Well looks like GH3 beat RB to the punch yet again. What is RB waiting for?? I don't own any of the GH's, but with all their modern songs being released as DLC, and now especially with Deftones' DLC, I am very seriously thinking about buying it. Right now.

Holy damn and they have Thrice too.
I'm kinda considering getting that for 360 now.

I agree with this post... we need more music of this genre...
Check out my thread here:

Support this type of music on Rock Band...

I would just do more GH (since they seem to have a better selection of my style) but i LIKE THE DRUMS!

Lets turn that tread into a petition for Modern Metal on RB!

Whoa whoa whoa, show me where it says gh has Thrice. If that's true I'm ****ing livid right now.

It's in the pack with Deftones, according to wikipedia.
And it WAS released today, so I don't think it's fake info.
RB needs to get with it.

..............Not to mention a FREE Dropkick Murphy's pack on St. Patty's day.

Here's the deal...I bought RockBand because it could potentially be the best game of all time. It is so fun playing all the parts and intsruments. I truly love it. I love the way the game is setup up and I really like all of the intruments as well.

HOWEVER...

Just like anything else in life, it boils down to content. To say that I have been disappointed with RB content (In Game Tracks as well as DLC) is an understatement. GH has better songs PERIOD. No one could intelligently argue that. Everything from the classics to the wide variety of modern rock. It seems all of RB songs are sub par and that is being nice about it. I always hear people saying that we should be greatful for all of the content that they are providing us...I say BS. RB songs are like GH hand-me-downs. Top to bottom they have better material. No matter how much better of a game RB is to GH, It doesnt matter. THERE IS A REASON that GH is kicking RB's butt in sales and its NOT the price tag. Its quite simple actually. GH appeals to a wider audience. RockBand has completely left out entire generations of gaming fans with their lack of new/modern content. It's really a shame.

I have both, and I have to say I enjoy Rock Band's songs a lot better. Rock Band delivers a lot more content, even if some people don't appreciate it. I've never listened to the Deftones, though.

This is kindof what I brought up in the GD DLC discussion.
I'll buy the DLC because it's new songs, but in NO way do I enjoy them.
HMX NEEDS someone with a better knowledge of the new music scene today, because they seem to be completely ignoring all of it because the only kind they've heards is the rehashed garbage on the radio like Linkin Park and Disturbed.
There's NO reason they shouldn't have a band like Thrice in here other than the fact that they might not have ever heard them and just write them off as boring.

I happen to enjoy both rb and gh. but as far as content, for me, Rb edged out by a bit cause of LS and soundgarden and my fave metallica song and justice for all... but they better shape up cause the past two weeks have been o so disapointing

I'm sorry, but I had to comment on this statement. It's just such an inane, incredibly unintelligent statement. Which songs are better comes down to one's taste. It's opinion.

I am working on a side by side list of the songs in RB compared to GH and looking at the average age of the songs, as well as the number of new bands released. I am going to post the all the findings when I finish (after this weekend, to much stuff going on...) but I can tell you right now, that as far as new content, 92% of the music to come out on GH is new bands, compared to about 66% for rock band!! I mean are you kidding me? Please tell me why we need 6 Police songs, with another one on the way??? Plus, GH blows RB away in newer genre of songs (ie the stuff fans want, the stuff we grew up to listening, the stuff we listen to now). Greatful dead, seriously? Seriously? Every week I get to look forward to more Clash, more Ramones, more stuff I have never heard of, don't want to listen to, and won't listen to in the future.

I am seriously thinking about getting GH3 just because it has a, one, Deftones song, I like them so much. And Thrice, Dropkick Murphy's! They even has Prayer of the Refuge from Rise Against as their bonus song. As a BONUS!! Linkin Park, The Used, I can go on and on...

I can't tell you how many times people come over to play and ask if there is new songs to play. New, as in contemporary, not new as in KISS. Another writer wrote about how people are enamored by RB just because it has lots of DLC, and I hundred percent agree with him. I would rather have a bowl of ice cream than a bucket of crap.

So to wrap it all up, a friend told me that if ever Deftones was released as DLC he would drive over that very minute to come play. Well, hes going to come over to be playing GH instead of RB now.

I got gh 2 & 3 for my 360 and Rock Band. So I'm happy. Also, I personally llike the DLC for RB better (except I do love the Velvet Revolver Pack, Foo Fighters Pack, and the Modern Metal Pack.)
But RB released Siva, Joker & The Thief, The Perfect Drug, A Black Sabbath Pack, Buddy Holly, All the Small Things, The Kill, Attack, Sex Type Thing and Interstate Love Song, not to mention the downloads are cheaper, and you can do more with them. If only they'd release "The Last Fight" by Velvet Revolver, "Plush" by Stone Temple Pilots, "You Could Be Mine" by Guns N' Roses, "Alive" by Pearl Jam, and "Heavy" by Collective Soul.

I think you guys take a lot of great Rock Band songs for granted.

GH doesn't have amazing, undisputed classic songs like...

Don't Fear the Reaper, Gimme Shelter,NIB, Dead or Alive, Won't Get Fooled Again, Run to the Hills, Tom Sawyer....etc

GH may have a few of those bands, but they didn't get those iconic songs.

On the flip side....there ARE some aspects of GH that are beating Rock Band out. The lack of Alice in Chains, Muse, Santana, Pearl Jam, and Dead Kennedys is disheartening (though I suppose this list would be subjective...) I'd say it's balanced really. Rockband is beating GH in overall amount of DLC available, therefore there's much greater possibility for better content in principle. Rockband is missing very iconic bands, but GH is equally guilty of this.

There is no:
KoRn
Tool
Zeppelin
AC/DC
System of a Down
The Doors

I think this list is very hard to debate. These are extremely iconic bands that have not been touched by either company. I think this should be what we push for here, not a competition between GH content and RB content.

I couldn't believe this myself! I am a HUGE deftones fan and the funny thing is that I was listening to the deftones the other day wondering if it would ever make it to rock band... I Will NOT buy GH3 for those songs.... Hopefully it'll make its way to rock band soon.

Not much of a loss IMO but it sucks for you guys that want them.

I still think the RB DLC is a lot better than the GH DLC. I Only want the velvet revolver pack, foo fighters pack, and that one aerosmith song for rockband.

Better luck next time guys, they still might make it to rockband.

You know what I think? I think the Guitar Hero guys are reading the forums over here to see what the fans want so they can put it in their game. I don't see any threads here for Greatful Dead, but I see a lot for Deftones, Thrice, Linkin Park, The Used, Velvet Revolver, Foo Fighters....

Rock Band better get Deftones. I got so freakin excited and angry at the same time when i found out. I don't enjoy Guitar Hero 3 at all and Deftones being on it makes me mad. I want to play Deftones songs on a good game. PLEASE. DEFTONES. ROCK BAND.

I'm really disappointed that RB didn't go for Dropkicks. Considering how many of the bonus songs in the previous GH games were from Boston Bands, I thought DKM would be on their DLC list for sure. C'est la vie, looks like I'll be playing a lot more Guitar Hero once that pack comes out.

Great you are doing exactly what they want you to do... They want you to buy both because they'll make more money... I refuse to buy GH3 because I HATE their controller. Besides that, I enjoy the variety of playing multiple instruments. I get really bored just playing the guitar.
A while back I owned GH2. It sat in the corner after about a month and it never saw play again. I sold it and used the money towards getting RB.

Well, don't know any of those songs, so I don't care much.
If they would have gotten Deftones "Shove it" that would suck, because that's a song I'd like to have in Rockband.

Not sure what you mean, since its two different companies, so no one is making more money... And since you can use the RB controller for GH, thats also not an issue... As per getting bored, I only play guitar on RB if I am by myself, so whats the difference?

They even has Prayer of the Refuge from Rise Against as their bonus song. As a BONUS!!Which, of course, is one of Rise Against's worst songs. Not to mention, it's not fun to play at all.

And really, I can count the number of songs that are actually *fun to play* in GH3 on one hand. Don't get me wrong, there are some: Cliffs of Dover, Welcome to the Jungle, etc. If I want to listen to music I like, I'll listen to my iPod or something, because the bands I like aren't coming to a music game any time soon. If I want to play a game with intuitive charts that lets me do things like play guitar and sing at the same time or play drums, I'll play RB. It's a no-brainer. Even songs I hate in "real life" are fun to play in RB.

I used to be a huge Deftones fan so I would download them. I think the "Shove It" song someone referred too is actually called "My Own Summer (Shove It)", and would be great for RB.

I don't really think of KoRn as being an iconic band. Sure a lot of people used to listen to them, but other than bringing about the Nu Metal period, they've never really contributed anything and I think they would be boring in RB. The Guitar's would be simply, the vocals wouldn't require you to actually sing, and the bassist wouldn't have notes to play, and would just be required to hit their controller.
