I agree that it will be shown off at E3, probably with a handfull of songs, but I dont think we will see any gameplay before hand. I do think that some songs will be announced before E3 for sure.

I hope they unveil at least some mock-ups of the instruments and a couple songs.

E3 is going to be awesome. GH3 and Rock Band? How can any of us lose? Both harmonix and Neversoft will be trying to outdo eachother, so it will be exciting

silly question, but did you guys just forget that they totally killed E3, or did you just never find out?

E3 has been reverted back to what it should of been all along, purely a trade show. no theatrics, no booths (or booth babes), no cameras, no ginormous tvs.

however, there is a thing that is trying to be like E3 called E for All, but this problematic in that.
1: it is open to the public (yes that is a bad thing in my mind)
2: there has been very little support by the game companies themselves so far
3: instead of being more news based, its commercially based and many booths will be trying to sell you something as opposed to show you something.

But there still is an E3 in July. So what if it doesn't have the theatrics? It's still going to be used as the #1 outlet to reveal game information.

ehhhhh i'd have my doubts. there wont be any huge press releases or any of that. a trade show is basically different game companies showing each other what they are working on. yes they could easily make a news announcement to coincide WITH E3, but the announcement itself would not neccesarily be made AT E3.

While the new E3 will mostly be based off the main three press events (Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo) which will all have a HUGE amount of news, there will still be lots of game demonstrations, and you better bet EA is going to show off Rock band. Theres no way we are not goingto have any Rock band news by July 14.

I agree. There will most definetly be song announcements and (hopefully) some instrument and interface screenshots.

I thought the big three pulled out of E3.

yah they did. i know nintendo just had thier big Nintendo only event and i think sonys is planned for summer, while microsoft is around september. i really dont theres gonna be any major news releases made at E3 this year. as good as it was for us, it sucks for developers and marketers both, because they gotta compete with every other game in the building for our attention. however, when they spread news and major events throughout the year (which is whats starting to happen) prices go down and it becomes easier for people to get theit voice out.

As more info is released, people are going to become more and more ancy. E For All is designed for the public and I think a great opportuntiy for RB to be shown and playable to the public (either ahead of release or not, doesn't matter). As long as its as good as we all hope/know its going to be (;) ), it will only increase the hype for the game. Video Games Live (which is performing at E4All) is even beginning the planning to incorporate Guitar Hero into their performance (as they've done and currently do with other games) and may have it ready by con time. The WSVG will be there which Guitar Hero 2 is a part of (one of the four games). There's a lot of chances for GH to shine at E4All and I think it would be wise for RB to be present as well.

Erm, E3 might not be what it was, BUT they still have conferences and some developers do show off some stuff still. We may see some stuff yet.........
Sigh, sometimes you got to wonder if the gaming industry has shot itself in the foot when they stopped E3. I mean, that was where all of the developers and publishers in the world met under one roof to show off their latest stuff. It was one of the major parts of the industry.

It shows how much companies miss it when they are holding their own mini-shows.

Even though E3 isn't what it used to be, G4 is still gonna be there with E3 '07 Live just like they have for the past 3 years. I for one am looking forward to it. RB should be unleashed at E3 just like GH blew our minds so many years ago.

Perhaps there will be some songs announced shortly before E3, while that's where they will show the game in action.

i dont think they really miss it as much as we do. it was a huge financial cost, plus it caused alot of stress and other things for a deadline that HAD to be met. when its the own companies setting up thier own trade-shows, is they can manage both the finances and the deadlines better. and considering that most of the time the goal of the developers at E3 was more focussed on showing things to US the players more than other developers, something needed to change.

E3, especially in more recent years, was far more Media Event than Trade show. when i watch/read about E3, i pay attention to the press releases and ignore everything else. i dont watch cinematic trailers, or game trailers, or any of that junk: cause in my experience thier all flash and no substance, and rarely deliver on what they claim

I agree. I'm pretty sure most of the industry (perhaps not some of the video game related media) is happy with where E3 is now.

I really hope they show some songs and release dates and Wii conformation.

I NEED it on Wii.

The average consumer misses E3, but the games might end up being stronger without it. That way, the developers have one less early deadline to hit and can focus on making the actual finished product better.

EXACTLY!

one of my professers last semester (for a class titled History of the Video Game Industry) works for Rockstar Entertainment here in California full-time, and he has stated several times that of all the deadlines the ones he hates the most are E3 Deadlines.
