I have to go for a 7 day trip with parents. I was a teenager in the 80's so i know most of the bands in that time frame. Please turn me on to newer bands? I like all music.

I highly recommend Kings Of Leon. They are a great rock band, and if you havent heard of them yet they look and sound like a blast from the past.
Here are some of their videos:
Four Kicks
http://youtube.com/watch?v=uZe4rn-VTvI

Red Morning Light
http://youtube.com/watch?v=zYH_1kW7n8M

Also check out Keller Williams who is this awesome musician, kinda like a funky one-man jam band(thats the only way I know how to describe him).
Freaker by the Speaker(just him on acoustic)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=PAI3QgssxKA&feature=related

Play This(a song from his new album, with drums and bass also)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=TfvpZrPkn-s&feature=related

Breathe(this is just a great example of him in concert, using a looping system, and becoming a one man band)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=dMONzLf8VvA&feature=related

Everyone should check out these two artists, they are amazing

I think you might like metal, just a hunch.

It was metal or a bunch of EBM, gothic, or singer/songwriter stuff from recent years and I figured I'd push more RB related stuff over the rest. I also figured he'd know stuff like Muse & The Killers.
