I've thought of about a thousand tracks that'd be suitable for RB, but if I've got to make a short list then it's gotta be Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. Supergroup punk covers of the best pop songs of every era? Yes, please! These tracks would be challenging on all insturments, fun to play, could appeal to young and old gamers, and would be CHEAP to licence.

Here's a few tracks for starters -

Leaving on a Jet Plane
Crazy
Blowin' in the Wind
The Longest Time
Jolene
ect.

C'mon Harmonix, let's bring out some "Olde Skool" favorites with a little "New School" flavor.

Actually they could be very expensive to lisence. I'm pretty sure they'd have to be gotten from the orignal artist in wich case they'd be much better off putting their name on it (like with Blowin' in the Wind) unless it was a song that just didn't fit for the game normally (like Crazy).

I actually thought about them the other day. Heard their cover of "Country Road".

Would be a blast to play on all the instruments and to sing, and it's a song that John Denver's version.....doesn't quite make the cut to get in.

How about it Harmonix?

licensing would be a nightmare but they would be a welcome addition

I really don't see the licensing being that rich. Just 'cause their's more than one entity holding the rights doesn't necessarily dictate a higher cost.

You really think that Dolly Parton and Billy Joel are so ballin' that they're holding out for what the superstars of today are getting? Half of the artists covered are dead by now and whoever holds their rights would be a fool not to cut Harmonix a deal to get a younger generation exposed to their prehistoric hits. There's a reason these songs are turnning up on commercials all the time and it isn't because they're charging an arm and a leg.

As for buying from the Gimme Gimmes, Fat Wreck Chords has a long-standing history of being about the music, not the money.

At the very least "Over The Rainbow" and "Hava Nagila" have to be cheap to licence

Licensing probably would be an issue because we would be covering "covers" but they would be super fun nontheless. i have all of the cd's minus the new "have another ball" And have always thought that they were fantastic. They are one of the few super groups that not only cover bands, but do them tastefully and respectfully while putting their own spin on them at the same time.

I highly doubt that it would ever happen but I would'nt hesitate to Dl ANY Me First content in an instant!!!!
