Why is everyone saying all this crap about how songs with a keyboard should not be in the game. I know that they are not going to make it a new part of the game, but some of those songs should be in there.

To those people who are saying "You can't play those songs unless they made a keyboard controller and added it into the game." they should shut up, listen, and get their heads out of their asses.

Harmonix would just add those parts into the guitar(unless the song has those instruments playing at the same time, then that would make this whole post irrelevant:o ) just look at Carry On My Wayward Son, you played the FREAKIN ORGAN.

in Misirlou (aka Pulp Fiction Theme) your playing what is normally the Trumpet.

i'm fine with songs that have keyboards, but they should not be a playable instrument out of the fact that there are allready 4.

next time you play the song, go to more stats and it will say organ solo.

Um, I get exactly what point you're trying to make, but you're using a terrible example. You should be using Killer Queen as the example if you're trying to convince others that HMX will convert stuff into guitar. Though this time around it would be trickier since master tracks are being used.

You don't play the organ at all in Carry On Wayward Son. I really wish you could since that organ solo is sweet, but you can't. There's an organ playing in the background, but you're definitely playing the guitar. So you're completely wrong about that. You called it when you talked about your whole post being irrelevant.

The original version does not have a trumpet solo.

But, at the same time, In Carry On Wayward son they changed the piano to guitar in the first verse.

I'm a keyboardist/lead singer in my band. Back when we did a lot of cover songs I played that organ solo many many times. But... you don't play it in guitar hero. The part your playing is the guitar part, and the "invisible" organ player is actually playing the solo. However that's not the main part of what I want to address.

You can't realisically say "all the keyboard parts will be covered by the guitars". First I'd like to discuss Frankenstein. There is no guitar in that song except for the funk like chords in the background, and it kinda doubles the main riff when that happens. That song is all keyboards. In GH, you played all the solos and stuff... which is quite impossible. You don't have to be a musician to know that guitars don't have the note range to play Frankenstein (it goes WAY too low). In Wayward Son, the keyboard parts were there... you just doubled the piano part in the verse. In Killer Queen, the piano part was still there, the programmers just wrote some crappy stuff that is nothing like what Brian May played so that the player wouldn't just be sitting there listening to the piano and a horrible imitation of Freddie Mercury. No instrument can completely cover something intended for another instrument and sound as good at it. And Harmonix never did that... they just made up stuff to go play along with the keyboard stuff, and still recorded the keyboard stuff, it's just the actual keyboardist isn't visible except on like 2 songs. If anything, the only instrument that could convincingly cover another part is the keyboard (real keyboards... not those cheap casio ones that have a list of "instruments" to play).

In closing, I'd like to say I LOVE guitar players and drummers. I have the highest respect for what they do, and I know I can't do it. I'm gonna buy RockBand, with or without the keyboard, and take my place as the lead singer and maybe a guitar, as I had a blast with guitar hero. But frankly, I'm sick of idiots who go around thinking guitars = music and keyboard players don't do anything but push buttons/keys, especially when said idiots are not musicians. Yes, I"m primarily a keyboardist, saxophonist, and singer, so you might say I'm biased. But I also play drums and guitar (not crazy Hendrix stuff, but I can play rhythm parts of practically any hard rock song), and I am in a good position to compare them. Need I remind you that the first rock and roll instrumentalist was a piano player (Jerry Lee Lewis), as all the others, even though they played a little guitar here and there, were only known as singers. And yes, I know, the "ROCK" instrument will always be guitar. I will always agree to that. But don't dismiss the keyboard... Dennis Deyoung and Freddie Mercury are just as much rocker as Jimi Hendrix and Angus Young.

Err... can anyone say "Freezepop"?

Last I checked, not the world's most guitar-driven band :)
Still, Get Ready to Rokk and Less Talk More Rokk were ranked highly on my list of "Most enjoyable songs to play in GH".

If you've enjoyed the last 2 (or more) offerings we've seen from HMX, why can you all not accept that RB is going to be awesome, and the track list will have songs that are going to be fun to play?

...regardless of the presence (or absence) of keyboard tracks, or keyboards as an instrument.

Let the nice people get back to working on our next great addiction, and stop wasting their time reading this sort of rubbish.

In one of my posts earlier this week I did suggest a keyboard, and have been thinking about it ever since.

While I realise that if a keyboard was to be included, it certainly wouldn't be in the initial realease, and maybe not until (something like) RockBand II was made.

I have read a lot of the commnents on here very carefully and I think it is fair to say that the least liked (by the person who has to do it) instrumnt will be the Bass, and the least liked (by those that have to listen to it) will be the singing.

So perhaps in future releases, a keyboard (or other instrument(s)) could be used as an alternative. So the game could have a choice of say 6 instruments (including singer) where you could choose any four from the six, with the other two being played by the computer.

As for a keyboard itself, while it sounds a great idea (and in principle it is) a 5 keyed keyboard is going to look pretty silly, and I would have to say you would need at least 8 or 10 keys so you could use both hands, in fact to stop you covering all keys (unless you are a multifingered mutant) then 12 or 14 keys would be nice, quite how the dots onscreen would work, maybe numbers instead of dots, dunno.

I am a bit dissapointed that people have so readily put down the idea of an alternative instrument, considering how flexible and diverse this game could become in future iterations.

Here's looking forward to anything that comes out for this game :)

I was thinking about that too, but I'm sure that not all the songs in there will have only guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. I would guess that those parts would just play along like they do in GH, ya know?
