UPDATE 23th December 2010: OK Computer Named Best Album of the Past 25 Years by readers of Q Magazine, yay! (http://www.greenplastic.com/2010/12/22/ok-computer-named-best-album-of-the-past-25-years/#more-3849)
If you support the idea of having OK Computer as full album in the game, change your Avatar to the OKC Album Cover and show HMX how much you want it! Here is the link to the picture: http://1.music.bigpond-images.com/images/AlbumCoverArt/264/XXL/Ok-Computer2.jpg

- I was asked to post some of the awards this album has gotten, so I will quote a post by TakeABow -
I won't post the full list of Radiohead's awards - There is a character limit to these posts, so here are the ones that pertain to OK Computer:
In 2001, OK Computer was ranked the #1 Album in the last 15 years by Q magazine.
A Reader's Poll for Q also placed OK Computer as #1 on the list for best Album of all time in 1998, 2006, and #2 in 2003
As of 2007, it has been certified triple platinum in the UK and double platinum in the US.
1998, it was nominated for a Grammy Award as Album of the Year, and won for Best Alternative Music Album.
Here (http://www.acclaimedmusic.net/061024/A991.htm) is a list of rankings of OK Computer from a wide variety or sources, many of which rank the record quite highly.
It was on the shortlist for the 1997 Mercury Music Prize.
In 2001, Q Magazine placed it at number 1 in a list of the Top 100 albums of all time.
In 2003, NME named it the 16th greatest album of all time.
In 2003, Pitchfork Media placed it at number 1 in a list of Top 100 Albums of the 1990s.
In 2003, the album was ranked number 162 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
In 2005, it was selected by Spin Magazine as the number one album of the past 20 years.
In 2006, it was chosen by TIME Magazine as one of the 100 best albums of all time.
People would not be upset about Radiohead as DLC, and there is no doubt whatsoever that OK Computer would be recieved well. It is by no means Elevator Music - It is Alternative Rock, very high quality, well liked, and would be an excellent addition to Rock Band.
Okay, we all know that Creep is in the game. That's a nice song, and better than no Radiohead.
But just take a look in all that Radiohead Threads, almost everyone suggested one of the best songs ever written, Paranoid Android.
That's why I want your votes to get Radiohead's album OK Computer because this album does not only include Paranoid Android, but awesome songs like Karma Police, No Surprises, Electioneering, Airbag, Let Down, Lucky, Climbing Up The Walls or The Tourist!! Actually everything is just awesome on this album, and this album is a milestone in Rock History, it's one of the best albums ever written.
It would feel so great to play the whole album from beginning to end.
Help me to persuade HARMONIX that this album is NEEDED in the game!
And please don't vote "no" if you don't know Radiohead or their songs, just don't vote in this case. (or vote for yes :p )

Hey, Bloc Party needs to be in this game as much as Radiohead. I'm just disappointed about the Creep announcement, that's why I started this thread.

This is seriously the worst Rock BAnd news Ive ever seen
For an otherwise great sundtrack, Harmonix just dropped a mssive ****ing ball for me.
Im extremely pissed. They could have picked ANY OTHER SONG of ANY OTHER ALBUM and I would have been happy.
Creep is one of the worst songs Radiohead has ever made, and honestly its sad, but Im going to have to pretend Creep is not even in the game so I dont get pissed about it.
I called up my friend and told him Radiohead was in the game. HE let out a huge "YESSS" then he saw Creep, which was followed by 30 seconds of silence, then a "****"
sushi111
08-22-2007, 02:51 AM
That being said... The Bends and OK Computer for DLC!

08-22-2007, 03:24 AM
I almost wish they didnt announce Creep with those songs. The rest of the songs Im super pumped for, some of them Ive been waiting years to play.
Its just when they pick your least favoirte song from your least favorite album from your favoirte band, you get kinda pissed.
sushi111
08-22-2007, 03:26 AM
Oh and this is going to be the most boring song ever on the drums. Its one beat the whole song.
Its things like this that seriously make me think Harmonix didnt even listen to the songs before picking them.
Like I couldnt think of more boring song on the drums.
This is like a slap in the face for Radiohead fans.
Like at least Metallica fans get DLC. To be honest us Radiohead fans know we probably wont get squat.

Yeah, Sushi is sad.
Actually, I like Creep. I think it's one of the best songs on the Rockband playlist.
But I'm just kinda dissapointed, because there is a song like Paranoid Android, probably one of the best songs ever written, and then I see HMX puts a Radiohead song in it and it's NOT Paranoid Android?? I was shocked...
And... I still miss The Cure, Bloc Party and Placebo. :(

sushi, relax bud. look, having Radiohead on there was priority #1. at the very least, this means they can get the rights to MORE Radiohead songs in the future. just look at it that way man. forget about creep. RB has Radiohead.
oh, and i'm definitely with you on singing YOUR SO ****ING SPECIAL! i dont care if i lose vocal multiplier or whatever, its worth it (i would think as long as u say **** in the right pitch, prolly won't even matter).

Sorry Sean, I got it through my system:)
Now Im good. I knew this was going to happen anyways, and I knew I was going to be a ***** about it.
Ive never said anything bad about the Rock Band setlist before this, so maybe Im just making a big deal because I was so happy about everything the setlist besides Creep.
*Teakes deep breath*
Ok Im good.

I wouldn't worry about getting Pablo Honey as DLC out of all Radiohead albums there are. Everybody knows PH is the worst, but I have to admit that Creep is the best song from that first album. (For the record, I think The Bends would be great.)
I'm happy Radiohead are in (as are some other good bands) and that this means there might be more from them in the future! :-)
I just wish it wouldn't have been that one self-loathing song you'll have to sing with your friends present.

I remember seeing Radiohead when they supported James years ago. Creep blew me away and I still remember the hairs on the back of my neck standing up. Scores a 10 on the nostalgia scale for me. Might not be the most challenging song to play, but it'll still be great. I'm looking forward to doing the vocals on this one.
If I had to choose an album to DL, I'd go for the bends. If I had to choose only one song, it'd be Paranoid Android.

I guess I have to listen to Bends.
I still like the whole Ok Computer album a lot. No Surprises is such a beautiful song too!
But, actually, yeah I can live without the whole album, as long as Paranoid Android will be available. That's a MUST. No Surprises and Karma Police would be nice too though. And maybe Let Down.

That would not make sense. And yeah, Paranoid Android was the outro of the Anime ERGO PROXY (awesome Anime btw), and Radiohead actually took a look at the Anime before they allowed the song to be used.
Anyway, if they like the game and allow them to use Creep, they probably will allow them to use Paranoid Android too.
Of course, could be that they don't want too many songs to be used, so maybe we won't get the whole album.
At least, it has to be Paranoid Android.

I didn't like the song at all myself. I thought it was long, dragged out, and was pointless. The song and music video made no sense.. All I saw in the Music video really was breasts and fat people.. Not my tasts in music I guess.
I think this song should come out on DLC, so those who like the song can play it. Otherwise I REALLY hope it is a bonus song in the game.

After seeing the OXM announcement of Radiohead's "Iron Lung" for DLC, I thought I had to dig this thread out again.
I mean, Iron lung is a good song, but I was already shocked that Paranoid Android isn't on the disc, now there we have the first Radiohead DLC and it's still not Paranoid Android. :(
I mean, I really hope we'll get Ok Computer one day, HMX must know by now that we want that album and especially Paranoid Android the most. (Although I love almost all the songs on this album as much as PA)
So, I hope they just didn't release/announce Paranoid Android yet because they will release the whole Ok Computer album.
The real sad thing is, that after the announcement of nearly 60 downloadable songs the wait for Ok Computer will be looooooooooong. Really looooooooong. If they even release it at all. Who knows.

Theres only one thing we can do for this to happen: Buy My Iron Lung.
Supply and Demand people!
But Im so happy we actually get a Radiohead song as DLC as it is. Man what a great song. I agree I was a bit dissapointed with the choice, but My Iron Lung is one of those songs you just want to play in RB. PA is one of those songs you should be happy exists, so maybe it being in RB would kinda slow down my enjoyment of it if Im trying to perfect Solo B 900 times.
Then again this could just be the only non-Ok Computer song before they roll out before the whole album, so you never know. :)

Because Rock Band is going to be releasing full albums, I completely agree OK Computer should be given heavy thought as one of them. The album is essentially The Dark Side of the Moon of our time. A sonic assault on your senses and imagination, It's atmospheric and psychedelic, and a masterpiece of modern rock. Lyrical content is also similar to Dark Side of the Moon, as like it all the tracks are about everyday feelings and problems we all must learn to deal with. To anyone on the forums who has not listened to OK Computer yet, It's a must have album. I'd put it second on my top albums of all time. (and if you read this far it's not hard to figure out what my number one is, I can only dream that would be released as DLC)
Harmonix, please give us OK Computer!
(and The Dark Side of the Moon)

It's great that "Creep" is on there and even more great that "My Iron Lung" is, too. But Thom Yorke even said once that "Creep" is a song of theirs that he feels almost no connection to. He said he heard it playing once and only about halfway through, he realized it was theirs. It's just sort of a radio-friendly song that isn't really on a par with any of their other stuff.
That having been said, they should definitely use a Radiohead album that is the epitome of the Radiohead we all know and love. 'Pablo Honey' is not my favorite; I only feel inclined to like it because it's Radiohead. 'OK Computer' is my personal favorite, so I'd love to see that added. 'The Bends' would be awesome as well.

Interesting they would put both of these songs on here. Check out what www.greenplastic.com has to say about "My Iron Lung."
"Written the day Radiohead was forced to pull out of the Reading Festival in 1993 due to problems Thom was having with his vocal chords, this song comes off very bitter. But as it progresses, "My Iron Lung" seems to drive out Thom's angers about how the band's music was largely ignored - aside from "Creep." Thom has admitted in interviews that he is very proud of this song's lyrics; he felt he had perfectly captured the essence of what he was writing about."

I've finally listened through all Radiohead albums and I have to say I can't really tell what's my favourite now.
Yeah, OK Computer is a masterpiece and Paranoid Android is a masterpiece, and I think the album fits the best for Rockband. It doesn't have as much acoustic songs as The Bends and it uses a little bit electronic (which I really like) and a lot of Elec guitars, so I think it's perfect. It's also the most critically acclaimed album of the band, so it's the obvious choice.
I also love Kid A a lot (after listening a few times) but I think we all agree that it would not work in Rockband.
Hail To The Thief is so awesome, 2+2=5 and There There need to be Single Download Songs, but I still say as a whole album, Ok Computer would be the best choice.
But I'm happy with every Radiohead song anyway. :D

Coldplayer, glad to see u've fully immersed u'reself into Radiohead's back catalog. you may remember this list i made months ago, but its since been buried in a massive pile of threads, so i'll post it again here:
The Ultimate Radiohead Rock Band Setlist (in order of their albums):
Pablo Honey entire album *minus Thinking About You (this album is good early 90s rock, very underrated)
The Bends entire album (literally every song would be awesome for every instrument)
My Iron Lung EP The Trickster, Lewis (Mistreated), Punchdrunk Lovesick Singalong, Permanent Daylight (I doubt they would ever dig into the EPs, but what the heck, its a wishlist)
OK Computer entire album *minus Fitter Happier (truly an epic album)
Airbag/How Am I Driving EP Pearly, Reminder, Polyethylene, Palo Alto
Kid A Optimistic, Idioteque (if they could pull off the note chart for the guitar/noises, this would be such an incredible song to play)
- Considerations - How to Disappear Completely, Morning Bell
Amnesiac I Might Be Wrong, Knives Out
- Considerations - Packt Like Sardines in a Crushd Tin Box, Dollars & Cents (again, if they can somehow map the note chart for the noises to the guitar and bass parts in these songs, they would be pretty fun)
Hail to the Thief entire album *minus We Suck Young Blood (no guitar & too scary for the children) and I Will (no drums or bass) **The Gloaming & Myxomatosis are also songs where the guitar part would be noises; drum part for The Gloaming is electronic beats.
i made this list b4 In Rainbows was released, and there really is no point in listing those songs since it was not released on a major label. i would think it'd be almost impossible for HMX to get the songs directly from Radiohead.

why would you have an album knowing you'd have to omit songs from it? both exist music and fitter happier are really not suited for rock band. really, we should just settle for asking for the bends.

@FatWilma:
I have to admit, I haven't listened to the EPs, just to the albums.
But still, I think I know Radiohead very well now.
Now to your list:
Paplo Honey isn't really bad, but it's an unspectacular Britpop/rock album, nothing special, and with Creep, I think we have the best song of it, and I would be very dissapointed to see Paplo Honey beeing released as full album and not Ok Computer or The Bends.
But if so, it would be too bad to leave out Thinking About You, I think it's one of the nicest songs on the album, - but yeah, there are no drums.
So, I would gladly take Pablo Honey, but only if I get one of the other albums first.
Yeah, the Bends would be awesome, but I still miss the experimental Radiohead with electronic influences.
Ok Computer is the best mix of both the old and the new Radiohead. It's the best of both worlds, if you can say it like that.
And I think that overall, the songs on Ok Computer work the best. Believe it or not, even Exit Music works. Yeah it's not the best choice since there is just guitar for most of the song, but at least at the end you have all instruments. And it's part of the album, so if you release the album you have to release this song too.
With Fitter Happier it's different. I'm not really considering this a song, more just a Lyrical Interlude / Poem. If you take a look at the back of the CD Cover, Fitter Happier is even written in smaller letters than the names of the other "songs".
I don't think Radiohead is playing this at concerts too, so I'm absolutly okay with not releasing Fitter Happier when you release Ok Computer.
Yeah, and last but not least, I agree with all your other choices. :)
I would even say that I like Hail to the Thief more than Ok Computer at the moment, but unfortunately HTTT has songs that would not work with the game.

So his Iron Lung is "Creep." Hooray for symbolism!
I had read this too! When I saw "My Iron Lung" being released AFTER "Creep," I just thought about how crazy it was that those 2 songs were on there, AND in the order they were released.

i made that list back when we were under the impression that album dlc would be a semi-regular thing. now that we've seen them sticking to the 3 song packs, that changes things. since we already have a song from pablo honey and the bends, i think a good radiohead pack spanning most of their career would be Airbag, Paranoid Android, and There There. i would be insanely happy if just 1 of those 3 songs made it in some way or another. really, i would be happy if we had ANY more radiohead to look forward to...

HMX still plans on releasing full lenght albums, they reacently said in an interview that it's just a matter of technical issues. So, as soon as they know how it's technicly possibly they will start releasing albums.
And since they already released one single Radiohead song from the Bends, it seems likely that they plan to release Ok Computer one day.
(Because if they would not be thinking about that, I'm sure they would have released Paranoid Android as a single song DLC and not My Irong Lung)
But if we really can only get a 3 song pack, although I would love all the songs you listed, I would want the most:
2+2=5
Paranoid Android
Planet Telex
I guess... although "Just" is also needed, just like "Airbag"... damn, too hard, They just have to release every Radiohead song available. :D

Radiohead has to be one of my favorite bands ever. Creep was a dissapointment to see on the set list. I didn't buy the game until My Iron Lung was DLC.
OK Computer is a work of art, the album belongs in the game, Especially Paranoid Android and Let Down.
I hope we get Fitter Happier if they put in the whole album.

Ok you guys may know me as quite the Radiohead fan.
Im really still pushing for some more Radiohead DLC, especially an album download, but if not Id be happy with a three pack with any of the greats. Im talking everything from Airbag to Bodysnatchers, to I Might Be Wrong to Wolf at the Door to The Bends to Paranoid Android to Optimistic.
Pretty much anything from OK COmputer on would be fantastic.

But as long as we get Radiohead I would also take a 3 Pack. It just has to include Paranoid Android. Any maybe 2+2=5!
@TakeABow: Although I really like the songs you mentioned, I don't think Pyramid Song and Idioteque would work well in the game. And the Bends is actually one of the Radiohead songs I like the least. It's still a cool song, but they have so many better ones IMO.

The bends is listed as having one of the 20 best guitar solos of all time by the British music gurus at Q. (Can't argue with Johnny Greenwood pulling the string right off the fretboard). I do agree that Pyramid Song and Idioteque probably aren't the best choice give the way Rock Band Works. Of course, any Radiohead is good Radiohead. Maybe we can get something from In Rainbows?

In Rainbows is a cool album, but has a lot of experimental songs.
The real problem is, that EMI doesn't have the rights on the new album and we can probably only get songs from this album if HMX asks Thom Yorke himself.
Oh, and regarding The Bends. I didn't say that it would not work for Rockband, it would work great, I just don't like the song that much.

Since EMI/Capitol has already agreed to let in My Iron Lung and Creep, chances are we will see more Radiohead from their first six records.

I just finished chronologically listening to all the Radiohead stuff I could find, including the 7 albums, I Might be Wrong, and 10cd's worth of b-sides and live recordings called "Towering Above the Rest". It is amazing to hear how they evolved as time went on, and mainly how they continued to innovate. Listening to Amnesiac right after Kid A led me to lend some credence to the claim that Amnesiac = Kid B, but there is quite a bit more guitar in Amnesiac than in Kid A.
My favorite part of all this was a cover they did of Wonderwall (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2PpTuh9RvE).
Yorke forgets some of the words, then they stop halfway though the song. Classic.
Listening to it all in order like I did though, there was no grouping of tracks as good as the ones on OK Computer, with the possible exception of In Rainbows, which suffers in this comparison from not having Paranoid Android.

Karma Police is a great song, don't get me wrong. I'm just looking at their songs from a challenge standpoint on RockBand. There's really not much to it. That's why I suggested a Radiohead 3-pack in another thread a few days ago:
Paranoid Android
There There
Bodysnatchers
I think any of those would be a challenge on guitar, drums, vocals and bass. But hey, any Radiohead songs are a good addition. I've been a huge fan of theirs from the early days and can't wait to see them live (my second time) in May.

if i was asked to pick a Radiohead 3 song pack, I'd go with:
Paranoid Android
There There
Airbag / 2+2=5 / Planet Telex (consider this the wildcard spot, if we got PA and TT, i wouldnt care what they threw in with it!)
edit: on the subject of The Bends vs. Ok Computer, i'm siding with OKC. both are incredibly brilliant albums, and i would even agree that The Bends is prolly better suited for RB, but OKC is simply 1 of the greatest albums of all time imo and most of the songs would be awesome for RB.

OMG how could I forget Planet Telex!???
So, then my 3 pack is definitely this:
Paranoid Android
2+2=5
Planet Telex
(Hah, every song is from a different album :D )
I really like the Bends, but Ok Computer is more experimental, which I really love about Radiohead.
I'll tell you my fav Radiohead album order at the moment (!!):
Hail To The Thief > Kid A > Ok Computer > The Bends > In Rainbows > Pablo Honey > Amnesiac (But only because I only managed to listen to this album once so far, maybe like it better when I listen to it more often)

I think the band seems to feel the way you do... well, at least from the standpoint of playing the songs live. Ironically enough, when I saw them perform out in Denver at Red Rocks in 2003, they played over a two-hour, 25-song set.... and had nothing from Pablo Honey or Amnesiac -- and one song from The Bends (My Iron Lung). I found the absence of Amnesiac odd, considering that it was their second-to-last album at the time, but then again a lot of those songs are hard to duplicate the sound of live. It kind of goes for the same of the Kid A album, but Idioteque, The National Anthem and EIIRP sounded great live. They also played Kid A as well, but IMO they weren't able to pull off a good version of it.
HTTT was just out of course, so they were pumping those songs a plenty -- 12 of the 14 tracks, in fact. The only other album to get a lot of play was OK Computer (six songs), so I guess you could say the band agrees with your thinking. When I see them live again out in St. Louis in May, I expect to get a heavy dosage of In Rainbows, which is fine. I think it's a great album, but I can listen to OKC start-to-finish any day of the week! :D

I know where you are coming from about the recording label situation. I mentioned that in another Radiohead thread in these forums. I'm just saying that that would be my preference for a three-pack. If I had to replace "Bodysnatchers" because of that scenario, then my three-pack would be:

radiohead and i are on the same level. thom and i exchange thoughts telepathically...
but seriously speaking, if u swapped #3 In Rainbows with #1 OK Computer in my order of albums, that order is going to be exactly in-line with the number of songs they play from each album at each show this year. i saw the Maryland show from the 2003 tour u were speaking of miles as well as the 2006 bonnaroo show. both were heavy doses of HttT with bits of other albums, but at the bonnaroo show they played 5 or 6 songs from In Rainbows (a year and a half before they were released).
so i'm sure for this year's tour they'll play almost everything from In Rainbows (i really hope they play a few songs from the bonus disc too, especially Down is the New Up and Bangers & Mash). also get ready for another chunk o songs from HttT. i know this post has nothing to do with OKC for dlc, but as they say...bump

Vocalist belts out those lyrics, drummer and bassist does some stuff, and the guitarist does nothing the whole song. and with the song they should add a horn attachment

I understand how we all have different tastes in which are our faves of radiohead but the bends would work well with RB, however, both planet telex and 2+2 are both great songs but i dont think they'd work well with the game in all categories, especially drums. 2+2 doesnt really even have real drums till half way thru the song. planet telex (a great song) lacks to me, something new throughout the song.
Coldplayer

I think as long as the song gives an awesome band experience and has every instrument in it, then it works in RB. Yeah, 2+2=5 real drums don't start until half of the song, but I would definitely still love to play it.
And Planet Telex is probably my favourite song on The Bends, so. :D

I thought Paranoid Android would make a great addition. But, I think a more realistic idea is to get them to put the whole In Rainbows album on Rock Band. For one, there wouldn't be any huge record company battles for the rights because the band has nearly gone indie now. Second, they've already given the album away for free to anyone who asked for it, so why can't Rock Band be the next recipient. Lastly, who doesn't want to play Weird Fishes or Jigsaw? The downside would be that they would have to omit Video Tape (or they could include it as mainly a vocal track). But, I think Radiohead would be down for something like this. You could even pick how much you want to pay for the dlc (j/k).

@headfullofacid: That's right, maybe Thom allows to have In Rainbows stuff in Rockband, but I would not say it is more likely, since we already have songs from their earlier albums in the game - which means EMI has no problem with giving us Radiohead songs. Besides, although I like In Rainbows, I would still prefer other albums, especially Ok Computer.

Thanks I got it from a Hunter S Thompson quote. I thought of something funny. They could put Kid A or Amnesiac in the game if they released some kind of twisty knob peripheral. Perhaps they could even use Phase to hook up to rock band and you could use the slider to create the synth/sample sounds. HA!

wait, so let me just get this straight, your 3 biggest requests for RB are Radiohead, Bon Jovi, and AC/DC? that definitely covers 3 very opposite points on the spectrum of rock, thats for sure!
-to headfullofacid: i wouldnt get u're hopes up for any In Rainbows dlc. in response to what u said about them being "indie" now, it would actually be easier for HMX to get songs from the other albums becuase they ARE with 1 of the major labels they already work closely with on licensing. if HMX wanted something from In Rainbows, they would essentially have to ask the band to liscense it to them directly. i can't even imagine a situation where that would be a possibility...
edit: -to gocryemokid: the reason this thread is listed as "Official" is becuase it was created back in August '07, way b4 the game was even out. literally almost every thread in the ultimate setlist back then was "Official This" or "Official That." so yeah, you get the idea...

I actually called the thread "Official.." to compete against all those "official" threads that suddenly appeared on this forum at that time. It kinda pissed me off actually, but I thought, if there should be an official thread, then at least about a band that really has chances to get in the game and a band with an album that deserves it.
I was even more arrant while creating the Cure thread. There was a big "Offical, You Must Include Tool Poll" Thread out there (where is it now?...), and I thought I create one, calling it "Official, You Must Include The Cure Poll". Some people really fell for it, believing the Tool thread was updated. :p

Speaking about "official", when I first started browsing the forums back in December before officially joining up in January, I never really saw this thread.... but you'd see a "We want more Radiohead for DLC" or something to that effect pop up, then move on down the list because no one was keeping it alive. Having a ton of threads on one band is really f'n annoying. Because there are so many bands out there, the last thing we need is 5 or 10 threads asking for the same band -- just combine it into one.

No, I don't think I have started one, but there are some lost in this forum. I would like to have an active Bloc Party thread, but I would even more like an active Placebo thread and I just don't have the time to look for more threads at the moment, so I stick with Cure and Radiohead so far. Maybe later, I will open a Bloc Party and/or Placebo thread.

@Gaspar: Exit Music would work. Every instrument is there. It's just that the drums don't have a lot to do at the beginning. But I don't see the problem, the drummer can still listen to an awesome song and watch his bandmates play at the beginning.
And yeah, Fitter Happier would not work, but that's okay, since I would'nt even call it a real song, more a poem. It's even written in smaller letters than the other songs on the back cover of the CD.

Heh, as if Ok Computer is already coming. :D
But no, they would never do this. They even let the guitar player in the NIN pack play the piano parts because they fear he would be bored. So I'm pretty sure, if OK Computer will be released one day, there will be no Fitter Happier.
TakeABow
03-01-2008, 04:22 PM
They could easily make the guitar and bassist play random notes for the background noise in Fitter Happier, however little it makes sense. Even a couple of drum hits, while the vocalists gets lots of points for "talking" parts. It could be done, I just don't want to see "Karma Police / Fitter Happier" on the track list.
I like to be optimistic about OK Computer.
Coldplayer
03-01-2008, 05:32 PM
Well, it would be very weird and odd if they let us play Fitter Happier. But if they still would find any way that we can play this "song" (and they won't) I'm sure they would not put it behind or in front of another song, so that we MUST play it. That would be stupid, so don't fear.
And yes, it would be strange if they don't give us Ok Computer if they have the possibility to get Radiohead songs. But let's wait and see. Even if, I guess it will still take some time. We will probably get Who's Next and Nevermind before.

I agree that Rock Band needs more Radiohead. I am a complete music freak - I listen to every style from every decade and I love most of it, and Radiohead is not only my favorite band, but I also think that it's quite possibly the greatest rock band, ever. Better even than The Beatles (heresy, you gasp). And OK Computer is probably my favorite album, ever. That being said, I'm not so certain that it'd make for a good album download for Rock Band. Not all of the instruments are given lots to do in all of the songs, which I think is vital. Nothing makes me more angry than when an instrument has almost nothing to do for a whole song in Rock Band. (Bass in The Perfect Drug, for example.) Sure, the team at Harmonix could just map other sounds from the tracks onto the ones we play; they've done it before and they'll do it again. However, for me personally, I always think that that sort of takes away from the fun; if I'm playing guitar, I wanna play guitar, and that's that. Maybe I'd have to listen to OK Computer a few times in a row and think about it some more, (Paranoid Android needs to be on Rock Band no matter what) but I think that if any of Radiohead's albums gets a release on Rock Band, The Bends would be the one to go with, just from a gameplay point of view.

The relationship with EMI is also with Radiohead (Three parties on the contract: MTV Games, Record Company, Artist). Since Radiohead already has a contract with MTV games (along with EMI), establishing a contract with just them shouldn't be too difficult. Chances are that these are negotiated on a per song basis, and more negotiations would have to take place for any more songs, not just In Rainbows material. Unless, of course, MTV games has already has the rights for the first six records, in which case, give us six full-album downloads.

anything from OKC would make me a happy camper though.
but the bends just doesn't do it for me. its so far from where Radiohead is now, its the album where they were forced by EMI to make radio happy songs to make them big. Its good, no doubt, but it just doesn't touch on the point radiohead trys to make with their music.

Initially I thought the Bends would be suited best for this game, but now I couldn't possibly decide on just one album! I've listened to most of them recently and they all have great songs. I'd prefer a Best Of over a single album. But I guess you can never make everyone happy, no matter what you do. We can be glad if anything comes out at all.
Also, I had tons of fun playing Paranoid Android and Electioneering in an unnamed other game. :-) The first would be a great experience for everyone, I think.

haha honestly, i dont think they did either. i just wanted to ruffle the speculation feathers. btw, on a very newsworthy day in the world of RB, u and i have managed to dominate the ultimate setlist with our ramblings on Mew, Bloc Party, and Radiohead. kick ass bands ftw!

Haha, I just wanted to say the same thing to you!! If we do that everyday we will get those bands in no time! :D And we will get awards for outstanding achievement in forum posts.... either that or a lifetime ban
:p
EDIT: Something offtopic:
Just wanted to change my sig - wanted to remove the big pic, because it hurts my eyes a little bit now, and what does this forum tell me? My sig can't be longer than 200 characters! I just removed something from my sig and now it's too long? o_O

shoot, keep u're sig as it is then. except get some Bloc Party and Mew in there, c'mon now...
that was really all i wanted to say, but i feel obligated to say something about Radiohead to validate this post. so uhhhh....Radiohead....best band ever?!?!?
the more i listen to In Rainbows and the bonus disk (which if u don't have get immediately), is the more i want to say they are my favorite over Pink Floyd. they are so unbelieveably talented and their music just radiates with quality.

Yeah, I haven't listen to Bloc Party and Mew a lot in the last months. Listened to both a lot today. :D
Unfortunately my sig updates automatically with the albums I've listen the most in the last 3 months. So it could take some time until Mew or Bloc Party shows up there. Still, why can't I change my sig? What have HMX done with this forum again?
Anyway, back to Radiohead. Definitely best band ever. I actually really don't haev the bonus CD! I was in the records store and when I saw In Rainbows I immediately bought it without watching out if there would be a Bonus CD or not. So now I have it without Bonus disc. :(
But may get that disc sooner or later too!
EDIT: BTW, the third album in my sig is "This Atom Heart Of Ours" by a band from Austria (!!) called NAKED LUNCH. You have to listen to them, they make beautiful music!! Especially "Country Girl" and "Town Full of Dogs" are my favourite songs by them.

No I didn't. I'm actually pretty new Radiohead fanboy. I've listened to all the albums for the first time in the last few months. But still, I think you can see in my posts how much the band and music means to me by now.

The Kid A/Amnesiac 3 Pack
Optimistic
In Limbo

all 3 of these songs work for RB and would be absolutely incredible to play!

Pardon my English.
I am a huge fan of Radiohead. And I agree OK computer ESPECIALLY Paranoid Android would be awesome to play in Rock Band, I even made a request for this song using the request song link below. Imagine playing the song with a bunch of friends, getting to the "Rain down...Rain down..." part after everyone jumping around banging their heads like crazy from that awesome guitar solo. This gets me excited just to think about it.
Another nice song to have would be a song from the latest album "In Rainbows" called "Jigsaw Falling into Place". That song features nice guitar backing. Although it's just backing guitar, but the pattern and rhythm changes very often to build the whole mood for the song. And the vocal, of course it's excellent and you would expect nothing less from Thom. Truly one of the master piece from Radiohead.

QFT. Paranoid Android and Jigsaw would both be incredible songs to play. i wish we knew what kinda chances we had for gettin these songs in the game. especially for the In Rainbows songs, i wonder what licensing obstacles would come up for getting an album/songs from a band with no major record label...
side note: with the 6 pack being the hot new thing for dlc, can u even imagine getting SIX RADIOHEAD SONGS?!?!? my god, i think i would have to take the entire week off work. i would be hysterical for days!

With OK computer getting ranked as highly as it has by music critics (including being #1 best album of all time in Q magazine), It would make sense to included it just on merit of being one of the best, if not THE best album in the last 15 years.
According to wikipedia:

The way everything seems to work with Rock Band, there isn't really a good reason NOT to have OK Computer. Radiohead already has a working arrangement with Harmonix. OK Computer has proved itself to be (dare I say) THE best album in the last 15 years. And Rock Band promised to release full Albums.

Actually, I'd have to say no. As much as I love listening to Ok Computer (and I do, it's an amazing album), I just don't think it feels right for Rock Band; it's more of a listening experience than a playing experience.
Some songs would work well for Rock Band, but the full album, I dunno. I'd rather see a pack of Radiohead songs instead.

Kid A songs live = unbelievably amazing! when i first started gettin into Radiohead, i never understood why people loved Kid A so much, then I saw them live...end of story.
i also don't understand why an admitted Radiohead fan would say No to ANYthing Radiohead releated, especially from the greatest album of our generation. i would understand if the dude wants other songs from diff albums, but if OK Computer was offered for RB, he would say "No thanks, I don't wana play Radiohead, I just want to listen." yeah, i can't even comprehend that.

Isn't the point of Rock Band to lift music from the level of listening to it to the level of playing it? OK Computer might not seem all that fun to play, but surely just sitting and listening is less fun than playing even what you might call boring/strange note charts in Rock Band.
Speaking of seeing them live, I will finally get to see them at Lollapalooza this summer. I just got my 3-day pass.

Do you know why we will *probably* not have any Radiohead/pay more for it?
My buddy is one of those guys who books concerts, you know?
Guess who the number one most expensive band to book is?
You guessed it, radiohead!
So yeah, the chances of HMX getting a good enough deal on them may be slim, and if they do, Radiohead may be the first 2.99/song we see. Whatev though, i wouldn't get them anywase.
TakeABow
03-26-2008, 02:20 PM
Radiohead gave away thier last album for whatever price you wanted to pay(even free), so I don't think they will be picky about the price of DLC. They are expensive to book because they hate traveling and there is ridiculous demand for them. There is such demand for them because they are an amazing band, all the better reason to include more of thier songs.
And we already had one track in the game, and a single DLC song, which was at $1.99. No reason for that to change.

if they want to charge me an extra dollar for Radiohead songs, i don't have a problem with that. whatever gets it in the game faster. just consider it a luxury tax. but i'll literally throw money at anything that has Radiohead on it, so i'm prolly not speaking for most people in regards to that.
the reason they are so expensive to book is becuase they always sell out the tix within a few hours of being on sale and they only play a select # of shows each time they tour. TakeABow, prepare to have u're mind blown when u see them. They love playing those huge multi-day festivals, and i can guarantee u they will put on an unbelieveable show (try to get as close to the stage as u can for optimal face melting). i'm seeing them for the 3rd time May 11th in VA. i absolutely cannot wait!

I've always found it odd that, even with only two Radiohead songs in the game, OK Computer hasn't been touched upon yet. Something tells me they're working on it. I mean, when considering Radiohead and trying to get quality music for the full band experience, you don't just skim over what's commonly referred to as the best album of the 90s.
