I read in an article on Gamespot that the library in Rock Band will span over multiple genres. What does that mean necessairily? Will you be able to go solo as a rap star? Or is like choosing between Glam Metal and Grunge? I for one think I'd be a capital idea to include genres such as Soul or Country. I do understand there would be conflict in instruments, but if they made it work, they would attract more consumers. It'd be the battle of the ages, Rap v.s. Rock! Or maybe when you get tired of jamming out to Boston, you could break out your microphone and sing some Marvin Gaye or Curtis Mayfield. Just a thought.

You're mad................and you need counselling ;)

Great idea though, with it being ROCKBAND thogh, I dare say it would be more geared towards rock music. But I agree throw in the odd one or two different songs.

For example, me and my wife often go around to our friends house for Sing Star nights. Now, whilst they are fun, they are heavily tilted towards the chicks who prefer to sing, so something like RB is going to hopefully change the way we do things and release my inner guitar legend and keep the girls happy at the same time.

They get to sing, I get to strum.....:D

keep in mind that Rock has so many subgenres (punk-rock, traditional rock-n-roll, metal and the subgenres thereof, grunge, etc) that saying that it overlaps a bunch of various genres is kind of a given.

however if they did include non-rock bands, definatly gotta get Blues, R&B, Country, and Soul. allthough they have a different sound, they still use the same instruments Rock does and can make for good rythm games.

and for the flipside of that coin. i do not think that Rap or Hip-Hop would be good for this game, because it seems allmost solely focussed on the lyrics and the person who is singing them.

I really hope there isnt any rap, r'n'b, hip hop crap in this game. The only thing they would be good for is singing and the ocassion (and repetative) drumming.
If your lookin to play this kinda stuff give Sing Star a shot... It's not lookin too bad... I would never play it but as a game its pretty nifty.

I doubt we'll see any rap, but there are some old R&B songs that might be fun to play at easier levels....
