Gametrailers.com has two new gameplay videos up, of Faith No More and Ok Go.

Faith No More Drums Demonstration (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/23898.html)

OK Go Demonstration (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/23892.html)

Jet Gameplay (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/23908.html)

Tom Sawyer "Drum Annihilation Gameplay" (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/23910.html)

Deep Purple Demonstration (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/23965.html)

Suffragette City "No Encore Performance" (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/23967.html)

The videos are pretty cool. They are a little to short for my liking, the singer in the Ok Go video isn't that great. I like getting to see a focus on the drums a bit in the first video too, it is pretty cool.

They also just put up some Rush!! Sweet, for a cover it sounds pretty nice from what I can tell! The drums for that song look crazy!

Looks pretty good. I really want to see some of the drum fills in expert mode from Tom Sawyer and Won't Get Fooled Again.

Yeah cover sounds great, it was interesting to see in that video that they are handling open hi-hats a seperate pad from the regular hi-hats.

I actually noticed that. I think it makes the game a tiny bit more difficult, but not so much in a good way. I'm not really digging it. I was hoping it would be like hammer ons and pull offs and could be done with an expansion pedal later on for bonus points. Sadly I don't think the expansion pedal will be happening. I tried looking for some kind of expansion port on the set and can't see one. :( The game still looks pretty perfect though. It's going to be a tough wait.

Edit: Actually now that I look at the hd versions of the video, maybe the pedal cord plugs in. That could allow for it to be split which means at least double bass is a possibility. The pedal that comes with it also probably comes off, so you could easily buy two kits and split the connection for an easy double bass mod. They could even sell an extra pedal separately for double bass and for those heavy footed people out there who may break it? Who knows, but I'm happy just dreaming about it.

The singer in all of those videos is terrible.. He ruins all of the songs. =|

Nice videos though. Looking forward to playing Tom Sawyer on drums.

If it works on the same tech as usual digital pedals then it's just a mono 1/6ths jack. ANd I know for sure that any stero splitter jack would work.

Has anyone else noticed that some of the circle notes for the guitar parts are a lot smaller then the others at random parts of the song? I noticed this in Are you gonna be my girl.

I think those smaller circular notes indicate HO/PO, similarly I believe all the notes during solos look like that.

Also I just noticed in the same Jet video there is a image of a foot which tells you when to use the pedal, I think it might be a feature to help you on easy...

GrenadeJumper

that kinda what i thought about them... but wasnt it stated by harmonix that ho/po can only be done by using the second set if frets? it looks like in the video there is like one note during a long sequence that you can do this in. It just seems kinda pointless to have to reach down and press one note an the second fretboard.

It's actually quite the opposite. The extra 5 frets never need to be used, during solo sections you have the option of using them, and you wont have to strum. You could go through the whole song using the lower frets that we are all accustomed to using HO/PO as normal (like in Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero II)

I know but it just seemed pointless to me to make a ho/po in such a random place that stands almost no chance as being used as a ho/po...:( I guess I am making something out of nothing lol.

Well no, it can be used as a HO/PO just like you can in GH II, you don't have to shift down to the higher frets for every HO/PO. Like I said before.

how come none of the singers in video turn the orginal voice recordings off, or at least down low? It sounds so much worse when there's two people singing

Wow, that drum shot for Epic looked really fun. I am still not sure if I'll buy it but that video really made me want to play drums badly on that song.

This is exactly how they worked in Guitar Hero. HO/POs are simply timing based. If you have two different colored notes within a certain time, they're just automatically a HO or PO. So when you have a lot of the same note coming up, they each have to be strummed, but as soon as you change notes, because you're going fast enough, that first note of the new string of notes is a HO/PO. It happens all the time in Guitar Hero 2.

Just a heads up, Gametrailers just posted two more Rock Band videos. One of them is Highway Star too.

EDIT: It appears the other one is another Suffragette City one.

Thanks for the heads up I updated my first post to accommodate, Highway Star looks like a lot of fun to play.

Why do they need another Suffragette City video?

I'm disappointed with the guitar solo on Highway Star... it's on hard I hope (because of the orange notes he hit). It looks too easy.. please let that be hard.. not expert.

And does anyone but me worry about how bad some are at the guitar and bass?
Is it the guitar or them?

There was no solo. They didnt let you play the keyboard solo

...

Please excuse my ignorance. I had no idea that was a keyboard solo, I always assumed that was the guitar. Plus, I saw a custom GH chart on this song, and he did the keyboard solo so that's why I thought it was for guitar.

Jeez.. never trust YouTube.

Yeah I wish they let you play it on guitar. Fortunatley the second guitar solo is even more insane and should blow everyones minds.

Speaking of guitar... Thing looks awesome in action, doesn't it? It may be just me, but they look like a little better quality. They said they improved them slightly and I think it shows.

OMG I know dude. The guitar looks very well built. I read that it had some weight added to it so it doesn't feel cheap anymore. I cannot wait to hold that big guy.

1. ) I don't like how they treat open hi-hats on a seperate pad. It's stupid. Good job "drum experts at Harmonix".
2. ) I'm happy that they have accurate bass drum hits in Tom Sawyer. The double strokes will be somewhat difficult to hit.
3. ) Not much else to say, although I am excited to play this game.

McDeezy

Well at least the did handle the opening/closing of the hi-hats. :) I mean if they had a second pedal it would be better but I'll take what they give.

That is kinda irriating that they are having two pads for open and closed high hat notes. That really needs to be attended to.

Tom Saywer looks amazing on the drums. Can't wait.

And that douchebag of a singer needs to tone down the suck a bit.

Has he even heard these songs before?

parastroke7
08-23-2007, 08:47 PM
I honestly think that have the open hi hat be a different pad will cause more difficulty than having a hi-hat pedal to lift for a brief second.

They've succeeded in inventing the hammer and chisel to create the wheel, only to throw the wheel away thinking it's just scrap paper, never to be invented itself.

I disagree. More people will get used to hitting another pad other than dealing with 2 pedals. That would take a long long time to learn.

Eastwood

plus there is an issue with coordination... not everyone can handle tapping two different feet at two different rythms....

Now if there was an accessory option, that would be acceptable, but the double pedal has been nixed (so far).
