What sucks is times got changed here in the states. I live in Arizona, one of two states that don't change there clocks. It's only an hours difference but not I do not get to read the update in between class... oh well.

When did they ever say todays would be at 2? they said all future FRIDAY anouncements will be posted at 2pm. although they added a clarifyer as well so that normally it would be but it may not in fact be the case. I dont think they ever even mentioned a monday posting time did they?

You're right, they didn't. But I assume that since the announcements are usually made on Fridays at 2pm EST, I figure they would do the same for this week, since they didn't tell us last Friday. Hopefully that's how it'll happen :/

The situation has grown more desperate. I have resorted to instrument cannibalism to satisfy my hunger. I attempted to make an afternoon snack out of my drumsticks, only to discover them talking back to me. Their names are Steve and Larry. They have expressed that they do not like to be gnawed on.

Steve is quite a character, but Larry is starting to get on my nerves. Larry enjoys overtapping during drum rolls, missing his overdrive activations, and failing Foreplay/Longtime. If it wasn't for his brother, I'd have devoured him for sure.

Steve tells me that I must be strong, and hold out the afternoon... if not for myself than for him. Steve may be my only friend in this life... I must not let him down. Can't sleep, clowns will eat us.

This vicious program has been identified as the Do_you_really_want_to_Hurt_me.exe virus. Possibly initiated by someone with the handle BGeorge2008. We recommend a full virus scan immediately before your PC monitor default colors become red, gold, and green...

Of course they know what the DLC is...Obviously, There is something wrong with it...i would have to assume (Just like with certain demos) that there was a problem with the approval process through microsoft and they are

To be honest guys, the only reason I can see for the delay is this:
HMX has something they want to release this week.
Legal issues are still being worked out for whatever reason (probably cropped up late in the game).
If the issues aren't resolved before they need to submit the DLC to be available at its usual time on the 360 servers for this week, they will instead release some "safety net" DLC and postpone the stuff they really want to release until next week or whenever things clear up.

Thanks for taking the time to keep us informed, it's great that you guys take the time to respond to your community.

I have to say it would be great to know a little more of the nitty gritty details. I think what people don't understand is why there would be snafu's at the very last minute. I think most of us get that the initial acquisitions and development is a long process but it would seem the hard part would be over by Announcement Day. And I'm sure that's wrong and an oversimplification so it would be pretty great if we could get a few tidbits as to what could potentially cause a hold up like this.

Possibly, school is out and almost everybody is home from work on the East Coast.

I'm really hoping for disappointment. The only reason is, because I'm broke. All the HD-DVD firesales and spending all of my M$ points on DLC for Rock Band. I only have enough for a song pack or 3 songs. I would be ecstatic if its "Nevermind", but I wouldn't have the money and would have to wait till Friday.

I have to say it would be great to know a little more of the nitty gritty details. I think what people don't understand is why there would be snafu's at the very last minute. I think most of us get that the initial acquisitions and development is a long process but it would seem the hard part would be over by Announcement Day. And I'm sure that's wrong and an oversimplification so it would be pretty great if we could get a few tidbits as to what could potentially cause a hold up like this.

Yeah, I agree with this for the most part. I don't want to read the 9000 page contract that goes with each song, but I wouldn't mind knowing the order of events so to say.

I trust that we'll know the new DLC as soon as it can be released. I trust a game developer that actually takes the time out to keep it's players up to date. Not to many (if any) do this. That's the most appreciated part to this whole forum and I think 99.9% of the people here will agree with that.

1)This is pretty much just a courtesy so people can hear a song that maybe they have never even heard of or actually listened to before.
2)For them to have a hiccup at this point in time, you know that it has to do most likely with licensing of some sort or legal mumbo jumbo, so....

Im not trying to harp on them too bad, but all that stuff should have (in my mind) been set up prior to this day. A company that big should have no issues with any of this. Deadlines are meant to be met, especially when selling things to this amount of people. I again want to stress that I have been very happy with the mods/hmx on this board. They do a good job of keeping us updated, and giving us what they want. But at the same time, I can still be upset the deadline has not been met.

What they are doing is a COURTESY to the players. It does not have to be done. They are just trying to be nice and let us know a couple of hours or days ahead of the release time. I know man. We're all a little frustrated. I was frustrated with the non-announcement on Friday. But we don't really know what all goes into this process so it's hard to get too upset at HMX. If they came out and said, "Geez, we forgot there was supposed to be DLC this week," then that would be one thing but I don't think any reasonable person thinks that's the situation. HMX wants to get this out as badly as we want it. Like you said they are a business and they want to please their customers. It's in their best interest to get their product out to the consumers.

But even though, like you said, they have millions of dollars they still have to deal with record labels, Microsoft and Sony. Each of those entities makes HMX look like small potatoes. I would guess HMX is at their mercy on a lot of these things which would make meeting deadlines for them more complicated.

The most reasonable explanation, outside of someone simply not doing their job, is that the last three packs that Guitar Hero 3 released, would have been/is something 90% of the Rock Band population has been dying for and Harmonix, due to having songs ready 1-2 months in advance had already given Microsoft their list of updates in succession as illustrated by the OXM release schedule.

However, after seeing the great releases by GH3, they have decided to take action and are trying to ask Microsoft to bring down their normally scheduled release for this week, which realistically would have been either the Thrash Pack or the Shooting Star, Simple Man, Message in a Bottle pack and instead replace it (temporarily) with something "awesome". The delay is most likely, trying to get ahold of the right people at Microsoft and to ensure that they give them the right pack to release and once Microsoft has received this pack, they must test to ensure it's working for their Xbox Live customers. Once they have finished testing the material, they can notify Harmonix that they will release the newly added pack and Harmonix can then come on here and make the Announcement.

I've been silently watching this whole debate take place, but I can't stand by and watch people like you say stupid crap like this.

1. They gave us a DATE, not a date and a time. Last time I checked, it's still Monday March 10, 2008 in the United States (can't speak for people elsewhere in the world)

2. The DATE that they gave us was not a deadline, but merely a point in time when they said (not promised) that they would update us on the status of this week's DLC.

3. The members of this forum make up a miniscule percentage of total Rock Band players. The most I've seen on this entire forum was just under 3000 people (which was like 30 minutes ago). Considering they've sold millions of copies of Rock Band and millions of DLC songs, we are but a drop in the ocean. I appreciate that we get to talk to the devs and get updates regularly, but we are by no means the most important aspect of the game/community/whatever. Sit tight and wait for them to update us (which they will...eventually).

As some of you may know, the space shuttle Endeavour is going to launch tonight at 2:28am EDT. Harmonix and MTV Games have worked out a special arrangement where the DLC announcement will be made from space moments before it is released on Xbox Live.


Houston -- we just wanted to let you all know that Rock Band works just as well in space as it does on the ground. And we're playing the new awesome DLC that was just released on the Xbox Live network, .... [garblegarble] [radionoise] ... it's a total blast to play! The ISS crew are really excited to get a shot at playing some Dead too, since they don't have an Xbox Live Gold membership on the space station.

Hope I didn't spoil things too much with that...

How are the amount of posts someone has relevant to this situation? I come to this board for one reason and one reason only, and thats to find out what DLC is coming out. Since it hasn't been announced I keep coming back again . . . and again . . . and again to see.

Granted I am an ass, and should just relax and wait and be patient, but I ****in love this game and I want to know. So until its announced I'm going to be impatient.

So the thought just crossed my mind, but if they haven't released any details yet about what songs are going to be put out, is there going to be anything put out. Think about it, Sony and Microsoft must have some sort of submission deadline for stuff going out. I would say best case senario, we don't hear anything tonight and see the content tomorrow.
