View Full Version : Your Ultimate Superband?
woobwoob
08-23-2007, 02:22 AM
If you had the opportunity to create a superband, who would be in it? And what would they play?
Vocals - Maynard James Keenan (Tool, APC, Puscifer)
Bass - Les Claypool (Primus)
Keys/Backing Vocals - Trent Reznor (NIN)
Lead Guitar - Tom Morello - (Rage, Audioslave)
Rhythm Guitar - Stone Gossard (Pearl Jam, Mother Love Bone)
Drums - Danny Carey (Tool)
Lets assume the band would be timeless, so feel free to use Jimi, Morrison, etc... And lets also assume that egos/fueds wouldn't get in the way, so feel free to have a band that would have Lars on Drums and Dave Mustaine on Lead.

Vocals - Maynard
Lead Guitar - Yngwie Malmsteen
Rhythm - Herman Li
Backup Vocals/'Experimental Instruments' - Mike Patton
Bass - Les Claypool
Drums - Danny Carey

edit - Had Joey Jordison on drums, as not to have more than one artist from a single band on the list, but Danny is too rockstar not to include. So I'm rationalizing it by having Maynard from APC and Danny from Tool. :)

I dont see how you can diss on Cobain's songwriting. His songs have some deep **** in them. Even if you dont like the band you can still respect him as a writer and see where people come from when they want him in a superband.

This would be one giant superband that toured the world and played one show every night for 2 years straight. It would be one giant jam session. The red sea would part. Hot naked women would fall from the sky. Beer would flow like water. Oompa loompas would be moshing and crowd surfing. Y'know. All the good stuff.

Guitar: Hendrix, Page or SRV - Zappa on Special Occasions! Mike McCready! Porl Thompson?

Keys: Lisa Melvoin, Eddie Van Halen, Ed Hayrsch (spelled right? used to be in Black Crowes)
Horns: Eric Leeds all damn day!
edit-- forgot vocals, heh.
Maynard from Tool, Robert Plant (sent in a time machine from the 70s, tho), ani difranco, brad nowell - The Steels on backing vocals - Joss Stone (flame me, I don't care, the girl can sing.) Ed Vedder?
I realise this would be a large ensemble to gather all at once, but I figure everyone isn't going to be able to show up everytime I want my dream band to play - so plenty of "understudies", heh.

Depends on the type of band:
1. Vocals: Beth Gibbons (Portishead)
- Guitar: Nick Drake
- Bass: Les Claypool (Primus, Frog Brigade, etc)
- Drums: Ahmir Khalib Thompson (The Roots)
2. Vocals: Maynard (Tool)
- Guitar: Thomas Erak (FOT)
- Second Guitar: Dave Murray (Iron Maiden) (Think about it!)
- Bass: Les Claypool (He can play any type of music)

I think these both work, or at least it would be stuff I'd enjoy listening to.
The only question comes with who gets creative control...um, me?
