ive been stuck on detroit rock city on expert drums for far too long.
you win, kiss. i give up.
with every other song ive tried, practice has made perfect. with kiss, its made no difference whatsoever.
whats sad is i know i can beat most other songs after it. ive played them in multiplayer and online and i know i can beat almost every song that comes after it... but i will never be able to do it in the solo tour.
thanks alot kiss.

How did you pass the damn Fall Out Boy song?
I know what your talking about. I was stuck on that kiss song for a while. now i can't beat the boston song the intro is nearly impossible.

dead on arrival actually gave me minimal problems. i beat it in... i think 9 tries.
i can do off-bass notes pretty well (like note, bass, note,) so it didnt give me alot of trouble. it was definately a tricky hard song, but it wasnt too terrible.
the key was to learn the red/green/bass part. that comes up more then anything else in the song. once you have that down you can recover from the random stuff the song throws at you pretty well.
but yeah... kiss.. i usually fail around 30%. my highest was 67% which i havent even come close to yet.

How did you pass the damn Fall Out Boy song?
Ha Ha. I have beaten DRC and all the other songs in that tier on expert, but that damn Fall Out Boy song is still my nemesis!!!

im considering trying to play just the bass and red notes. see if it would work. theres not a ton of yellow notes, and the pattern throws off everything i do. its cheap, but it may work. or my mind may get jacked up and ill do even worse that way.

Giving up is usually the best route.

my suggestion is to take a break from it for a day and just play songs that are moderately challenging and master them. I stopped playing it for 2 days and just played songs that i 3 starred or 4 starred until i got 5 or gold on them, then i went to fallout boy and beat it in 2 tries. Its like something just clicks when you work on perfecting songs and you become more accurate and quick. or maybe it was just a huge coincidence?

I've been stuck on RTTH on expert for a couple weeks now.
Just can't do it yet!
Same here. It took me like a week to beat most songs on expert from having never touched drums, but the run to the hills is just annoying and its the only song I cant beat on expert yet, including all bonus songs and all DLC songs released. But I also keep getting lazy and have barely practiced it.. I just try it like 5-8 times on a day I choose to try and tackle it again, get frustrated , and stop.
A bit of practice every now and then in practice mode has made me get a bit further in it, but still I just cannot beat it. I fear when I get to the triple beat part of it...that will throw me off even more

Yeah, just play other songs for a while, then go back to it. In my guitar career, I tried to beat both Blackened and Ride the Lightning (just the solos for the most part) when I first got them, and couldn't. I went back to them last night for the first time since then...I beat Blackened first try and RtL 2nd or 3rd. (I'm talking Expert guitar ftr). So yeah...give it time away, it'll come when you least expect it. :D

This WINS this topic. I am totally doing that.
KISS has some hardcore drums for that song. Good luck.

I had the same problem for a while. but practice did help me. I just put it at 70% the normal speed and kept doing it until I got at least an 85% on the song then raised the speed. now I can play it and 5* it, it's also one of my favorite songs to play now on drums. But now it's (Don't Fear) The Reaper I can't beat. and practice hasn't helped. One day I'll have to spend the whole day practicing and trying to beat it so I can finally finish my expert drum career.

yeah i dont think i will ever complete expert drum tour even if i do beat DRC, because of dont fear the reaper. beating it on hard was insane, and on expert? i dont even want to try it.

Yea it took forever for me to beat it on hard. Expert is just insane. I can get 67% into it. that would be the guitar solo and then I fail. I can't hit the foot pedal notes or anything that's not a red pad. I got past a couple times but then I lose at the outro. One of these days though I will beat it. On hard I couldn't beat Run to the Hills. But I know I can beat that on Expert since I beat it today. So once I beat DFTR I know I can finish Expert Career.

Heh, I used to think that, especially when I was stuck on WGFA & RttH as my last 2 songs. Don't give up. Eventually you will get it.
Detroit Rock City has that shuffle sort of thing going on. The thing is, timing in rock band is so loose that you can straighten out the beat and it still registers as a correct hit.
s=snare (red)
b=bass (orange)
h=hihat (yellow)
Instead of
y---y---y---y
r--r----r--r--
----o--o----o
it becomes
y---y---y---y
r-r-----r-r---
----o-o-----o
Of course, the beat is more complex than that, but you get the idea.
Also, I cannot stress enough that having headphones on WILL get you past Foreplay. I flat couldn't beat it without them, even with the music going through my stereo speakers. Once I put on my headphones (through the same stereo mind you), I passed the intro easily. That is because hitting those bass notes every time is probably the most important thing to getting through. Unless you have good low end response coming out of your speakers, it is difficult to hear. Give it a try, headphones has helped me get through numerous difficult spots.

Have someone play base pedal while you just do drums.
Is it cheating yeah, but will it open up the other levels and allow you to close out some other tunes while you practice..yeah.
Maybe advancing along other songs will help you when you come back.
I like to sing and a few songs I just cannot get the notes (way to high), so I bring in my wife she gets past them, then I can continue completing song I know I can finish in higher difficulty brackets.
When I get past everything else I will come back and pratice those.
