PS3 Account Linking: *UPDATE*

Hey all,

We have recently identified an issue with the PlayStation 3 leaderboard and account linking. If you have created a Rock Band account and attempted to link your PlayStation 3 game data within the last 30 days, it is possible that this issue is preventing you from linking your PSN to our online leaderboard.

Again, if you are having trouble linking your PlayStation 3 account to the online leaderboards, or your existing leaderboard data isn't updating, we are working on a fix for this issue. I will update this thread with more information when it becomes available.

note: this will not result in a loss of your stats and other leaderboard data.

This issue should mostly be cleared up now. If you're still waiting for your characters/bands to update, it could take a little while. If you've been waiting over a week for it to update, please post here.

EDIT BY HMXVENG - It looks like it's taking a bit more time to register. Please keep trying as it seems to fluctuate as to how long it'll take for the code to be accepted.

Also, just as an FYI, it's taking some time for the database to catch up with your band info and scores so please be patient. We are working on this issue as well. Thanks!

ADDITIONAL EDIT BY HMXVENG - For entering in the code, if it looks lowercase, then it is a number. Otherwise, it is a letter. The numbers hang down lower than the letters do as well.

I just linked my game a few days ago and everything seems to have updated since then except for a few things. Is this issue having our name show up in the leaderboards or using the "Link to game" in our profile? My PSN ID shows up in the leaderboards (I just found it online), but I still can't use "Link to game" (I just reset Safari to clear everything out and tried it). I get:

* One or both of the required fields contains incorrect information.
* You must enter a valid PlayStation® Network ID and Website Code to link your to PlayStation® 3.

It also occurred to me last night that I hadn't done any online play (I've been doing solo tour and playing with my family locally), so I went online and played a tug of war against someone.

Maybe someday I'll be able to link.... :p

Characters/bands you've deleted will still show up for now. We may add something later that will hide those groups, but for now they will still be visible.

Bad font! I mistook an eight '8' for a 'B'. It didn't help that it appeared that all the numbers were lower than the letters. The two numbers on either side of the '8' were lower than it, whereas the 8 was even with the letters.

Not a big deal, I guess I am just being anal about this:

There are a few songs that isn't updating my highest scores. I guess I got them when my internet connection of out so when I finally reconnected again the network only updated my overall career score but not the songs individually. Is there anyway these score can be updated or I have to do it manually through load/save or whatever.

Nope. My PS3 account isn't linkin either. Getting the same error about name or code isn't right. My code is pretty easily read. The only possible mix up would be either the letter V or U. I've tried both and still not working. :(

I just want to add my name to the pile. Our code isn't working either. Same error as others report RE: one of two (psn id, or webcode) is incorrect. An update now ~30 days later would be nice.

And... not to start another controller debate, but what is the latest on adding a second guitar controller? I've got another third-party controller (not the GHIII LP) that works fine with GH3, but doesn't perform correctly with RB.

My son and I would sure like to coop bass/guitar. Neither of us have the chops for percussion.

Just bought my first console since my NES in the late 80's, I buy Rock Band, hook it all up to the Internet and the bloody thing doesn't work. I've tried making a different PSN account, different local account to get a different website code... Nothing.

So I'm posting here as a means of venting so I don't bash the guitar into my console :) Also hoping that strength in numbers will convince EA to fix the bloody problem.

As of looking at this. There seems to be a problem with the linking system. Until Rock Band Developer's or Web Master can't seem to work anything out. I think we are going to stay unlinked. I have a feeling their is something wrong with the PHP Script. Although, I'm not entirely sure how the system work's.

Yup, I keep getting that same message as well! I know for a fact I put in the code correctly. The font is difficult to read, but the letters and numbers that they gave me seem to be pretty straight forward. Hope they get this issue fixed soon!:confused:

i.e. does it only effect people using none US machines or something, I presume the code is generated by a combination of your PSN ID and PS3 hardware.

I tried different PSN ID's with different locations as the home address got different codes each time but none of them work :(

I'm definitely putting the right PSN in - so it HAS to be the code.

The only letters that aren't obvious are either a U or a V --- it looks more like a V but no matter what combination I try it fails every time.


Are any letters lower case or capitals or should they all be capital/lowercase?

What I mistook for a "i" was actually a "1" the "g" was a "3" and I can't remember what else.. but there was another lower case letter that ended up being a number instead.

Double check those, I bet that is all it is.

Yeah, same here. Every permeation of the code that's possible from the way the letters/numbers look, and nothing. Does capitalization even matter? Everything's right and well, but the game and account just won't link.

Any information at all? Is there some problem you all are looking at specifically?

What about the codes themselves, are they hardwired into our games, or can they be to something else?

I don't think it has to do with the disk When I upgraded from my PS2 to my PS3 I bought a used copy of the game, since I had the instruments already. When I first tried to link it it wouldn't work so I thought it had to be that some one linked the code already, so i returned it bought a new copy and I deleted all the game information off my system saved games and all, then reinstalled and I ended up with the same code so I think they are hardware based.

Sounds like it's possible it can be reset, then. I know when I get a user calling that needs to get their password reset, I like to make it something nice and easy and unmistakable as to what it is. Would be nice if these website codes operated the same way.

Or that you could manually ask for a new code if you're having trouble uploading it...

and also the changed name of, and deletion of some of my characters

Well, now I'm trying to follow this new advice, and just to be sure after clearing cookies and trying a new browser, I went into my game to double-check my game's code, and now the Get Website Code button is greyed out and I can't retrieve the code anymore! I'm signed in to the PSN network, and can play online. Anyone know why this is happening now? Also, I tried the code I remember (I must have entered it 50 times, so I'm pretty sure I know what it is even if I can't see it), and still no luck linking the account. Still getting the "incorrect information" error.

Well, numbers except for 8 seem to be small than the letters. Hopefully that helps a bit when deciphering your code.

Please read some of the previous posts - people have seen success after varying periods of time (a few days to a week or more).

Again, it's not the best response but it's the most accurate measurement to go by at the moment.

I'm having problems linking also. I thought maybe I was reading the code wrong too. One thing I did though was look at the way the code was written really good. I then went in to go through the steps of naming a new character to get that font. I named the character what I thought the code was and the font/name of the character looked exactly like the code. Then I just backed out and abandoned the character. So this is something you can at least do to check your code. So I guess it's another problem. I guess I'll just keep trying to link periodically.

I had that problem myself. After a few days of trying to link my account… out of the blue it worked. Now, my only complaint would be… the characters in my profile are not current with what characters I’m using. It’s only showing two, one of which was deleted when I first got the game and the other I use often but the points are only showing “350” give or take… which is not correct. I understand it takes awhile for everything to update but why didn’t it take all the characters and band I have saved when I linked in the first place?? Not knocking the idea of linking to this site but what’s the point if it’s not correct and or current….on top of being a pain in the butt to do so……………

6/07/2008 - i FIGURED IT OOUT!!!!!!!!!!!! The career leaderboards is the same as the code if you have a digital camera take a pic of the code on the tv, upload it to the comp and keep it up while at the same time bringing up the ps3 leaderboards and "link to game". Use the letters and numbers on the leaderboard to match the letters and numbers for your code. i just realized and did this and i finally linked my ps3 net account to the rockband website SUCCESSFULLY. So if your having trouble linking ps3 id's to the rockband website account try what i just mentioned.

same here well almost i upgraded my ps3 to bigger hdd one sent this message to support in dec still no awnser:

Recently i upgraded my ps3 system from the 40 to the 80G system and now my original band is stuck on rockband.com.
heres how the events transpired.
I got the 40 gig and created a band(The Lost Cause)/signed up on rockband.com.
I decided to upgrade to the 80G and tried to copy my rock band save to a memory stick but it didn't wanna copy oh well i'll just start over i thought have only been playing 3 days.
So I deleted all my data including the rock band save from the 40G ps3(obviously that was a mistake should have entered the game deleted the band then deleted the save)
I returned the 40G ps3.
I bought the 80G ps3 and set up rock band again entered all the same info for the band(The Lost Cause) but was alerted that a band by that name already exists(uh oh)
decided to look into it later and started another temp band(sally's frog's breath) perhaps i thought when rockband.com was updated it would see that the old band no longer exists (worth a shot right).
logged on to rockband.com and checked my profile http://www.rockband.com/rockers/ylbissop
unfortunately my darkest fears where realized and as i suspected it still lists one of my bands as the lost cause so my question is how do i get rid of it?
can i or you delete the band or even the whole profile so i can once again play in The Lost Cause and have the progress listed online?

I want you to be able to show off your stats as well. And it totally sucks that I have to give the same answer all the time.
