View Full Version : Are new drum pedals still breaking?

Well, it finally happened. I've been playing on the RB drums since the launch day (most of it on expert difficulty) and it finally snapped. I'm actually surprised that it lasted as long as it did considering all of the abuse I've given it.
Anyway, I need to decide if I'm going to send in my pedal or just get a mod for the pedal so it doesn't happen again. So, are the new pedals (if they are even different) still breaking? If so, can I mod a broken pedal, or do I need a new fixed one to mod it?

I don't like bumping threads, but I'd really like to know what to do before I just ship off the pedal.

The pedal they send you back will be basically identical, it will break just like your first one. You can mod a broken pedal by screwing on a metal plate to the broken pieces... but you might as well get a new one for free from the RMA site.

I broke mine a couple weeks ago, received my new one, and that now has a crack in it after maybe a week of use. Given that my first one lasted about three months, it adds to my thinking that the pedal is just not designed well to stand up to the higher difficulty levels. It did fine while I was learning on Easy/Medium, but once I got to a steady diet of double and triple base hits, it was toast. I just ordered the Mega Pedal, which is essentially a full metal replacement for the plastic pedal. To me, that's the only way to ensure the pedal doesn't break anymore. I considered the metal brace plate things that screw into the plastic pedal, but my first pedal broke right near the base, which that type of brace wouldn't have prevented.

I have to disagree with that guy. I just got one back about 3 weeks ago and it has none of the flex point issues that the previous pedal had and it is not identical to my original pedal. the orange brace is longer and maybe thicker, which prevents the pedal from flexing under weight about 2/3rds of the way down, which is exactly where my previous pedal broke. I could always feel that one flexing under my foot (I play shoeless) and this one has no flex to it at all.
