OK I'm glad they have announced that Rock Band would be on the PS2 since there was no way I could afford to buy a PS3 to play this game.

But the information supplied was vague at best, so lets have some clarification for us lowly PS2 users.

1. Will the guitars from the GH series of games work with rock band on the PS2 (I have 2 of them already and don't really want to have to buy more)

2. What game features are getting stripped out since the announcement implies that something is being removed

3. Localized content for Europe, although in a way I see this a a good idea I also see the downside. I myself live in The Netherlands but I would not want a game localized for The Netherlands for the simple reason that I do not speak dutch as I immigrated here so I'm not really interested in dutch music.

4. Will there still be online play for the PS2 version

5. Will there be various packages available for sale as far as what controllers you can get with the game and will the others be able to be purchased separately

6. Since it is a 4 player game will a multitap be required or are they making the drum kit and microphone USB and the guitars in the gamepad ports.

I'm sure there are other PS2 users that have questions of their own to add to these and I sincerely hope that someone official reads this and can clear some of this up

I doubt we'll get a reply, but I just want to know if everyone across the globe will have access to the same tracks via DLC. Since it sounds like Europe is getting it's own extra stuff, I'd hate to miss out just coz I'm in a mostly English speaking country.

Can't tell ya a thing. I'm very surprised to read that it's being released on the PS2. I believe it was a necessary move, morel like a trump card against GH3.

Hopefully this isn't going to leave PSN and LIVE completely barren for people to hook up with :P

Considering its Ps2 would it get Dowloadable Content ? Will the guitars be the same as in with the Effect buttons and such ?

As far as it's being reported by some Euro sites we in Europe are not getting our own EXTRA stuff it's INSTEAD of the tracks list that has been reported for both disc and DLC with one or two announced for the U.S which is crap.. who ever came up with this idea needs to re-think it because i know of a lot of people now dumping the game in favour of GH III purly because of this news, GH III's track list is the same for both U.S and Europe so why HMX/MTV/EA F*** with Europe's for rock band.. i'm very close in joining the others and forgetting about Rock band unless HMX post a more clear response in what they mean by localisation because it isn't sounding good at the moment.. we want the track list that's been announced.

This is a rumor, nothing has been announced like this.

Let's not jump to knee-jerk conclusions here. Wait and see what HMX has up it's sleave.

PS2 and Disc Content is only announced for Europe at this time, "in order for Europeans to truly get the full Rock Band experience and interact with the music they love."

This holds true for the European specific content as well. Most likely it will be stuff that we have hardly heard of I would think, or else we (as in us in the U.S.) will get them eventually as well.

I can't think of any technical reason for DLC not to be available on the PS2. All new slim PS2s have a network port and USB. Simply adding a cheap 1 or 2GB USB stick to store the downloaded songs could work very well.

However very few games have made use of the PS2 usb sockets other than for the guncon or voice chat headset. It's possible Sony doesn't allow them to be used for data storage (so as not to affect sales of the 8Mb memory cards).

Personally I don't plan to upgrade to an Xbox360 or PS3 for quite some time yet so I really hope the PS2 version gets online play and DLC content.

Sorry to break it to ya, but Guitar Hero is localizing it's songs too.

heh I guess those euro sites failed at the internets after Sean's clarification. The concept alone that it'd be instead of hardly makes sense in the first place, so I employ you to beat them with a stupid stick.
