Importance of the Bass

i posted this article in the drums thread because i thought it was the best review so far on the drumming aspect. but this was an interesting read too.

"the guitarist may actually be the least important member of the band. As mentioned above, finding singers who can pull off Expert vocals may be tough, and since the bassist can get multipliers up to 6x and "rescue" other players who fail out of a song, it'll be key to have someone good rocking the bottom end. And just forget about attempting to play with someone who can't keep any rhythm on drums; if you've got someone hammering away at the kit completely out of time with the music, it'll throw even the best players off. So as a result, the lead guitar turns out to be the one instrument that you can give to almost anyone without it killing the rest of the band (although your score will be a different story)."

I guess they found a way to give bass a bigger role. they played the game, and i havent, but calling guitarist the least important member sounds like a stretch.

More than likely an error on IGN's part, they meant to write "Rockaway Beach" but must have had "Biltzkreig Bop" on the mind. Don't get your hopes up for Blitzkrieg Bop, it's not on there. I'd be willing to put money on it.

I'm glad that the Bass seems to have been given a bigger role, as it is massively underappreciated by a lot of people.

Not a mistake. There's even a picture that shows BB in the game, and it's been explicitly stated that Rockaway Beach has been replaced by BB.

yeah, it was "official" when it was listed in the press release today.

plus someone posted the screenshot earlier that had BB as the selectable song to end all doubts.

Well, as a consolation, in that IGN article they mentioned that it was hinted that Rockaway Beach should be making an appearance in DLC.

Anyway, I never thought about the bass as a "White Mage" before ;) it sounds like a bass player is a good person to have around.
