View Full Version : RUSH - cover song only?

How upsetting.

I am curious as to the reason. Did the band want too much royalty?

That would be a real shame, because as they near the twilight of their career, it would be excellent to recruit a new legion of fans through such an awesome medium.

3 of the finest rock musicians of all time....practically made for this game.

I hope they also make other songs besides Tom Sawyer (which is not even close to their best work) for the game at some point.

I feel like starting a campaign to get Rush to loosen up a bit.

Dunno. Was YYZ in GH2 a cover? I'm pretty sure it was.

And what about all the other bands who didn't give up the master track?

i'd hardly say they're in a twilight of their career. while snakes&arrows hasn't sold as well as their older stuff (mainly cuz of the insanely moronic people of the world) they are at the top of their game creatively and well popularity wise. i saw them in concert recently and i have never seen a place so packed and a crowd that excited before in my entire life.

as for them in RB it would be downright shameful if they got **** albums like nevermind as DLC and not moving pictures, permanent waves, or even their proggier albums like 2112, hemispheres, or fly by night

My assumption is they no longer had (or never had) the multi-track master recordings. Regardless, it is disappointing.

The real question is, will it stop you from butchering the lyrics anyway? You know you're still going to play it so no use crying over spilled milk.

also i dont' see how rush are being tight with their music. on that recent ****ty football game by 2ksports they allowed tom sawyer to be remixed, yyz in gh2, tom sawyer again in this game. hell if i remember correctly tom sawyer has been in quite a bit of commercials, movies, and tv shows.

Well, Tom Sawyer was an alright choice (I would have preferred Spirit of Radio or Working Man), and I'm sure, even if it is a cover, it'll be fine. Harmonix covers have proved to be pretty good in the past.

I love Rush. I want others to love them, too.

The most amazing, unexpected thing about the Guitar Hero franchise...well, I can point to my 10-year old nephew as an example.

I walked into my sister's house the other day, and heard familiar music from my nephew's room. I snuck into his room only to find him GH-jamming to War Pigs.

10 years old. War Pigs. He loves it. He loves Deep Purple, he loves ZZ Top.

I'd much rather he hear the "real" songs, instead of the covers. I know I'd rather drum to Neil Peart.

War Pigs was a cover, as were Hush, Smoke on the Water and Sharp Dressed Man.

The reason why some bands don't provide masters are because how it was recorded (instruments needed to be recorded seperatly I believe..) or maybe they just don't have the master recording.

All these master recordings are blessings, but I did love it when a cover came out just right, and unless you listen to the song a lot, you hardly even notice the differences between them.

PS: I know where you're coming from man, I too love Rush, and can't bear the thought of someone trying to cover Geddy Lee's vocals. I don't think you will have to worry much about the drums though, I would hope they would be the easiest to recreate (could be wrong though...)
