Yet another compatibility thread ps2 and ps3

very simple, I dont own a next gen system but I plan on buying one..currently I have a ps2 so the ps3 is the logical choice. Been reading for the last hour and all the threads are confusing me so i separate my questions.

1. Will all ps2 instruments work with ps3?
2. Are all ps2 instruments wireless same as ps3?
3. Is i a better choice to buy ps3 instruments and ps2 game...since im eventually upgrading?

im guessing next one is no but...

3. Can I use ps3/ps2 instruments on xbox or vice versa? if not, any adapter available?

PS stuff will not work with xbox. Xbox stuff will not work with PS.

You can buy PS2 instruments and they should work on PS3.

However, the PS3 software (game disk) is going to be much preferred over the PS2 one. Not for graphical differences so much as the ability to download music into the game and getting a full featured BWT mode.

The drums DO work for both PS2 and PS3. There is only one drum set for sale when it comes to Sony products and it is multi-platform.

It's quite likely that the drum controller and microphone will also work between the two platforms, since they both use standard USB interfaces.

Can anyone confirm the drum and microphone are also compatible?

Yes, both of my drum kits that said "PS2" on the box work on my cousins PS3. Actually, once you open the box the instruments all bare the Playstation 3 stamp but have a sticker on them that says "PS2 compatible". That applies to ALL RB instruments in PS2 boxes.

I originally purchased rockband for the ps2 and I then upgraded to a ps3. The guitar, the drums and the mic all work on the ps3. You will just have to buy the game for the ps3. And as posted above everything in my ps2 bundle was labeled ps3 (guitar and drums)
