View Full Version : Reinforce Drum Pedal?

I'm one of the people that went through the whole broken pedal thing. It was past the limited warrenty date and I still got it replaced for free.

Click HERE (http://support.ea.com/rockband.php) or call 1-650-628-1001

And now that I've got the new pedal (which seems about the same and therefore liable to break again). I'm trying to make a list of ways to reinforce your pedal (or fix broken ones). I've only really found two so far, so If you have any, please feel free to post them and I will add links to the first post.

electrical tape and two metal shanks. then i glued on a Dr. Scholls gel filled insole - works great and comfortable too.

*Note: I am not taking credit for any of these ideas. I'm willing to admit that I'm not that creative.

This thread should be titled "REINFORCE YOUR DRUM PEDAL!!!"

Every single day there's like 8 new threads on here saying "wahhh i broke my pedal". And most of the people have plenty of posts, so obviously they've been on these forums and seen the warning signs.

I ordered one of those metal pedals off ebay the week I got Rock Band and have been kickin strong, problem free for over 2 months.. I also picked up the gum rubber pads which are awesome at silencing and as a bonus I dont have any cracked pads either!

Works flawlessly (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yS5gbIbcHJQ), is what I use and didn't cost me a dime (cost someone money...)

$19.95 for a megapedal plate is invaluable for the added peace of mind and style it provides.

After posting the infamous rat trap fix some time back I've decided to get pre-emptive and fix it before it breaks!

This lead me to the local auto parts store to buy....a metal gas/brake pedal combo! $15 and some electrical tape and I've got a fix! Will post images if I get a chance.

Thanks for all the new info! I'm going to have to use that butter knife one until I can afford something that looks decent! ;)

I reinforced my second pedal once I noticed a crack in it with two butter knives and some duct tape. The butter knives, being metal and thus stronger than plastic, offer enough support to the pedal that it doesn't bend enough to cause any additional damage, at least thus far. I play on espert and I've played for about a week now with this "mod" in place with no problems. I can take pics if it's requested but it's pretty self-explainatory.

We really should just class-action this. How come EA/Harmonix can get away with giving us broken, useless, poorly designed products that don't do the tasks intended?

When they replace them when they break to us for free.

Oh wait they do.

My Pedal broken again about a week ago so I had to call them up today to get it RMAed and was told that "They are currently making a newer, stronger model Drum Pedal and will let us know when they become available", How true that is will have to be seen but I figured I'd share this info with you guys.
