View Full Version : Concerns from a loyal fan

Let me start off by saying Rock Band looks to be amazing so far, I love the song list, and I have total faith in HMX in making sure this will be a super duper game and all that.
But after the recent developments, 2 concerns started to kinda bother me. They're minor really, but still...
1) The different regional content. Mainly I'm worried that one region (England, probably) will get a bunch of cool regional content that we won't get.
What made me think of that is if you look at the PS2 game Songstar (yeah, different company, I know), the British soundtrack is way cooler than the American one, IMHO. Hopefully certain songs from other regions will be available as DLC.
2) On a totally different note - OK, so everyone knows how in Rock Band there are certain parts of the song where you can play whatever you want, and it's how Star Power gets activated (do I have it right)?
They seem to show up in certain parts of the songs, take drums for example, during the fills at the end of a measure. So I gotta say the whole idea of free-form sections is bad-ass and really innovative, but on the downside, I was kinda looking forward to the challenge of playing the fills of the original song. Am I making sense? This would also apply to vocals and the guitar parts as well. Am I the only one slightly disappointed by that?
And I'll say once again, lest anyone think I'm a disgruntled whiner, that these are fairly minor concerns and I will still pee my pants with joy when I get my hands on this game.

LOL im not to sure we will get region jazz. but if we do, i think its only fair because we have to wait longer for the game to be released :(

Not sure about either answers... Cept maybe drum fills, I believe the originals will be in here. Cause what would you play with no star power?
Otherwise.. Don't worry about getting flamed when raising real concerns like this. There is a big difference between your approach and others approach, for sure, and that's obvious :)

My understanding is that the regional content will be the bonus content. So Americans will get unlicensed American bands, Europeans unlicensed German/Brit/Etc band, and so on. HmxSean already said not to worry about the main songs, so that's all that's left.
I do hope that they put the other region's songs on DLC. Hopefully their distribution license allows them to export...

I'm fairly certain that most the of the info that will be region specific wont be anything we would know or want, but if it is, I wouldn't put it past Harmonix to release it as DLC.
And in response to your 2nd question, certain fills will be playable in anyway, which is cool since it allows you to make the song your own, and maybe make the fills as complicated or as cool as you want, you could probably still pull off the same fills as the real song. Also it has been said that certain fills (maybe more fun to play or difficult I'm not positive) will be left as is in the song.

I prefer to ALWAYS have a guide to the original fills (even if you don't have to follow it) and I was little disappointed with the ending, where you everyone can play anything. I mean, it's always exciting in GH when you are coming to the end and you know that some amazing riffs are coming and you can fail the song @ 98%. It looks fun to just bash the drumms, but I like it better the GH style.

I'm hoping that free-form fills are only for the lower difficulty levels. If they have free-form fills on expert then I will be extremely disappointed.

when they say regional content they don't mean England. Needless to say regional content is for countries who'se main language isn't english, so playing the game is easier.

You should have the option at least turn free form fills on or off.

Agreed. Single player will seem pretty easy if the free form is in there instead of the drum patterns at certain times.

I too think there should be an option to turn that on or off....I am mostly concerned about friends playing badly and making a sound sound completely terrible......
