When I went to the customer service webiste to get a replacement drum pedal it said they wont accept any items that have been worn beyond their normal use or something like that.

That's odd. I haven't heard of that problem before. I would submit the RMA anyways. What's the worst thing that could happen... they send you your broken pedal back?

I think HMX knows the pedals aren't built as well as they could be, and as a result they're being lenient with exchanges. It seems like they genuinely want people to enjoy the product and are more concerned with eventually getting it right than with losing a few dollars per unit on faulty hardware.

I sent back a pedal that has to be one of the worst returns they've gotten to date, and the exchange went off without a hitch. Basically the actual pedal had cracked in the middle (spring popped through it)... I ordered a woodrock pedal to use in the meantime because there was a backlog on replacement Rock Band pedals. When the replacement finally did arrive, I needed to remove the woodrock pedal so I could send the entire broken component back. Apparently I'd jammed the metal pin into the base too tightly, and the base broke in two at the pin insertion point while I was trying to remove it again. So I put two pieces of the pedal, two pieces of the base, the loose pin, and the loose spring into the return box, and I shipped it back. They didn't even call for an explantion of what happened.

Except that HMX has nothing to do with hardware replacement. That's all EA.

Mine broke in half. I sent it back. They took it.

The worn thing is just to scare you into not taking advantage of the return program and/or so they dont have fix stuff that you obviously set on fire or dumped coke all over.

True. That was phrased awkwardly... EA is doing the exchanges but Harmonix actually made the pedals, so it gets a bit confusing. The design 'quirks' are on Harmonix... the replacement is on EA. Either way, they're being very cool about it. I've dealt with a couple of hiccups, but the important thing is that everyone appears genuinely interested in helping customers enjoy the game (and the peripherals).

I also had this question because my pedal snapped at the base. Now the problem I have is that I had previously sent back my drums that were cracked. I thought everything was fine until I saw the $125 charged on my credit card. Now I really don't want to send back my pedal if they will start charging you for it.

Was this a mistake? Should I try to get my money back since I did send the old drums back? Or is this how they are handling things now?

Definitely call and ask for the money you deserve. I sent back a pedal and they charged me for it. I called up the next day and they gave me a refund.

If the item breaks under normal use, that's what a warranty is for!

I'm always baffled when people ask if their broken item will be covered.

How long are the items covered under warranty? My guitar came broke but my drums now 2 months later are acting up. Can I get those replaced?

Anyone have the customer link. Having trouble finding it.

One of the reasons I think they have been so easy and quick at replacing pedals, drums, and guitars is because you can't play the game without the instruments, and you can't/couldn't buy the instruments. So what are you supposed to do with a game you can't even play.

Perhaps when the instruments are readily available and found on many a store shelf, this won't be the case.

I personally have returned a set of drums and a guitar. Both had almost no wear on them, but the whammy bar didn't spring back, and the yellow pad wasn't even responding. It did take awhile (since I didn't want to do the quick replacement thing), but none-the-less, they were replaced.
