much better.

Yeah, you can't beat playing along with the original band.

I really want to see Metallica Fade to Black in one of these games.

Heres a List of Bands I really hope appears in the game.
Tool
Soil
The Absence
Metallica
Lamb of God
My Chemical Romance
Muse
AFI
Atreyu
Trivium
Children of Bodom (No Keyboard =( )
Darkest Hour
Dope
Stratovarius
Throwdown
Unearth
Van Halen

I don't think that all of these should be in there I would just like to see some of them.. and maybe put a few other bands in of the same genre as "My Chemical Romance" to widen the variety of people who like the songs on there.

Tool I'm especially hopefull to see. They have an amazing Bassist and rather simplistic Vocals, it just seems the songs would really come together well.

Poison, Twisted Sister, Dio!!! How could you not like it!!! It's 80s for crying out loud!!!!:D

It's supposed to be like that, everybody knows the 80s were great for being awful!! And at the end of the day, we have GH for the old school (which I love too) and GH2 for the rest of us ;)

Harmonix has little, if nothing, to do with GH3 and GH:80's....it's Activision's ball at this point.

And as for the tracks being "anonymous", if you were listening to music in the 80's you'd know most if not all of these bands were "hair" metal or straight up metal bands...that was what was going on then.

Harmonix made the 80s edition. I hate the 80s soundtrack, but I love GH3's soundtrack. Hopefully we will get some info on Rock Band's sountrack and how many songs there will be.

Snippet from Gamasutra.com (http://gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=14159):

[UPDATE: In a conference call to investors, Activision officials were resoundingly happy with the acquisition and performance of its Guitar Hero franchise, saying the publisher was "just getting started" with its long-term development, and noting consumers' "insatiable appetite for songs," both by full games -- as with its forthcoming 80s edition, or through downloadables.

Asked how the company felt about impending competition by the end of the year, referring to Harmonix and MTV Games' Rock Band, company officials took a curious stance in saying that it "wasn't surprising that [the franchise] has attracted imitators" -- seeming to imply that Harmonix was somehow now simply imitating the game it had itself helped build.*

Activision said it had a number of "significant competitive advantages" over its competitors though, pointing to the game's strong brand recognition and momentum, and its strong retailer commitment. It also pledged geographic-specific new song content for Europe and other regions.
*emphasis mine

Imitators?

HMX,
These guys are b-slapping you.
Retaliate or we raid the QA department and steal their action figures.

I wouldn't mess with QA. They've been up for, like, 24 hours and when you cut them they bleed energy drinks.

Oh fine then. They can keep them.

Can we threaten with recycled periodicals for your bathroom stalls?
I have Readers Digest, Country Living, Rachael Ray and Fitness and I'm not afraid to use them.

I keep the Victoria Secret though.

more from Activision at Gamasutra.com (http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=14171):

Finally, on the company's upcoming battle between its own Guitar Hero 3 and Harmonix/MTV's Rock Band, Pachter says, "notwithstanding Activision management’s statements to the contrary, we think that a guitar-only version of Rock Band with music by the original artists and created by the original Guitar Hero team would compete quite favorably with Activision’s game. We think that Guitar Hero will be a significant driver of revenues in FY:08 (we have conservatively modeled $400 million this year), but think that new entrants will impact future growth of the brand."

Backpeddling?
So now they're saying ...
"GH will compete with 'Rockband with just one guitar'"
Spin, spin, spin.

Now's your chance HMX ;)
Knock it out of the ballpark.
