They at least sounded like "rock", and her new album is "pop-rock" sell out junk. She wrote songs on her first two albums, but since her Paris/Britney/Lindsey transformation, did not write any of the new stuff.

That being said, if they need to add her newer stuff, I wouldn't oppose it. As long as they got the original song(s) she ripped off.

She claims she never heard the original, but there is no doubt it is a rip-off. :)

I'm not too sure. I mean, I've never even heard of The Rubinoos. Plenty of songs sound similar and get accused of plagarism - Dani California and Mary Jane's Last Dance sound very similar, with similar lyrics, yet Dani California isn't a rip-off (on that topic, RB needs some Tom Petty stuff - Runnin' Down A Dream would be epic).

I'd welcome Avril Lavigne stuff on Rock Band. It has to cater to all kinds of musical taste, not just those that are only into one type of rock. It's quite pathetic the ammount of times on this forum I've seen people say things like 'I'll never play RB again if <insert band/song> is released>'. If you don't like that song, don't download it. Simple as.

Sk8r Boi, My Happy Ending and I Can Do Better would be great additions IMO.

It's quite pathetic the ammount of times on this forum I've seen people say things like 'I'll never play RB again if <insert band/song> is released>'. If you don't like that song, don't download it. Simple as.



I'm not complaining about her in general. I own her first two albums, and in my opinion, they are "rock". But her newer stuff lost her her "edge".

She started as a "punk-rock chick", but has been changed (by the industry) into something else.

I mean "Girlfriend" does not stand up to anything off of her first two albums. "My Happy Ending", "Freak Out", "Sk8er Boi", etc. all kick that songs a**.

I just hope that if she gets represented, they put out the best songs before the worst songs. :)

She definately has great music... and this is my opinion. Even her latest has some great guitar riffs. Those of you that have actually listened to the entire CD know what I mean. Those of you that are so dead set against having some of Avril's song in Rock Band probably would choose some songs that I possibly don't like.

C'mon, they are releasing the Cars debut album soon and if that isn't pop/punk, then you can't use that as an argument here. Rock Bank is trying to cater to all tastes and if Avril is selling millions of CD's/songs, then people are going to download it. It's a business model that works under success. If Harmonix only catered to one taste, the game would go the way of the dodo eventually. I like Judas Priest, I like Loverboy, I like Green Day, I like The Cult, I also like Avril Lavigne, Mariah Carey, the Beach Boys, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, J. Geils Band, hell, I even enjoy some Glenn Miller. This list could go on and on as there are many artists that I enjoy, no matter the genre as I go with what appeals to my music taste and sounds good to me.

Don't be so narrow minded... just because you don't like a song, doesn't mean that 10,000 others do.
