Nope, Alex said early 2008 and they don't know if it is just for Europe.

Wii was "absolutely" and will have Wi-Fi (GHIII is) and possibly DLC (SD cards) so I'd wait for that or an announcment.

I have a ps2 but I am not willing to sacrifice DLC and effectively a better version of the game anyways by buying it for PS2
Getting a 360 ASAP.
I think it's awesome they chose to do it though. A lot of people can't afford next-gen consoles so it's nice of them and a smart move anyways.

I am amazed at the fact that after 9 months after the release of the PS3, they are still putting out great games for the PS2, that's not necessarily a bad thing, specially for PS2 owners. I'm trying to look at it from Sony's point of view. How can they help their new console's sales if they don't let the PS2 rest in peace?. The PS2 was a great machine no doubt about it, but let's be real, it's time is over.

Maybe for the people out there that can actually afford a next gen console.
I myself am over the moon they are releasing a PS2 version because otherwise I would have to pass on the whole game as there is no way in hell I can afford to shell out the 599 Euro they want for the console here plus the price of the game on top of that.
Personally I think it is a very smart move on HMX's part to release for the PS2 so that the loyal fans like me that have purchased and played to death GH 1,2 and 80's can continue to support HMX's excellent quality work in Rock Band

This is the exact situation as to why they're coming out with the Ps2 version. There are people who cannot afford to upgrade just yet. And the Ps2 is still very popular.
Plus, the Ps3 is still the most expensive console, and has the least amount of users out of any of the popular consoles (which include Xbox 360, Wii, Ps3 and Ps2.
Therefore, Sony needs to make as much money as possible off this game, thus having it also for the Ps2, which is actually where most of their users are coming from.

The people that own a ps2 is like 4 to 1 with next gen consoles. They are going where the money is to be made :)

I think the DLC issue could easily be handled by releasing the songs as an addon for the original game.
Kind of like what they did with the 80's game...only not so expensive...lol.
I figure it wouldn't really cost that much to bunch the songs together that way for us ps2 users.
And like others have said, the ps2 is not a dead system yet. You can't expect everyone to jump on board the new consoles...especially with the prices they are at.
And I think most of us would agree that the prettied up visuals and such aren't really important as the content of the game.
I HOPE that the ps2 release will NOT just be for Europe......don't leave us Americans out in the cold....*makes a sad face*
