The whole little intro with all the dinging noises, is that a guitar or a keyboard? I just wondered because the intro is long, what is the band supposed to do? Sit there until their part starts?

they could probably just shorten it to like 10 seconds max to let every one know wut song it is and actually start the song

Yeah, just like in Frankenstein in GH1. They shortened that drum solo by a lot.

nothing will be changed/edited as long as HMX is using the master track, I think you'll just have to wait through it. Which is okay, that song is well worth the wait.

IGN: Rock Band Post-E3 Interview (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/810/810634p1.html)

IGN: One thing we noticed was that some songs feature long keyboard solos where everyone in the band is just standing around. Will you offer truncated versions of songs a la Guitar Hero to avoid this?

LoPiccolo: Rock Band is really about the songs. We put a huge amount of work into securing licenses and original masters for our favorite songs of every genre and era. In general, we are very reluctant to butcher these classic songs, and would prefer to present them as they were originally written and performed. We have also discovered that the quiet, down parts make the up parts all the more intense.

You will see the song in FULL.

Harmonix are using the original master tracks, and thus every second will be kept intact.

I, for one, am glad because I want to hear these songs in full, not what someone else has decided is "appropriate" for the game.

On top of this, while Harmonix has not said anything as of yet concerning the keyboard parts, I am willing to bet that you won't see any of it mapped to the guitar to preserve authenticity. Again, this is great, I don't want to play a part that was originally on a synth track, it ruins the experience

I just hope they don't turn these synthesized parts into guitar parts.

If it's an original master, it's an ORIGINAL (SONG) MASTER!

read ^this^ post again, they wont change anything. you wont be playing the keyboard part on the guitar. You will only playing guitar. The same goes for bass, drums, and vocals.

They should include and give the keyboard/synth player his own spotlight in the 'live' performance. Or, in Pete Townshend-style, have the guitarist play those parts. In the live performance I mean, NOT mapping the parts to guitar. Although they overlap so that may not work.

Have you ever watched a live performance of Baba O'Riley?

Pete Townshend never played anything other than the same guitar track that was on the record. The synth always has been, since the number was first performed live in early 1971, a backing tape. That has never changed and is one of the reasons The Who really disliked playing it. Having to play with the backing tape did not allow them to stretch out and jam like they did on a lot of other tunes.

You won't see anything for guitar mapped out until the guitar enters later in the song.

I know he never played the parts live. It was just a suggestion for the game, to maybe make waiting around a little more interesting.

On the subject though, I'd love to see Eminence Front in the game.

Good call with Eminence Front.

However, on the Baba front, they shouldn't map anything that isn't guitar to the guitar (and probably won't) because that would completely destroy the authenticity and feeling of the game.

I mean, NOT mapping the parts to guitar.

Oh, I know that; as the above self-quote shows. I meant more as something to watch onscreen that's slightly more interesting.

And Harmonix have stated that they absolutely will not map parts to a different instrument than intended.

Oh, okay.

Sorry about the misconception on my part. I thought you were advocating for adding synth parts to guitar. My bad.

Still, good call on Eminence Front, that would be rather wicked!
