Thats cool if not. Well, I'm 28 and a PhD student that hasn't had time for music in years (haven't been in a band in 5 years), but I am very adept at songwriting, and can play guitar and bass at relatively high level, and am decent at playing drums. After playing rock band my desire to create some new tunes was at a peak. So I recorded a couple tunes (just for fun) that I thought I would share. I play guitars, bass and drums (though the drums are like 2 measure samples looped b/c I can't play through a whole song without screwin up) and vox. I hope you get a kick out of these, and feel free to bash the songs, my feelings won't get hurt. I've learned that far more people will dislike songs than like them. FYI, the songs that I found most inspiring in rockband 1) that came with the game (Dani California, Welcome Home, Won't Get Fooled Again, Black Hole Sun) 2) DLC (Move Along, Hard to Handle, Limelight, interstate Love song). I hope these don't offend anybody, they aren't my typical songwriting lyrics, I was having fun. I also suppose noone will listen anyway, so it doesn't really matter, but enjoy if you do, hope it brings a bit of laughter to your day. BAM.

I especially like the Kung fu song, but the Gotta hit that song kinda rocks. Someone on the song page commented that Kung Fu sounds like Sublime mixed with porno, which is a perfect description. Thanks for the crazy post and tunes.

guess nobody else was inspired in such a way. Has anybody started playing and instrument, or revisit like me, b/c of RB?

There are some more tunes on macjams, glad you enjoyed. Not all are silly, but BJ's Hood is my whiteboy take on rap, and Pizza N' Beer is a ridiculous party type song about, well, pizza and beer (and sex). Thanks again, here are a couple others, recorded a while ago, and not so rock band inspired:

The only thing that came to mind when I listened to the Kung Fu track was Parappa the Rappa.
Just sounds like a song that would be like level 7, in the uncensored version of the game.
Crack, crack, crack... the egg into the bowl.
Pretty cool stuff though, what's your PhD?

funny you should say that i also felt the same. i have electric drums, bass, and a guitar, and picked up a 4 track recorder with a mic stand and mic recently. I recorded (since playing rock band) a hardcore version of "blitzkreig bop" with a breakdown in it, I'm working on "imagine" by john lennon (have guitar and drums, working on the bass beat and just havent sung the lyrics yet, i do that last), and just yesterday I made a rap beat with my bass, a weird drum kit i made on my set, and my guitar with my flanger pedal. i want to get my friend to make up a rap for it because i don't really like writing rap, i just kinda like the beats and stuff.

flawless,
I love the Parappa reference, good call I can totally feel that. Thats not my usual style, more like http://www.macjams.com/song/5742. My PhD is in Social Psychology, thanks for asking.

Wow, thanks, that means a lot coming from someone that isn't a friend, and might be obligated to tell me they thought it was cool. I'm glad you liked tomorrow's children, one of my proudest musical moments (best vocals for me, solid bass groove, my favorite drum track as well). Thanks soo much, you made my day man.

I really like the funny tunes, but Tomorrow's Children and Dollar and Inch really are pretty sweet. Is there any way that I can get a copy of these songs?
