I'm not the biggest fan of Halo, but I do enjoy playing it with my friends. Also this is the third Halo, it can't compete with something so awesome and so new, Rock Band is going to be the best game this year in my opinion, so much so that if it comes down to it, it may be the only game I buy this fall.

That's pretty far apart when dealing with game releases.

I do think that Halo is more popular than the Guitar Hero/Music Game Genre. I am getting both games, and I think what will turn most people away from Rock Band will be pricing.

But I can't really honestly answer your question. Because the games aren't even alike.

Guitar Hero is easier to compare to Rock Band because they are in the same genre.

Out of those two, the pricing will probably depend on popularity.

I think that halo will be more popular because people know what to expect from it as it's the 3rd in the series. I think Rock Band will be a hell load better personally, but some people may not bother getting it as they don't know what to expect and it will be expensive... They don't know what they're missing

Honestly, a better question would have been "Will Rock Band be more popular or better than Guitar Hero III?" In my opinion, RB, regardless of tracks, will be far superior. More to play, more to practice, more to master. I think GHII will be a good game, but Rock Band has a much bigger vision.

I think that having the two games competing is a good thing...it makes both developers work much harder to please the RB/GH crowd, resulting in a better effort and a better overall game. Before, with only one game, they could create total crap or just the same game with new songs (Rock the 80's anyone) and still sell a load of copies making it a success....as it stands, there is competition and we reap the benefits.

to an extent, sure but Halo 2 has sold over twice as many as guitar hero II at it was only available on 1 console. but both will be hurt by only having next gen consoles.

I am telling anyone that will listen to buy RB so I can have more people to play with.

RB is, though supported by the fanbase, and has strong industry support (e.g. E3 awards) its not got the fanpower of Guitar Hero 3, as Rock Band is a new name, and Guitar Hero is more "household".

To say Rock Band will sell more than GH3 is out of the question, but to suggest Rock Band will beat Halo 3 in sales is stupid. It will be the fastest selling, its already the quickest and most pre ordered game of all time.

And, it will sell 360s at Xmas, so Wii may not have such an easy victory...

I disagree. In an interview with Bungie, Edge Magazine UK (I think that's where I read it), they said points DLC, like extra maps, is gonna come.

I think Rockband has the potental to be more popular then Halo 3. Think about it everyone has friends(how I got hooked on guitar hero), everybody goes to Best Buy or a similar store. So through word of mouth and seeing this awesome game hooked up to a big screen in a store this game could be huge on a scale we have never seen before. I know when a saw guitar hero for the first time I thought big deal a rip off of DDR with some gimmick controller, but think if you saw four guys rocking out at the local best buy, I think most people would be immediatly drawn in. Also how many Halo tittles willl it take before the hype wears out. It is only a first person shooter.(and yes I have played it.)
