I'd love to see all sorts of bands in RB. But it will never happen! All these songs and bands people request don't even get considered. Harmonix already knows exactly what they're going to release prolly for the rest of 2008. Grateful Dead, Nirvana, The Who song packs and then a collection of random songs by the same friggin bands that are already in the game! All this request crap is just so we feel like a community and feel like our opinions matter. How many people do you think requested Juke Box Hero or Truth Hits Everybody? Don't get me wrong they're fun to play but I'm sure other songs have got requested a million times more. Do you think out of all the Smashing Pumpkins requests that Siva was on the top of the list? C'mon! I love RB and I'll keep buying the new DLC cuz its almost always good but these requests are just a waste of time. Prove me wrong and put up a thread that actually keeps track of all the requests and when the top ones get in the game I'll believe this stuff.

I think you are absolutely right about the assertion that HMX has already selected the songs for DLC for the whole year and probably beyond that even and many of those have already been encoded.
I don't think that they care at all what people are requesting because the deals are already done and you are only going to get what they give you and that is it.
Like you, I could be wrong about that but it can't be proven wrong unless they actually start putting up DLC that people are requesting.

All the songs released so far (as DLC) were mostly in the works before the game was released. Give it some time. Hopefully, this summer is when we start to see varied groups. As artists see this game's popularity rise, they will more and more be willing to let their music be used.

The op is right, but suggesting songs using the request a song feature might make a difference many months from now.
The "ultimate setlist" forum is mainly for us, but it also may give them some feedback about the bands to "go after" in the distant future.
Don't see how it hurts anything.
