View Full Version : What Will the Last 14 of 40 Main Songs Be?

ThePaska

Ok so far there have been 26 of 40 main songs announced. All of which are categorized under 5 different decades spanning from the 60s - Present.

My prediction here is that 40 songs into these 5 decades, most likely means that there will be 8 songs per decade. With this in mind the next 14 songs will consist of 2 songs from 2000s, 4 songs from 1980s, 1 song from 1970s, and 7 songs from the 1960s.

Knowing all of this, what do you guys think the next 14 songs are going to be, which bands and or which songs are they going to come from. Potentially I think most people would like to see

from the 1960s:
The Beatles
Led Zeppelin
Cream
Jimi Hendrix
The Doors
Frank Zappa

from the 1970s:
AC/DC
Pink Floyd
Queen

from the 1980s:
I'm not really sure to be honest, I'm not too big on the 80s, but some of the stuff from Guitar Hero Rock the 80s was awesome, so maybe some of that like;

Judas Preist
Iron Maiden

from the 2000s:
again I'm not too sure about this one, only because there are certainly a bunch of bands to choose from but I wouldn't mind seeing;

Muse

This is the Set List Thus Far:

1960s
Rolling Stones ?Gimme Shelter?

That sounds more like a dream list rather than something that's actually feasible. They'd have to be pretty stupid if they had Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and The Beatles secured and hadn't announced any of them.

I think one of the songs from the 60s will be the Young Rascals' "Good Lovin'", not sure why I think so. Possibly a song from The Zombies, The Byrds and Cream seem very likely.

"Roundabout" seems possible, but I'm not sure about the rest.

Edit: Just realized one of the 2000 songs is probably 'Flathead' by The Fratellis. It's the perfect kind of song for this game.

Actually if I had the bands the people wanted most, I wouldn't announce them until last, ie: saving the best for last. Akso I mean, this is a place to post the "ultimate setlist", so we are free to "dream" here. And I promise I wont say "told ya so" when all of them are in the game :D

Ok and in response to WingsOfSteel's post:

Yes - Roundabout is a really good one, it was actually one of the 4 songs I submitted to Rock Band.

Also, Van Halen and most likely Guns n' Roses, have a very good chance of being in the game too. I would love to see House of the Rising Sun, some animals would be great.

Wolfmother is another good choice I think.

With most of these being in previous games, I think it is very possible they could show up in Rock Band.

I'm beginning to think their going to have more 90s and 2000s songs than 60s-80s songs. Lets hope these last songs add more classic rock. Some new Wave on the 80s list would be nice too.

Well more than likely there will be only one more 70s song, but this is just my own speculation, for all we know the next 14 (although highly unlikely) songs could be from the 70s.

Like I said in my other thread, if at least 3 of those bands are in it I'm the happiest person on the planet:

The Cure
Bloc Party
Placebo
Angels & Airwaves
Oasis
Stars
Death Cab For Cutie
The Killers

Especially The Cure, Bloc Party and Placebo would be awesome.

The Cure may have a good chance, since there are still a lot 80s songs missing. I just hope so. Disintegration album please!

Fascination Street would be awesome!!

Hopefully. They should be able to get the right, since Search and Destroy was in GHII, so it could happen.

nice analysis. i hope youre right about the 60s! :)
either theyre holding out till the last minute for the bombshell to announce something crazy like beatles or led (yes we all know it's unlikely), or others are right guessing that songs from the decades will not be evenly distributed and we'll see more modern tracks.

I'm definetly thinking U2, responsible for some of the greatest songs of the past 25 years, AC/DC, and Guns N' Roses for 80's. Hendrix, Zeppelin and Cream for the 60's and 70's. Muse should definetly be in there for 00's, and hopefully some early Modest Mouse circa "The Lonesome Crowded West" to round out the 90's.

I really couldn't tell you, I could list songs that I want to see, but in all probability the only artist I can see in is Judas Priest...

Using such a great JP song (and a master none the less) in Rocks the 80s makes me think that there is something bigger in store for Rock Band, I would say something off the painkiller album (seeing as how hard and kick-ass it is), but if this how the game is going to end up
(8 songs from each decade) it can't happen due to the album's release date.

In all honesty, I would love Zeppelin to make an appearence, but there are no leads other than the IGN statement (which may be fufilled because of the Radiohead announcement) and a guy in EGM's riddle that suggests that Harmonix were just trying to get Led Zeppelin and although I salute the effort, it may not be a for sure...

To sum it up for all the lazy readers out there, I have no idea what the remaining songs are.

No to Back In Black man.All the songs ACDC has and you had to pick the most overated one.
Anyways I think for the last song from the 70's should be an ACDC song.Either Highway To Hell,Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap,Rock N Roll Damnation,It's a long way to the top or Beating Around The Bush would be perfect for the last song of that decade

Jimi Hendrix - Machine Gun
Creedence Clearwater Revival - I Put A Spell On You

70's

Pink Floyd - Hey You

I know I'm one song short in the 60's, but I can't get at my music right now.

1. Machine Gun is from Band of Gypsys, which was released in 1970. So you can either move it to the 70s or replace it with a song from Are You Experienced?, Electric Ladyland, or Axis: Bold as Love. (If you want a 60s song, I'd go with Fire)
2. While Hey You is a great, great song, it doesn't have any drums until 1:20, so it'd be better suited for DLC. A Pink Floyd song with great guitar and drums is Lucifer Sam (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwOF5tK34Q0) from their 1967 debut album Piper at the Gates of Dawn.
3. For the final 60s song, I think Subterranean Homesick Blues (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srgi2DkDbPU) would be fun, especially for the singer. Of course, The Animals' House of the Rising Sun (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRV9QCXLtHQ) is a classic, too. And then there's The Yardbirds' Over, Under, Sideways, Down (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6SGl7SOvkQ), and.... well, I'm starting to ramble. One of those three should be good.

And, wow, great choices.

I personally can't stand Run to the Hills. It should be Prowler, Where Eagles Dare, Aces High, or Can I Play With Madness?

edit: The above is directed at Obnysalt.

And viru30, Rock N' Roll is from Led Zeppelin IV, which was released in 1971.

If you want a 60s Zeppelin song, get Good Times Bad Times, Dazed and Confused, The Lemon Song, Heartbreaker, Ramble On, or something else from Led Zeppelin I/II.

I also want Zeppelin's "Heartbreaker", "The Lemon Song", "Dazed And Confused", "The Immigrant Song", "Black Dog", "Achilles' Last Stand", "Rock'N'Roll" or maybe "Misty Mountain Hop."

Carlos Santana's "Black Magic Woman" would be a nice addition, as would CCR, either "Suzy Q" or "Fortunate Son," I think.

Led Zeppelin, Doors, Hendrix, Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd need to all be put into this game somehow. That is for sure...

I would also have to add Coheed and Cambria along with Styx, Journey, Foreigner, and CCR-fortunate son.

It would work and this game would be a best seller even at $200 for the bundle.

I had actually compiled a list filling in the missing 24 before the night before next 10 were announced. Fortunately I had quite a few that were also revealed (five), but I had to trim a couple here and there. I tried to keep my list light on "wish list" picks and heavier on "likely and popular" picks. I'm not even fond of all of them, but I figure they're likely and not terrible choices (even if I'd prefer certain other songs by the artists).

So, here were my "predictions".

1960s
Rolling Stones - "Gimme Shelter" (1969)
The Animals - "House of the Rising Sun" (1964)
Cream - "White Room" (1968)
The Beatles - "Helter Skelter" (1968)
Jefferson Airplane - "Somebody To Love" (1967)
The Mamas And The Papas - "California Dreamin'" (1966)
The Stooges - "I Wanna Be Your Dog" (1969)

I was torn for the Cream song between White Room and Sunshine Of Your Love, and opted for the former -- originally I wanted Sunshine Of Your Love, but I think White Room has a better pace for vocals, and I'd prefer that as a launch title (I'd still want to see Sunshine as DLC, of course), and I just plain think it's more likely. The 1970s being filled really killed me, because there were so many more I wanted in there - Derek & the Dominoes, April Wine, Journey, Foreigner, Heart, Styx, and many more. I couldn't squeeze Joan Jett in for the 1980s over other picks, but I'd love to see another Joan Jett song. I noticed there's a bit of bleed, since I think Epic was released in 1990 (but recorded in 1989 perhaps) and Main Offender was released in 2001 (but recorded in 1999). Could probably drop the Yes pick or the Tom Petty pick for GnR, and the more I think about it the more likely a GnR track will be in that block, although I'd rather keep Tom Petty given the choice. I also opted for The Beatles and Journey to add to Radiohead to fit in with the "fully satisfied/totally disappointed" option from that IGN interview.

Plus, I couldn't bring myself to include any AC/DC song but Thunderstruck, and the 90s were already filled. ;)

So, yeah. I'm pretty bad.

No Cars Go - Arcade Fire

I think if any Arcade Fire song gets in, it'll be this one.

I gotta say I think the setlist will be heavier towards more current music. Only a couple of the bands in your 60's section I think have much chance of actually being in.

And besides your 80's choices, i hope to god that's not what's left.

Really? Im a huge Aracde Fire fan and tahts my least favorite song by them. Intervention would be cool but theres no real good guitar. Keep the Car Running would be great.

WHENNNNN ITTTTS COMMMMINNNNN

Or Antichrist Television Blues, but that would take out the chance of any Jessica Simpson for RB:p

Well, 'Creep' got in didn't it? :p

I agree with Keep The Car Running, though.

I'm hoping for The Stooges, Velvet Underground and CCR to by 3 of the ones not yet mentioned, though.

Ack! I forgot Lola by The Kinks and Whiskey in the Jar by Thin Lizzy. See this is why I'm against having newer songs. Suppose Def and Pantera can go.
