Excerpt:

After playing the game for about an hour, we are very, very, very, very, very happy to report (can you tell we're happy?) that the latest iteration of the guitar feels much better than the earlier versions we played with, which quite frankly felt like cheap toys. The buttons and flapper feel much more responsive, and the guitar itself has more weight than the previous prototype. It also sports slightly raised plastic bumps on the middle button as well as the two outside buttons, so you can feel what "frets" your fingers are currently on when you're playing. A rep told us that the new guitar had just been flown in from China to Leipzig for the show, so we were some of the first people in the world to play with the newly designed Strat. I hope the final production guitar has a little more heft and that the raised plastic bits are a little more prominent, but overall this version was a marked improvement over the original, and greatly improves on what was previously our biggest concern with the game.

That makes me feel much better.

I'll go ahead and third that feeling. I wasn't that worried but it's still nce to hear that there is a very noticable difference in the feel of the strat....
Dear God I can't wait to get my hands on it! :D

the idea of brail on the buttons is genius. i can't always keep track where i am with just the 1 thing on the yellow button. so yeah, good news.

IErrant, been meaning to say nice pic there bud! (thanks for not using my exact one)

I had always liked the look of the strat over GH III's les paul and now that it's improved more it pretty much seals it for me.. :)

...as we still have some concerns about Rock Band's new Stratocaster guitars. They look amazing, but both the strum bar and fret buttons still have a lazy mushiness to them that proves frustrating on shred-heavy sections. The guitars are still prototypes, but reportedly getting closer to the final product, so it's hard not to become at least a little concerned. At this point, we'd prefer the Xbox 360's X-plorer -- a controller we despise -- to the current version of the Strat. At the very least, we're hoping that Guitar Hero III's wireless Les Paul -- arguably the best guitar we've played for any of these games so far -- will somehow be compatible with Rock Band as an additional option.

Great, now I'm getting worried. Especially at them hoping to use the Les Paul on the game! That's madness.

I dont know who to believe anymore:eek:

I sure hope they are great.

Honestly Sluggo seems to be hating on the Rock Band a little...:(

But anyways, I hope the controller is all good and dandy by the time the game comes out.

Im not really that mentally disabled that I lose my place on the guitars, but I have really big and clumsy hands (which is why Im so bad at real guitar)

Opinions are always subjective. Someone will probably like the Les Paul better. Someone might even like the X-Plorer better. It's really going to be difficult to tell until the game is released and you're able to give them a try.

That being said, both are going to be high quality guitars. Both Red Octane and whoever is making these guitars for Rock Band have learned from previous models and I expect both to be awesome.

Who knows. Their reference to "mushy," IMO the x-plorer was too "clicky," especially the strum.

Seems like a valid area of concern to me. His preview seemed fair.
