View Full Version : Rock Band Difficulty Level

I've noticed in some of the Rock Band videos on the the internet that the guitar part doesn't look very difficult. I know they could have it on a lower difficulty setting, but even when HmX was playing in the E3 videos, the guitar part looks kind of easy. I know this game is about teaming up with friends to get the whole 'band' experience, but I'm hoping the final product will be more challenging than it's looking at the moment.
What do you guys think?

Are you talking about the Peter Moore stage demo? They played "Main Offender" by The Hives. That song doesn't seem to challenging to begin with. And Peter Moore, i'm assuming, isn't the "best" player out there. So he probably had it on easy anyway . But this is just what I think. If anyone knows anything else let us know. :D

I agree, it all depends on which song you choose, and what your difficulty is set at. I am sure that HMX will make the game as difficult as they can, just as long as the game is still fun at the end of the day.

Well if you watch the GameSpot E3 Stage Demo, all of the Harmonix members had it on hard/expert. Know i assume there all really good, or it could just be the song. But i still reckon it was just them being really good, after developing GH 1+2.
Also, like everyone else said, it does depend on the song. Base on "Message In A Bottle" in GH2, thats easy :P. Im sure Rock Band will be difficult enough to satifsy your needs :)

The harmonix members were playing everything but guitar. I think. Peter Moore was on easy.

Yeah but on the stage demo Moore wasn't there. It's a 40 minute vid on youtube. They were all either on hard or expert. And I hope your right joetaylor.

most of the videos I've seen have all shown hard or easier...I know on the Stage demo the guitar or bass is on expert, but I don't think I've ever seen a song with drums on expert.

So far, the songs we've seen sound pretty easy for guitar, other than Wanted DOA, which was being played on Easy.
WGFA, Reptilia, DFTR, Sandman, Tom Sawyer, and Wanted DOA all sound hard. Main Offender, In Bloom, LTF, and Rockaway Beach are the only songs that sound really easy on guitar.

The only definite song I saw played on Expert on lead guitar during the 40 minute stage demo was Paranoid and that seemed right for what notes are in the song. The dude playing wasn't even hitting all the notes (but that might just be because he was trying to concentrate on looking cool more than playing the game well). As other people have said, the guitar parts can only be as difficult as the song is.

maybe they are first level songs. like "i love rock n roll" on GH 1.
you have nothing to worry about. harmonix always makes their games have a high difficulty. i'm sure they will with this one too since they have GH1, gh2 experience.
you also have to look at yourself. many people said gh2 was too easy on expert. well, the general population isn't going to sit for hours on end nonstop to beat expert. if expert was too easy, go get a real guitar or something and challenge yourself that way.
