Hi everyone
I just read the news:
1: 10 new songs announced, good stuff included! :)
2: Ps2 version, I don't really care...my 360 version is already preordered :I
3: Rock Band in EU in 2008, NOOOO, but I sort of expected that announcement, because it has happened with the guitar hero games as well. :(
4: Localized songlists! What the *beep*?!?! := They are doing the same thing with Singstar, and I have to search to find a decent british version of the game, to avoid singing crappy danish songs! Oh lord no...We have a couple of danish rock acts who could be fun to play, but why not make them available for download, so you don't have to play them, if you'd rather rock out to already announced (american version) tracks? I was literally floored by this announcement, and I'm very, very unhappy about it! Shame on you, Harmonix (or could it be MTV's fault, they are always very interested in making local stations...bastards)

From http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/814/814458p1.html

Rock Band was the next big game EA was showing off. Alex Rigopoulos from Harmonix took the stage to show off what they've been up to for the first time in front of a European audience. Alex mentioned that the game will release this fall in North America and that it would be released in Q1 2008 in Europe. He also said there would be a PS2 version of the game, but it wasn't clear if that was just in Europe or not. Alex made a point to stress that the game would be localized for each region that it was released in, with specific songs for each territory both on the disc and through online downloads. He also announced ten new tracks from the original artists what would appear in the game, including Gimme Shelter by the Rolling Stones, Should I Stay or Should I Go from The Clash, Deep Purple's Highway Star, Cherub Rock from Smashing Pumpkins, and Faith No More's Epic. After the announcements, several rockers -- including Alex -- took the stage and played Are you Gonna be my Girl by Jet.

This to me means that its going to be bonus songs and downloadable content thats going to be regionalised NOT the main songlist, that would be insane, note "He also announced ten new tracks from the original artists what would appear in the game"

that to me means the game in all regions

so dont worry too much, and yeah its annoying about not getting RB till early next year in europe!!

Calm down. There has not been any clarification on the localization issue yet, and thus we don't know the full extent of it yet. Wait for a full clarification prior to complaining

Hi again
I was kinda exagerating my despair, but I noticed in the article that Alex has said regionalized both in downloadable content (which is fine by me) AND on the game disc (which bugs the hell out of me)

OMG, I'm not danish but I really want MEW!! Give me MEW!!! Bring Mew to the Austrian setlist!!

Anyway, I'm also dissapointed! The new songs are good, but not great.
Europe is left behind again.
I don't want Rammstein. Wir sind Helden, Aerzte or Beatsteaks would be nice, but DON'T REPLACE GOOD SONGS WITH GERMAN ONES!!!
German (aka country specific) songs are okay for DLC, but don't change the list on the disc!!

DON'T DO THAT HARMONIX!!!!!!!!

My guess is that the 40 main songs will be universal and the on-disc country specifics will be indie/small/local bands. I'd rather have a NYC-based indie band, whereas the brits would probably rather have a Liverpool-based indie band (although I expect we will get DLC packs of the other region's songs, eventually). I expect the region specific DLC will be the regionally popular bands.

Don't freak out just yet.

Pretty sure you hit the nail on the head right there. I don't think there is anything to worry about at all. If anything we should all be happy about this.

They're not going to replace "Don't Fear the Reaper" with the Benny Hill Theme in Europe. Calm down, Harmonix knows what they're doing.
