I was just extremely upset with all the promises that GHII developers promised with the DLC. A couple of track packs and A MCR track pack. That's it???!!! Hopefully RB will deliver the goods. It's looks incredible so far.

I think you mean GHII publishers promised, not developers.

They promise at least a once-a-week release on DLC

Harmonix had nothing to do with the DLC on GHII.

Hopefully they fix the problem people are having and release some not so popular songs from RB bands as DLC.

Hopefully they made some deals with these bands when getting the songs for the main setlist.

No, that was something that GameSpot said that turned out to be not entirely true.

I think Hmxsean said something to the effect of a couple times a month...

Actually, Sean was refuting the fact that... can't remember the magazine name... said that full albums would be available every week. This is the same magazine that mentioned Nevermind would be a DLC album (although, not official).

I'm pretty sure that they said DLC should occur pretty much weekly.

(But, I've been wrong before.)

I have good word from reliable inside sources that the DLC they've already got planned is quote "good."

You didn't hear it from me.

Alex has said tracks are weekly he even said it in the Gamespot E3 vid.. it's the Albums or the song packs if any that are not weekly.

This is not true. Harmonix developed Guitar Hero 1 & 2 and they worked closely with Activision in terms of getting the DLC made and out the door. This is likely the reason for the high pricetag, as all parties want their share.

There is no way we are going to be disappointed by the DLC. Right off the bat there is a full album being released, and they would not say they would release weekly DLC if they weren't going to do it, you cannot use GH II as a good example because all that happened during the time where Harmonix was leaving and moving on to creating Rock Band, which is probably part of the cause of the lack of DLC for GH II.

I agree, I bet the publishers are still kicking themselves for all the money they lost or should I say the money they didn't make, out of GHII's poor DLC. They won't make that same mistake twice. I'm sure the DLC for RB will be awsome or at the very least quite satisfactory.

I just hope some kind of SOAD is in the Main playlist, or in DLC... I WOULD KILL FOR SOAD!

First off I'm not blaming Harmonix for the debacle with GH II. And I think GH II is a great example. I mean yeah it was handed over to Activision but it was originally a Harmonix game. I read the EGM article (pretty messed up what they did to Harmonix if you ask me). I just don't like to be mislead but I think RB is very promising. I know I will own it regardless the DLC. And the prices for the DLC for GH II are crappy if you ask me.

The good news is that Harmonix has obviously invested a lot of planning into the DLC, and was making specific announcements five months before the game release.

Contrast this with Red Octane, who was being incredibly coy about DLC, and had made no specific announcements, even after GH2 360 was released. They made ass-clown statements like 'more DLC than any other game', but never said anything specific to back it up. In other words, they thought the DLC thing was a cool idea, but they had no idea how to actually execute on it.

Also note that, to my knowledge, there have been no specifics announced regarding DLC for GH3. This likely reflects two different strategies. Harmonix will be focused on profiting through DLC, because selecting, licensing, and producing content is their strength. Red Octane will be focused on profitting through peripherals, because hardware is their strength.

Just as a footnote, the inverse is true. Red Octane has been very specific on pricing and wireless support for their guitar peripherals, while Harmonix has been stalling, and unable to provide any specific announcements on peripheral bundles and pricing. Clearly, Harmonix is struggling more than Red Octane on the hardware production side.

I agree about the hardware. But I'm pretty sure the price will be set around $150-$200. I think the $150 price is reasonable but $200 is pushing it.

This makes sense. This was also why they went together so well before.

- HMX is best at the software developing

- Red Octane is the best at the hardware production.

Both these games are an extreme test for all companies involved.
Because HMX has actually had specifics, I'm sure the DLC won't disappoint.

But not nearly as badass as Kefka Palazzo.

Admit it.

We already know there is going to be "Who's Next" and "Nevermind" is rumored currently but what I want to know is if from time to time maybe some wardrobe packs, Instrument skin packs, or maybe even a new arena could be put up for download. That would be sweet.

I agree that would be sweet.

And yes Kefka is a badass. Hell of alot more badass than all the other final fantasy antagonist.
